Mine have. If they're misbehaving and I have to remove them from my study, I will often find them waiting outside the door. When I open it, they'll come in and love on me. I always try to make sure they get good playtime if I've been busy.
My cat puked on my difficult-to-clean couch once. I had already had a terrible day, and when I saw the cat puke I just broke down sobbing. I cried the entire time I was cleaning it up, while my cat watched. A couple days after that, I came home to find a random cleaning rag on the floor. Underneath the rag was cat puke. I think she realized that she had upset me a lot and tried to make up for it by either hiding it or maybe even attempting to clean it up. She had kidney problems and couldn't help the puking, but she made sure to never puke on the couch again. I miss her a lot.
@@Lisaliveswell Well, a vet diagnosed her 0:02 when she was around 11 years old. I know one of the signs was that her puke usually didn't contain food or hair, and she puked at least once every 2-3 days, sometimes more, especially toward the end. Another sign was the way she walked, especially after using the litter box. She also got a little better when we switched her to a prescription food for kidney issues. But she did live to be 16, which is pretty good.
Growing up, our cat stole a piece of chicken off of my mother's dinner plate. My mother got upset and put her outside. A while later, she was meowing at the door. When she came in she had a dead bird in her mouth that she brought to my mother and dropped it at her feet.
I always use the same "happy" tone when communicating with my cat, and only ever use a deeper stern tone when she is doing something she shouldn't be. When I use the stern tone, she immediately stops what she's doing and comes over to me meowing repeatedly, as if she's trying to explain her actions lol
You know I had a real smart cat once, I'd use harsh tones to be friendly and nice tones when I wanted to be friendly. Harsh tones when angry too. Sometimes I'd use a harsh tone for pee or eaten books and that cat would look at the perpetrator and then run up to me happily. If she was at fault, she'd hide then I'd know to look out for a mess
My cat has a bit of a temper, which is usually fine, but once she swiped and caught me in the face. I could tell she instantly knew she had hurt me, because she immediately got into a very "submissive" stance and then gently pressed her head up against me, once I started petting her she started purring loudly and we cuddled for awhile. Say what you want about "personifying" them, but she did a better job of saying sorry than most humans!
I love them anyway. Both mine are gone. I had them 20 years. It wasn't enough time. And if you are old, you don't want to have one that you might die on.
I was once having a bad day and at one point was in my room crying into my pillow like crazy, my cat came and saw me upset and somehow she knew exactly how to get my attention. She came right up to my ear and made a very unique, quick, passionate and strong purr and I was shaken and how much sense she had of how I was feeling. I immediately tried to clean my eyes up and started petting her. She has done this in many other ways also. I love my cat Cookies-n-cream so much. She is the only reason I stopped self harm.
@gomicgamer1245 All I do is be hard on myself. What else can a person do if they have C3GN, nephrotic syndrome, high BP from the age of 9, anxiety, ptsd, and the list just goes on. Still my cat is my biggest motivation to keep fighting, taking care of myself, following doctors orders and keeping check on my mental and physical stability. My Cat 🐈 is my best support animal ❤
@@sarahmansoor6173 Dear,I am extremely sorry to hear that. I know, you will recover soon. Nothing will be able to stop you from healing. You are the winner-queen and you got this❤️❤️🤗🤗🤗. Best wishes to your little furbaby. I hope, she stays well and continues to provide you emotional support.❤️❤️ Love you and your furbaby 💕💕💕
@sarahmansoor6173 My Claudia does this too! Aside from loudly meowing, she rubs on me and brute forces herself under my hands to pet her and only stops when I’ve calmed down and stopped crying. She’s 16, she’s had a long time to figure out my episodes 🖤
One of my cats moved their kittens and while doing so, she incidentally bite one a bit too hard while jumping. The kitten cried in pain and she apologized a lot. She was mortified. The same happened once with me while she scratched my leg quite badly while jumping on my lap. So, yes, cats do apologize much in the same way we do, for the same reasons. And, as I read here in the comments, even with gifts in exchange for stolen food. One of my cats also apologized to me bringing her kitten to look after, because she had not enough milk. That was the most complex conversation with a cat I ever had and it was heartbreaking. She was so thankful that I could give her little one the bottle!
