Some parts are in the Mail, some I'm still looking for PT. 2 will be fixing a few other issues, assembling and how they sound. #drums #drumkit #gretsch #gretschdrums #snare #snaredrum #vintagedrums
I just love your videos. As a senior citizen and player for 50+ years ...and a novice collector...it does my heart good to see younger folks showing love to older drums. You have quite the collection! Please keep up the great content for all us drum nerds. Many thanks Shawn!
I know your woman was like nope keep ‘em in the garage, not in here. Your fine in the interiors they were painted. Eraser is in my arsenal. Good work man, this was therapeutic for me.
thank you! And I can't as I've never tried it. I have a whole different methods for wraps, You could definitely try under a bracket in a hidden spot. I would just start with cleaning it with lightly dampened sponge with dawn/water, see how much of the yellow is nicotine/dust or krud kutter is safe on wraps too. if it's yellowing in the wrap it's a good amount of work for varying degrees of outcome.
Damn they cleaned up well! 303 Aerospace protectant should help prevent the wrap drying out/cracking more, but test it on an inconspicuous area incase it’s not compatible or something.
I frkn love this finish. Bucketlist drums for me. I even love all the defects. I personally love old beat up drums. Of course I clean them up also as best as I can. But scratches and dings… I didn’t do it. So I don’t feel bad about it. I love potted Supras too.
Nice job of cleaning man. That is a very cool wrap design worth saving. Nothing wrong with not being able for them to turn out perfect. That's character man and there is nothing wrong with a little character.
I've used toothpaste before on a new England white rogers set with bad tom rash on the bass drum and it cleaned so well in all the deep scuffs you couldn't even see it unless you touched it.
Shawn - I have owned a late 1970's Slingerland kit 6 piece kick and toms, no snare came with it - since I bought it brand new. Do you have any idea where I can get a reso head for the 24" bass with the Slingerland name on it? The original was white with black script lettering. Also, what they sold a young ignorant guy (me) was a Ludwig 6 1/2 X 14 wood symphonic snare with individually tunable snare wires. It was interesting but not the 8" x 14" snare sound I wanted at the time. Anyway, love you channel. Thank you.
I usually look on eBay randomly and see if there's any original heads for a decent price (under $50) if you look once in while they pop up but good deals go quick. if I can't find anything I buy remo smooth white head, remove the remo logo with nail polish remover or lacquer thinner and ad a decal off of eBay. Nice set! I have several Slingerlands Great drums and yeah I'm not a fan of the P87 stainer and the individual wires or the super sensitives for that matter. I like a simple strainer and wires and thank you! Thanks for watching.
Oh you will! If I had all the parts I would have waited for the video, still hunting or waiting on a few in the Mail. I'm guessing a week or so, stay tuned! Haha thanks for watching!
Everyone has their way, tons of people I know recommend both to me, people that do resto's all the time, have used both with no harmful effects. The bush def didn't scratch it at all. Thanks for watching!
@@tomkelsey2303 wasn't worked up man, if that's how it sounded that wasn't my meaning haha as I said everyone has their way, we all have the same goal! I honestly appreciate suggestions. I actually tried the Dawn by itself and was noticeably better when I used this stuff. Thanks 🙏
@@m.vonhollen6673 thanks 🙏 accent? What accent? Haha text/comments can be weird, interpreted wrong easily. I'm sure tom and I would get along just fine speaking haha while I'm "no expert" I do have a ton of experience working on drums, wood working, ect... I love the exchange of ideas which is why I said I do appreciate suggestions even if I don't use or agree with them. if I were that thin skinned that I got offended over every little comment i'd have no business posting as it's the internet, it's bound to happen haha Take care!
Wow, this is great. I've always heard about Scrubbing Bubbles and Eraser... but watching this is super helpful. I've got a 12 14 20 Camco "Moire" kit that I might have to do this to. Even though I've lived in Nashville for 40 years, your accent makes me miss New England (specifically Providence), where I started. Love the fast forward edits, too. Thanks!
Thanks man! I couldn't hide where I'm from if I wanted too haha thanks for watching! Good luck with the camco! I'd love to get my hands on a set but never see them around here! Thanks for watching!
Every time you post a video I tell myself not to be jealous owing to the lack of any vintage drums in the UK but you've done it again with a Gretsch round badge I am now truly jealous !!!
It's a bummer stuff isn't available over there like here! Thanks for your continued support! I really appreciate it and if you are ever on this side of the pond you're welcome to come by and play anything you like!
