Thank you Keeley and it's always my pleasure. Yes, it is quite an unusual one, I guess the vocals could of been a bit stronger. Hope you're not too tired this morning lol. Have a bonza day baby. "Shu Bop Shu Bop" xx

First time I've ever heard this one, you really do dig deep, and I'm loving it. This sounds like it was recorded at Regent Sound, as it has that high pitched ring to the vocals. But it’s written by Chester and his brother Gary Pipkin, who sang in a number of R&B vocal groups in LA, including The Electras, The Squires and The Untouchables. So putting that and the high ambience together, it’s possible this was recorded at the Gold Star Studio, in LA.

Summer in the States! I didn't know what Michael meant about British style, until he mentioned "You Don't Have To Be A Baby To Cry" with no dominant lead. Like Keeley said, it reminds of others. The arrangement is nice, and for me you could have a crow or raven doing their own telephone book, assuming they have one, and if there's some echo, I'm happy. Was there even a little arrangement touch here, among many others, of "Unlucky In Love" (Pikes, etc.)? Actually, it was the vocal turn at the end of the second line in every verse that woke me to some vague likeness; perhaps I will come full circle back around here, lol. When you get old, there's quite a bit of that! I do like this!

I thought you'd like (or at least appreciate for closure) something just discovered about our Yvonne Carroll. Just go to videos of her "Gee, What A Guy" and click on the old car at "Miss Back In The Day U.S.A.". For me, it was the 19th. upload down.

I can't find anything doing it like that Steve. I also tried typing "Miss Back In The Day U.S.A" but nothing comes up.

The "Miss Back...." thing is a blog on americaoncoffee.wordpress. com. Her entry on Yvonne was on September 30, 2019. The informative but unfortunately not terribly happy comment was from James Ronnie Teague. This time I avoided RU-vid and googled (without quotes) "americaoncoffeeflashbacks, 'Yvonne Carroll' ", and it went there straight the way, as maybe you folks over there say. Let me know if it fails. Y. C. has a way of slipping away, lol.

An even faster way I accidentally found is to google "Rich Cotton, Yvonne Morris" and scroll down about 5 to James's comment. I can't identify a St. Louis band with Mr. Malone, Mr. Cotton, & her yet. It's probably too long ago, or they were very small.

@@steveeaton9126 Oh yes, it's the article with the picture of Shirley Alston Reeves from my Yvonne Carroll video of "My Sad Love"? at the top of it. I read that a while back when I was looking for info on her. Thanks Steve.

From the very beginning, they sound very British. The harmony, the main vocals, the arrangement.
@clareons
@clareons 3 года назад
I can see / hear what you mean with their phrasing in parts. But, I bet you didn't guess, in a million years that Dusty Springfield and Amy Winehouse were Brits when you first heard them sing. Don't tar us all with the same brush lol.

@@clareons Dusty is a favorite of mine from way back and always will be. I just commented about the sound. It reminds me of the Caravelles who worked together and I think they did You Don't Have to be a Baby to Cry, and as I remember it they harmonized but not really a lead singer. Dusty could make a song hers because of her singing. I have several CD's that are British girl groups. I bought them simply to hear something new and different I hadn't heard in the US. And many of them had a similar sound. I guess it sold so they did it that way. Never would I offend you!
@clareons
@clareons 3 года назад
@@michaeltrudeau294 You didn't offend me Michael, sorry if my reply came across that way. We all have our own opinions on music. Petula Clark, Cilla Black and others have a certain UK twang in their voices to me, maybe even Sandie Shaw does to a certain extent. I've always prefered the American Girl Groups by miles and miles to ours. I just shared this cos it's rare and a half decent song lol.