My cat accidentally scratched me hissed and made me bleed as a kitten. He was so sorry he licked that spot for years. He never even put his claws out again. My kids would play with him tons. They loved him but were rough. Toss him around wear him as a hat put him on there shoulder like a parrot. He loved my kids. He never once ran away or got upset. He would go sleep in there bed till they feel asleep. He just loves people. He never used his claws again. He never got upset or hissed again. He always remembered that. Now he would demand to go outside and get pissed if you closed the bedroom door. He would go outside to play with kids and say hi to people. There was tons of dogs. But dogs just ignore he exists? I am never did a dog ever bark at him. He would lay in the sun most of the day greet people and hangout than come home when he wanted too. I let him do his own thing. He never once didn’t come home. I could also call him home or to come to me just making a clicking sound. He would come running. If he was mad at me. He would wait till I was asleep pounce on my stomach and run away. He also learned to cuddle with me from watching women. So he would come lay with his head on my shoulder under the blankets He never learned to meow so he just would squeak. The most loving cat and human loving cat I have ever seen. He never would hide. Just wanted to cuddle with someone never do his own thing. I also trained him from a kitten to be like this for my kids. He was famous in my apartment complex. Everyone would come by just to say hi to him. Pet him and he loved it. Orange tabby main coon named tigger the tiger. As he had strips and large paws like a tiger. I really miss him. I found it amazing. Thought I would share.
Some cats can be soooooo affectionate. My fur baby only EVER hissed at me because I was trying to get him off my computer desk while I was working! It was like he was saying, “No, mom! I want to be with you!”
This is an excellent video. Cats are a lot more tuned into us than we realize, and it's great that scientists are starting to seriously study their interaction with us. I am especially glad that the myth that they don't need as much attention as dogs is being debunked. Cats do need attention, but of a different kind. If I have been really busy or outside my home for many hours, my cats will be all over me when I get home. When I've taken trips, they're battling for lap and cuddle time the instant I sit down. While I know that they don't directly understand what I say, I still tell them about things that are important to them, like visitors, or bad weather. When I moved house, I told them, and they settled in nicely. Our cats take their cues from us- if we're calm, they'll be calm too- even when things get crazy.
"Cats don't feel guilty for their actions; rather, they're responding to your reaction." So, just like most humans when they only apologize after getting caught. 😂
The first time my cat apologized was a few days after I adopted him. They warned me that he had kind of a temper, but I didn't think it was that bad. After a couple days he showed me his temper for the first time and grabbed onto my arm out of nowhere. I yelled no and stop! He took off running. About minutes later, he came back to me with his head hung low and eyes looking up, he then cuddled with with me. He kinda has a bad temper for some reason, but we get along puurrrrfectly!
sounds like ptsd actually, probably had something bad happen to him before. we have 3 cats, sisters. We know they were thrown into a neighbors back yard in a box for their dog to eat and so one of the girl's tear ducts in one of her eyes is destroyed. But we also found out over the years they are terrified of men in trench coats and huge boots. Huge shoes in general that make loud steps in general cause them some fright. But mom's ex who they knew for 13 years ever since we got them, he once walked in like that and poof they ran and hid. Or brain damage, a rabbit we rescued had brain damage and didn't know how to act like a rabbit, took another rabbit 2 years to show her how to groom herself. But as time went on they couldn't stay together because she didn't know rabbit manners, and so the other rabbit eventually got fed up and started attacking. Nvm brain damaged rabbit started biting randomly as the damage got worse as she aged. but hey he came back to apologize, and that was just a few days after adoption. usually cats take a week or longer to get used to you after adoption so just that alone says great things. He might have temper again in the future but he loves you in his own way already.
The above commenter could possibly be right. I didn’t know animals could get PTSD until I came across a RU-vid channel that told the story of a chihuahua named Porter. The poor, sweet babe! He’d been used as a bait dog in dog fighting and still has mental scars years later! We’ve all seen dogs dream, but I’d never seen a dog have a nightmare before Porter. The poor dear was crying out in his sleep and urinated in fear! Thankfully, he’s under the care of a gentle, old man now who treats him with the kindness he deserves!
