It's jangly for sure. I've always played it: down down up, up down up down, down up down up down up which gives it that great jangly swing. Also absolutely love that someone has finally tackled how smart Julien's compositions are. Such phenomenal arrangements, the use of modes, interesting cord voicings etc. Great work man, this is awesome stuff.
Play it however works for you! And yes I totally agree! There is not nearly enough material comprehensively breaking down JC's genius, and I'm out to fix that!
I cant quite get the rhythm down. Im closer, but still off. I feel that to capture the magic of the song the rhythm guitar needs to be on point. Looking foward to a future video of this song. Thank you!
I looked at this guy's video for the jangly rhythm part, and I have to say it's helping. The alternating accent between the down stroke and up stroke is part of the magic I believe. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_sIyjCj21zY.htmlsi=ZTdfZzgRxXYCYr9i
Keep it up, i know you can do it! Just like doing low weight at the gym, set a metronome nice and slow and practice the form and speed when you're ready :)
But you don't hear it in Someday. You're stretching more than a yogi. There are no triplets in Someday and the way the lead guitar is played is not played like how you're playing it. Go listen to it again.
lmaooooo it's swung dude, and swung rhythms give a triplet-esque feel. Try playing those chords straight and you'll see what I mean. I'll give you that saying JC was channeling The Beatles on purpose would be a stretch, but that's not my point, my point is it is reminiscent of it, and that's possible regardless of intentionality on the part of the songwriter
@Matty Greg Music Swung is not triplets and he was not channeling The Beatles. I talked to JC about Someday before. Invent your own backstop but there's a genuine song where the roots came from that actually match it as opposed to warping the meaning of what a triplet is.
@@martinschmit2675 i did not say swung is triplets, i said swung gives a triplet-esque feel. I also did not say he was channeling the Beatles, I said the guitar part was reminiscent of a particular Beatles song. If you're gonna try to argue with me at least take my points properly into consideration. Sorry I haven't had the privilege to talk to JC myself, stop moving the goalposts
@Matty Greg Music Modern Love is a stronger comparison. Essentially the same drums, same build up to the chorus and similar chord progression in the chorus. And during the verse? Same timing on the lead riff hits. So, goalposts remain.
@@martinschmit2675 you're right in talking about the drums! I was specifically talking about the rhythm guitar, though, wherein i am also right! Wow! It's almost like multiple people can be right at the same time and art can be reminiscent of multiple other pieces of art simultaneously! Crazy.
