In this video, I go over my experience building a drone business over the past 60 days, including what's come easy, what I am struggling with, and I even provide a financial breakdown of all the expenses I've made in starting this drone business.

Thought you said a “mental brakedown”, because im having one in my mechanic job, and am going into this aerial game exactly the same as you. I bricked my mini2 trying to get it airworthy and bit the bullet for the mini3 pro.. im optimistic, and hope things work out for both of us.. im in it for the long game also!!

Fantastic to hear my friend. I completely bricked my mini 2 too, so I’m glad I’m not alone. Hopefully you can start making a nice income through droning and photography, and you won’t have to keep the mechanic job. I’m just here documenting my journey to inspire others to get aware from the jobs they hate and use their passion to earn an income. If you’re in it for the long haul, I have no doubt you’re going to succeed

Max, i hope your drone business is going better for you, i am expecting similar obstacles however gratefully my family is well known from a chain of 5 star restaurant since 1948 in two different states to a real estate company a major mechanical shop and local pro car racer therefore my familys last name had become a household name to citizens actually not only locally but around the world as well who visit here. I also have a great video editor who is working with me as well that is working under my 107 license as well in which i passed the exam and was just informed that it had already been sent out by the FAA and expected in the mail anytime now this week. My first commercial drone was unfortunately stolen and i went on and bought another which just came in the mail so looking on getting out to practice more with the commercial drone as soon as these storms pass by a bit more. The winds are just unfortunately terrible. I have two marketing short videos out now, the 45 second video is the best of the two so far and a website is being created in the next two weeks as well. Anything we can share experience wise please lets do so.

@@Max-Kuz as of this coming week, I have a website being created by someone being hired to do it since my last computer with my web design software broke, I do have some new photo editing software however. Paying for next week's website. I did put out a 46 second marketing video on RU-vid in the meantime. I will let you know when the website is out of course. Wishing you and the family a happy Easter!

@@Max-Kuz below is our short marketing video on RU-vid and if you Google the company's last name in Pinellas county Florida you will see our families restaurant mentioned , real estate agency, real estate agent Nicole Leverock, pro race car driver Brian Leverock and more. I have my 107 and a mavic 3 pro and I can’t find any clients in Austin, any advice? They either don’t respond or already have a pilot

Very interesting. I’m sure Austin has a ton of drone pilots, but I bet there’s also a need. What continues to help me is offering free work. I have gotten most of my clients through one time free work and they keep coming back. I have a few videos on the Mistakes I’ve made starting my drone business that may help you out a little.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I'm currently in High School and I was considering starting a drone business as the past two years I have been building up my skills with a mini 2 and recently a Mavic 3 Classic. Although it may be more difficult for me to turn a profit thanks for being at a younger age, I hope it won't be such a barrier. I wish you the best.

I appreciate the kind words my friend. I also started on a mini 2 to learn to fly. Whatever you have is great to learn. For commercial, you need a drone with remote ID, but that is pretty common now. One man’s disadvantage is another’s advantage. What I mean by that, is although you being young can be a disadvantage, you can also use that to your advantage. One of the ways I got my first client (who I now fly for monthly) was asking to do free work to “add to my portfolio.” I found I got a lot of responses because of my inexperience and willingness to learn. Hello I just got my FAA 107 license and website up. I basically went live with my site just yesterday. I did some work before I went live so I would have stuff to people to look at. So I am in the same boat as you just 6 months behind you. :) . I do have the DJI MINI 4 Pro and I love it and the Osmo Action 4. I do plan on getting a larger drone and a larger camera but I am in no rush the mini 4 is amazing. I also looked at how I would share photos with people so they could download them and I am using Pixiest to do that. For my site I went with square space and to charge people I am using square. I am doing a few locations for people but free of charge to get my word of mouth out there. Also I plan on doing some construction projects and contacting them after the fact to show them what I could do. To hopefully get a few of them because you dont have to color correct them. I do all my color correct also as you but I like doing all the work so I can have control of it. I do wish you the best keep at it!

Hey, I’m glad you decided to jump into starting your own business! The dji mini 4 pro is a fantastic drone to have. I even have the mini 3 pro and am super satisfied with it. No rush in upgrading, although the avata 2 has my attention recently😍 I also use pixieset for client delivery. I’m not super satisfied with it, but it isn’t too bad. I’m definitely interested in hearing more on how you use square to charge. How do your clients pay if you’ve gotten there yet? I’ve found a lot of my clients still want to send checks to me. And how do you like Squarespace for website? I’m definitely interested to hear how the construction reach out goes. Please keep me updated on that

You are not alone!!! I am at day 30 and also in the hole!! I am also doing some free work to get my name out there. How long did it take to get your waiver to fly over people? I am also in need a better monitor. I am working off my MacBook Pro, but I would love a bigger screen. We will get there!!! I am working my way away from Mastershots :)

Welcome my friend. I appreciate the kind words and sub! Free work has been my biggest help in getting clients, along with referrals. I actually have not requested a waiver to fly over people. Instead, at events with crowds, I make sure to fly around people and not directly over them. You can see more about that law here: www.faa.gov/uas/commercial_operators/operations_over_people A good, color correct monitor is always useful. That being said, editing is one of the first things I tried to outsource. I still edit most of my work, but am working towards not having to. Good luck on your journey my friend! @@Max-Kuz I was recently asked to fly an event that will go over people, so I've filed for the waiver and am holding my breath that the FAA grants it, though I am working out a plan to fly over trees instead of people in the event the wavier is denied. I agree that editing is a drag!! What do you use for software? I was just using iMovie LoL, but now I am using Resolve by Blackmagic....wow, what a difference. @@MyMaineDrone that’s awesome! Usually if you are early and seem prepared, they should grant you it. I did see a new law that lowers the restriction you may want to check out. I use the adobe suite right now. Resolve is a fantastic choice though! What do you use for photo editing?

@@Max-Kuz You are correct. You can now get a wavier slightly eaiser for a drone up to 399grams that does not fit into one of the "premade" categories, you still have to get the waiver!! For anyone reading this, don't assume you can fly your drone over people without a wavier...probably 95% of us need one...and 100% of us flying a DJI Mini will need one. You need to get prop guards and a strobe light AND keep the weight under 399 grams! The FAA will want to know EXACTLY how much your drone weighs with everything attached when you apply for the waiver!

Long story short, I got my mini 3 pro 2 weeks before they announced the mini 4. I may at some point, but the mini 3 is more than capable of handling any job I need it to

@@jorisbonson386 that’s ultimately what it comes down to, is there is no reason to upgrade rn. The only real difference between the 3 and 4 is a little better obstacle avoidance and some of the sensors. I believe the camera is practically the same

@@Max-Kuz You do get Occusync 4, more subject tracking modes and 120fps slow-mo with the 4, but yeah lots of people won't even use them...

Thanks for sharing. Best of luck to you! Consider looking into voice training, you use your voice in a "wrong" way. You have a great voice, and it would be better to listen to if you used it properly.