Already commented, but I also really wanted to commend you for taking in a cat with an “attitude”. You might have saved that cat’s life, and if not that, saved them from being stuck in a kennel for years and years while other cats around them find their forever homes. Shelters are so vital, but are a stressful place for animals. I’m sure your kitty appreciates the efforts you made for them.
Ahhh😔 thats horrible..Yes, he is traumatized. He is skiddish and certain things still scare him a lot, even though he loves and trusts me. I've had him for 6yrs now and he still has little tantrums, but gets over them pretty fast. He brings me so much joy!
I think cats understand humans better than humans understand cats sometimes. It's humans who need to be trained to learn how to better communicate with their cats (and with each other! )
My cats made the common effort to teach me their language. It took a while until I could correctly understand, I had to look after their kittens while they were out to flirt with their boy friends 😅
Yes. I don’t like the videos of cats hitting the owners who clearly do not show respect to their cat. The captions always say things like, cats being cats. They don’t do that if you respect them and they do communicate.
The stare from accross the room...typical of my cat. 😅 I can feel it (even if I'm upset) and I always finish by looking back at him, tilting my head and blinking my eyes. He blinks back and runs to me to cuddle. We know the "dispute" is over. ❤️
One of my cats (Biscuit) marks me by rubbing his body against my feet and ankles. Once he came running to rub his body and I fell down hurting my left knee. I screamt in pain. Biscuit sat at a distance watching me rubbing my knee. After 5 minutes he came near me and started rubbing his head against my left knee. That melted my heart. ❤ My other cat Cookie, usually goes to his room and meows for my attention even though he can come and sit near me in the hall. Once I go near him and ask what he wants and he realises that I'm annoyed he lies down showing his tummy. He does this all the time. 😁
I noticed that my cat Lotta always looks very confused snd concerned whenever a member of our family is upset. And her response is often to initiate play time and following the upset person around the house. I once had a mental breakdown when I found my pet snake Kenny dead in its terrarium and Lotta was looking extremely concerned and meowing at my mom and me. She also sniffed around a lot and followed us while also inspecting the cardboard box, where we put my snake in. Later we gave Kenny a proper grave in our garden. She definitely understood how devastating the loss of Kenny was to me and she was concerned about my well being.
Back story: I adopted a 16 year old after her previous owner surrendered her to the RSPCA. I sometimes worry that she feels she's in trouble after she is sick, or even when she uses her litter tray. Her previous owner may have been harsh or neglectful. I have seen the "distancing apology" after she brings up the rare hairball. I'll apply what I heard here, so thanks.
My housemate kept chasing my cat away from his litter tray when he tried to use it when they were cooking. It caused all kinds of problems with my cat refusing to use that tray and starting to go in other places around the house. Thankfully in my case he got over it after some time. I still have the stains in my carpet though...
@@Atelierwanwan I too was going to suggest the "one plus one" rule. (that's one tray for every cat, plus one extra tray) I have one cat, two trays. And you can buy carpet cleaners at the super market that are specifically for pet stains. They usually come in a bottle with a scrubbing brush on the lid. Mine works wonders. I'm not saying the name because they aren't sponsoring this comment.😸
@leel.5818 I wish you could have met my dear departed cat Arthur. He was an ex-stray, he was very quick to learn and a total tough guy. No way you'd call him a baby. An absolute gentleman, but not a baby. All the bestest for 2024.
@leel.5818 I actually do have 2 trays, he just seemed kind of intimidated by the idea of the litter tray in general for a little while. You are right about my housemate though. He tends to treat animals like they can reason like a human. He shouts at my dog too even though you don't need to shout at the dog. When he barks you just get his attention and he stops. Keep telling my housemate that but he keeps trying to tell me I'm not strict enough. Some people just can't seem to understand that animals don't think in the same way we do. Whatever the case the housemate is moving out in a couple days so everything will settle down again soon.
My cat is super smart my washing machine was leaking and she came to me and meowing constantly to tell me, same when she had been sick she came and again meowing over and over I went to check what the problem was and sure enough she was looking as if to say look.
