Great reflection on getting interrupted while reading on your phone vs on paper! Eek, you're right!

I do like to bring my recipe book and planner out side and do some planning. Also journaling!

Our biggest struggle during the summer is the heat. We live in Texas and already this year we're having triple degree weather and heat warnings. My plan for the summer is to chart specific times in the mornings and evenings before and after the heat is most intense, and in the in between time work on things like our handicrafts and some light summer school.

I'm also hoping to set out a bird feeder near our front porch ❤

I need ideas for sure. My kids were out all the time when they were younger but now they are older it's definitely a challenge. We also live in an area with a lot of random people walking so not quite the safest. We do have a porch we sit on and walk the dog.

That's so hard! When we've lived in the city, the best thing was to find a way to make a day of it or eat meals outdoors to get us enjoying the outside more!

All day today, I wanted to get outside with the kids in the sunshine. I had so much cooking and baking to do and laundry… Finally at 4pm they went out with dad and I finally did at 5pm. Going outside I felt almost awkward. What do I do?! Ha. I started weeding and then cleaning out the car. You know when you say something out loud and then your phone shows you a video? Well, I only thought it and this was the first video that showed up. Yikes! 😂

We don't go outside besides swimming in the pool in July and August 🙈🙈 it is unbearable. We try to have a good balance of reading books, board games and some screen time . But once the weather allows we spend hours in the outdoors.

Yes any ideas for what older kids can do to play outside. My youngest are now 7th and 9th graders and the games of outdoor play are gone. Maybe just read or garden?

Gardening is great! There's also the use of bikes and ripsticks or forts. I was chatting with a friend this morning and she mentioned needing to teach her children how to make a mud pie and going through the basics of messing around with nature!