Was sleeping one time and my cat Sylvester woke me up growling and very upset. Found out cable guy was installing my upstairs neighbors cable and my cat was my security system!!! 😊😊😊
I turned on the kitchen sink to fill it up and went to my room to grab something and got distracted and our new kitty went crazy because there was a puddle blocking the two sides of the apartment and he kept coming to me meowing until I followed him and turned off the water and put towels down He then started purring and wrapping around my legs and giving headbuts as if to say thank you
@@lindabates3270ey, the cat at my relatives also started growling one day, middle of the day some dude was climbing the next doors roof. Wasnt facing the window to the room but in no way did I expect a dude outside the window and I appreciated the heads up.
My cat always let's me know if me or my partner has left the faucet dripping! She'll stand in the kitchen and yowl until one of us realizes and turns it off 😂 they're so smart and very good housekeepers!
Not an apology, but there was one time when one of my cats wasn’t feeling well for a few days and he had all but completely stopped eating. One evening I brought his plate of wet food to the living room chair he was curled up on and was trying to encourage him to eat some. He wouldn’t and I began crying. He looked at me with concern in his eyes and then started eating 🥹 I think he understood what was going on.
I know for a fact Cats apologise and mean it the exact same way we do. One of my cats was born with 3 legs, she has no front right leg, as a result she needs to use her claws on her front left paw to stop herself from sliding off chairs, beds etc when she jumps onto them. This has lead to many many occasions where she has had to dig her claws into me lol, I always show her that it’s not her fault and try not to react too much when it happens but when it happens when I am asleep it’s a lot more difficult to restrain a reaction as it is just natural to jump up quick and rub the area she dig her claws into me. At the beginning my reaction use to scare her and she would run away but after many times of picking her up and petting her to let her know it’s ok it’s not her fault, she now reacts differently instead of running when I jump wake, she bumps her head into me a licks my forehead for a second before curling up beside me.
Fairly certain my cat is broken. She does exactly the things I don't want her to do because she finds it entertaining or something when she gets in trouble.
My cat would apologize if she scratched by accident during playtime, after I cried out in pain once. She used to not understand when I just said no or stopped (or rather, she knew it meant I was displeased, but she couldn't see why I should be), but letting myself be a little dramatic about the pain made her get it. She became very mindful of my hands from then on, and would immediately give me space if she missed her toy and got my hand/thigh on accident during play.
My 11 year old, Allison, will go through phases where she’ll be lonely at night. She will cry and ask for food. One night, I came out of my bedroom upset at being up at 2 AM. She saw me and flopped on her back to show me her belly. I knew that she was apologizing to me. I felt bad for being mad at her for missing me.
My cat loves to spend time near me and this earned her the nickname of Nurse Kitty. She never left my side when I was injured, and I am so grateful. She does love to play. So I will often try to play with her to make up if she misbehaves. ❤
We love learning about cats, and your videos shin in the library of cat knowledge. You went above and beyond collecting info on cat apologizing, as this is a topic that is not often commented on. BIG THANK YOU for sharing!!! 👏
Years ago my old cat accidentally got his claw stuck in the EYELID of my toddler.. he somehow knew it would hurt my daughter if he struggled or pulled so he stood very still and let me unhook his claw out of her eyelid!! He was such a good boi and i miss him every day ❤
I take my cats with me in the car. My kitten pooped on the floor of my car. I kept being like no no no no! But obviously when you gotta go, you gotta go. I was so upset, but she'd been trying to tell me by meowing like crazy and pawing at me. I just didn't pick up on it. Afterwards she just wanted to snuggle up on me and purr. I felt so bad lol
Once when taking my cat in the car we stupidly stopped for petrol and shopping. After 2 hours the cat peed on me. He was very upset, .but I had to acknowledge it was my fault.
My cat squeaks at me, or soft trills. Most of the time it's because he jumps on me and I say OUCH! But he's a good kitty and always makes sure I'm ok by coming up and staring at me. He got me good one time playing "thing under the blanket" and got a bit overzealous. I wasn't mad but had to clean and rinse and get a bandage. He kept licking it like he was trying to say "I'm sorry".
One of my cats, MeeekMeeek, ran up and peed on me today. I looked at him and said, Meeekie, how could you, got up to wash myself and my clothes, and ignored him for a while after I cleaned up. When I came home after dinner with my husband, his favorite catnip mouse was in my chair. That was his apology, and, of course, I forgive him. He's a strange little man, and I will always forgive all his crimes and love him no matter what he does.
That’s the best attitude, that’s when they know they loved unconditionally. Mine is a teeny tiny ten year old little tender hearted baby. They love us so innocently🥰 the little rapscallions🤗
@@AdrienneMintOMG I hate when that happens! All of mine are dark and I stepped on my boy's tail last night. I was almost crying. I hate when I accidentally hurt them. _"Please let me apologize and love you!_ 😂
@@feraltaco4783 that is literally EXACTLY what happened yesterday to me and my cat Janie! She is pitch black, and was sitting at the entrance to the kitchen and i was walking into the kitchen so i had not yet turned on the kitchen light and i didn’t see her. I was in shock, so was she. She went to her bed which is in the living room and i sat down on the floor by her side and kissed her and told her how sorry i was. I swear, i think she knew i was truly sorry❤️
I like that the first four can be boiled down to "he may stare at you... or not, and he also might come and give you physical contact, or stay away from you.
We don't need 2 do we? I've found cats are so sensitive They Know by tone of voice and i only tell em no if they could hurt themselves Edit 4 afterthought They seem 2 know that as well!
my partner's cat very obviously prefers him to his parents because she knows he'd never yell at her like the parents do, we're currently trying to convince them we should take the cat when we move out together because she would be way happier with us. She's also way more aggressive at the parents and a total sweetheart with my partner and me
When Myrrh misbehaved, I put her in a large crate for 20 minutes. One day she ran through the paper doors I'd painted & tore a big hole. She sort of shook her head and put herself in the crate. Another time she spilled something by jumping up onto a forbidden cabinet, and she put herself in the crate for that, too. I've loved all my cats, but she was one of the extraordinary ones.
I never seen my cats apologized for anything. If they made up for some issues it’s more like “Fineee I’ll do it” lol I have seen them being kind and tried to comfort me when I’m sad tho. They’re very straightforward and honest with how they feel or think.
When I first got my first cat, right before my husband deployed, I tried to clip her nails and she wasn’t a fan. She scratched me and drew blood, hissed/growled and then ran off. But once she heard me start to cry (I felt like a failure as a first time cat mommy, and missed my hubby), she came right back in the room and her facial expression completely softened. She walked right up to me and initiated cuddles and purring. She’s still a mean girl sometimes lol, but we’ve learned to understand and still love each other dearly over these last 9 years. Thank you for this video; it was very validating! 🥰
Some people are not prepared for cats. People should remember : -get rid of plants at home -give your cats safe places and peaceful environment -cats should have their own pillows in bed -fresh water and dry food always availaible. Cats often eat at night. -spend time with them. If you are a busy person, do not get a cat.
I have had multiple cats and indoor plants for decades, and never had an issue. Pothos are a great plant to train cats not to chew plants, just as in the wild. Pothos have oxalate crystals which create a sharp abrasive or irritated feeling, oneor 2 chewing attempts, and thats it, no more bother to plants, and cat is fine.
When my cat was around 6 months old, he was chilling on my shoulder and accidentally slipped off, putting his claws in me to steady himself. Obviously this was an automatic reaction to not fall off, and I wasn't mad at all, but I did let out a scream because it hurt and caught me off guard. He ran away and hid away under the bed for a while, after 10 minutes or so he shyly and slowly crept up to me again for a snuggle. He has never put his claws on me again, not even when he was mad at me for bringing a second cat into the house (they're best buds now). He just tapped me with his toe beans. He's so gentle I love him
My cat, Shadow, used to go and fetch baby birds from their nests, which upset me a lot. So I bought a plant sprayer and every time he sat under the tree with the nests, I'd spray him. He had no idea what was coming the first time, and shot over the fence and disappeared. At this point I hadn't fully accepted that I'd been adopted, so thought if he doesn't come back he's probably gone back home. After 30 minutes, back he slunk, weaving around my legs! He definitely knew he was in the wrong. It only took a couple more times, showing rather than using the spray, and now he leaves the birds be. Happily. My neighbour has adopted a little girl cat and I spotted her little ginger ears poking out of the plants around my bird feeder, so she also got a little shower. Off she shot and I was nervous cos she's not my cat but I look after her when my neighbour is away. But I needn't have worries, back she came, meowing at the door to be let in. She doesn't respect boundaries! Your house, my house is her motto.
Just want to say thanks I listened to several of your videos and mostly made me feel good and smart that I'm know my cats and am doing a good job but learned a lot too. I'll play with them more and make sure their litter box is clean and that they have fresh water and food and to have feed times and not leave food out all the time cause one doesn't over eat but Ricky does and the vet put him on a diet that I wasn't following but now I'm gonna cause I love em and want them to be happy and healthy. Thanks so much, both my cats are rescues and makes me feel good to give them the life they deserve . I love to add a picture of them but don't see how I can do just thanks
Me and my boy, Ozzy, have "friendly stare downs". They've never led to anger or any problems I can tell but I'll notice him looking at me or vice versa and we'll just lock eyes for anywhere from a few seconds to a minute until one of us gives up and looks away. I like to take turns letting him win and it seems to make him happy 😊
My girl Willow, we had gotten her years ago from someone who had a boyfriend who treated her like garbage. Either she was kicked or hit, we aren't sure, all we know is that her side was a sensitive spot for her to be touched, and she HATED being locked in any rooms, especially alone. While petting her, during the first year or two that we had her, she would suddenly turn and bite, hard, without any warning. It got the point where I actively became afraid to touch her despite her begging for attention, I'd just flinch away, not wanting to risk another bite. She would watch me, and eventually, stopped biting me. Instead when my hand neared or touched the spot that was sensitive, she turned her head slowly, mouth open as a warning, to give me time to pull my hand away. She didn't do that to anyone else, only me. She isn't as forgiving now, but she doesn't usually have a reason to bite. Usually she goes to scratching instead when I piss her off somehow.
I met my cat when she was still a stray. I would feed her and she would hide in my yard when the school bus came around. She would follow me when i did yard work. She has this habit of smacking things into the ground. One day while gardening while lightly weeding she smacked my hand and she broke skin, I yelped, I was bleeding and I panicked, ran inside, washed and went to the doctors because Im immune compromised and this was the first time she had ever gotten this close to me. Doc laughed at me said it was superficial and I was fine. This cat. Since then has only ever butted her nose to my hand and or gently tapped my hand. She bats everyone elses hand, but for me she hold up her paw and pushes away or reaches if she doesnt want or wants something from me.😂 she also brought me a wild pheasant after that...which i didnt know they were wild around me but later did learned they are. She never brought me any other bird except thay one...and 2 mice.
My cat Rox is very sensitive to emotional states. Whenever I'm upset or just exhausted he's always there to comfort me. But when I'm angry or stressed, he'll keep his distance and waits for me to calm down first. One time he was being really annoying, like clinging really close to my boyfriend, not giving him any space. Later my boyfriend actually had a migraine and Rox was still there. We figured he had already noticed and was trying to help. So he just was making sure to try and comfort my boyfriend. Rox had curled up in his arms purring until my boyfriend felt better. It was cute to see. He's such an affectionate cat.
"Your cat is quite adept at navigating social circumstances" Wow, okay, didnt think this was gonna be a quick moment to say my cat is better than me socially.

I adopted a three-year old cat from an abusive household. A few weeks after the adoption my grandma, who is in her late eighties, accidentally stepped on her in a narrow dark corridor, and, as I happened to br standing near her, the cat hissed and attacked my leg. I yelped, rather from shock than from pain, and went into my room. My cat started running in circles around me and soft-meowing. To this day i think that's one of the cutest things she's ever done.
One time I scared my cat standing behind him without him knowing. He freaked out and swiped at my legs repeatedly and cut me multiple times. The yelp I let out and the pain in my face, my cat immediately coward and meowed, and then lingered around me, not looking at me, then looking at me. Not looking, then looking. When I was all cleaned up I called him over and we cuddled. That was the first and only time he ever attacked me and even knowing right now that it wasn't guilt he felt, it sure did feel like he was sorry for unintentionally hurting me.
Every morning for the past year our10-month-old cat jumps up on the counter while I'm fixing his food. I pull the food away and watch as he wanders around aimlessly and then finally jumps down. I then put the food back on the counter and continue to chop it up. We've been through this 300 times. I really have no point here except that it is so amusing to watch the routine repeat itself over and over. Jfc I love him
when i raised a kitten, it was very playful with me and had needle-like claws, and when i cried owww, my kitten looked at me like "I didn't know that would hurt, and I didn't mean to hurt you" and she immediately was more gentle. They don't want to hurt you, and most cats only do when you keep doing something that annoys them. Cats have very sensitive skin, pet them with a light touch. Over time, they may become less sensitive to strong petting, or they may come to resent you for it. So start out with an extremely light touch.
I might disagree with the theory on how cats respond to a human's emotions because I have owned quite a few cats that, when I have been upset and crying, for instance, have literally rushed to my side to console me. Just a thought I wanted to share.
Great video. The playlists where I have included your videos are ready to view and share at my playlist.. The titles are AMAZING ANIMALS COMPILATION PART 1 AND PART 2. Shared this video on my Facebook😊😊
Apologize would imply a feeling of guilt... they do not feel guilty. They simply see you acting in a way they find uncomfortable and attempt to make that behavior change with behavior of their own that they have experienced to trigger behavior patters in you that are more comfortable for them. The key to take away is they do not feel guilt, they do not see their actions as the problem but rather your reaction to their actions as the problem.

I was playing with my cat the other night and she got a little over enthusiastic and got her claw stuck in the base of my thumb. I squeaked quite loudly and she immediately let go, got up and moved a few feet away and flopped over and just waited for me to come back over to her.
Both my cats always come over and cuddle when someone is crying, and they’re always extra cuddly when I have a panic attack. Also one time, I could hear my older cat going into the litter tray (he’s not allowed to cos he goes outside, we only got a littler tray again when we got a new kitten) I ran into the kitchen to stop him and let him outside, but I slipped and fell on my ass like a a cartoon! It really hurt and I kind of had to lay there in pain for a minute but my cat instantly came over and rubbed my head to check I was ok
My cat is a little diva who seems to feel her naughtiness is justified, but when she does cross the line she will walk off for a few minutes and come back for cuddles 😊 She's such a funny little lady!
To me this just proves cats KNOW what they did is wrong lol. Hiding, running, guilty little faces, avoiding the conversation 😅😂. They KNOW what they did and we are not happy 🤣🖤😌.
We recently had our microwave malfunction and had to get it replaced. Unfortunately, the way it happened was it made a godawful noise and the inner light started flickering while my girl Sheila was right by my feet, and in her haste to get away from the noise, she launched herself off the top of my (bare) foot. I think she was scared by not only the noise, but also my yell of pain, and she did apologize to me by doing the stare, and then coming over to rest on the back of the couch right near my head…and eventually let me pet her. My poor baby girl 🥹
I’m pretty sure my boy feels embarrassed whenever he falls down and he absolutely feel annoyed many times when I don’t do something he wants me to do like second breakfast.
Whenever my baby does some serious harm (e.g., spilling water on my laptop, breaking valuable stuff, hurting us physically in a serious manner, etc.) he gets out of our sight but not for too long. If he causes me to have a nervous breakdown (lol) he hides away immediately because I yell too much. Whatever happens it doesn't take him too long to reappear and to try to make peace. He always keeps the family members in sight and initiates intimacy as soon as possible (e.g., rubbing against dad's beard, sitting in between people and slow-blink each of us one by one, etc.). When something more minor happens, we play this game: I start to point my finger at him and raise my voice a bit, talk to him about his behaviour and follow him in the house, and he eventually lies on the floor or on the couch and shows me his belly. Needless to say I melt at that moment :') He always understands if we're fake-angry or real-angry :)
I was feeding a family cat some fish i just caught and she accidentally bit me in the finger when eating so i started bleeding a lot. Then she hid in the bedroom for hours and was quite subdued. I went to her after and pet her and talked with her to calm her and show her i loved her. I think she was sorry. :)
Cats are tactical thinkers, which is what makes them great hunters. They observe and measure results and adjust their approach. They seem to do the same with us.
