There are some great ideas here. I'm assisting a family member who struggles with mental health issues and am encouraging him to track his gratitude and the best thing that happened each day. I'm going to use some of these ideas to put together a daily page for him to fill out. (otherwise his focusses repeatedly on his negative thoughts )
I keep a planner just to track my word counts as I write my books. It’s fun and rewarding, and I’ve recently started a bullet journal that I’ve been decorating with stickers and other collage items. Great video with lots of cool ideas!
This was a great idea filled video… I used to track many of the items you mentioned … I am one of those who are currently searching for balance between form and function. Question… so… how many planners are you actually using on a regular basis? I absolutely loved the daily layout idea which takes me back to my Day-Timer days … I used them for many years but when my life changed it no longer fit or so I thought. Thanks to one of your videos a couple of weeks or so ago, I actually pulled out my current classic planner and caught up some entries and made my first attempt in months to use it again… it’s a work in progress! 🙂. Thanks for sharing your ideas and have a great weekend! 🙂
I probably use 6-7 planners on a daily basis, but prefer to do what is called a "frankenplanner" system, which means I take parts of planners out and put them in one planner. That way it is easier to access the different layouts I use and not have to carry around all those planners!
I love this video! Thank you for so many ideas and helping me to think of things to remember. Unfortunately, I have had a lot of trauma in my life resulting in numerous head injuries and oxygen being cut off to my brain. Because of this I have been extremely struggling with memory; and brain fog caused by chronic illness. God has used you to talk to me this week. This has given me hope in finding ways to get through my life day to day and remembering things I need to.
A therapist told me to just do 3 things a day. If you pick one thing, that would be a good thing with consistency. Use an alarm setting for the same time each day for planning and journal. Maybe journaling 1/2 your day maybe a start. Anyway God Bless you.
Something about writing out plans and memories on paper has always brought me great comfort and also helped to focus me. Paper planners can be used for so many purposes, some functional and some cathartic! I hope you find a process that works for you!
Really good ideas. Thank you so much for sharing!! The only other category I could think of is Memory planning. I expect to start journaling my adventures with Eric in the new year. For me, in my catch-all, I include a Blessings (aka bucket) list. I also have a Blessed list where those blessings are realized in that year. Who knows, I made it to Israel and Petra 42 years after it went on the list, so maybe one day I will see the northern lights from my bed in a glass-domed igloo. ;-) In my faith planner, I include worship songs I'm singing, and at the end of the week, the one I seemed to focus on the most noting how it ministered to me. That's the cool thing about planning to me...it's what you want it to be for motivating you to keep moving forward with life.
Love all those ideas! My parents had totally booked a trip to see the Northern Lights, but that just fell through recently. It is on my bucket list too!
omg! im new to your channel and growing obsessed with Happy planner. Im watching ur videos from the very beginnner cause i love planners but am not good at the creatvity aspect of it and it can get overwhelming!! I love love your Hogwarts planner lol!!
SSSOOooooooo many great ideas !!! I actually track alot of these things already due to health reasons, but so many new and great ideas,,,,,keep'em coming !! I have a car tracker. I track mileage per tank, miles to certain places, when I fill my car up with gas and how much it took and what I spent. When car registration and inspections are due. Maintenance and tire changes.
Great ideas. I'm still learning and figuring out what I am documenting. I had never gotten into planning until my SIL gave me a Mickey Mouse Planner and sticker book last year for Christmas. Next year I will have 3..my daily journal, one for planning our Disney trip, and one for counting down to Halloween.
Hi love! This video was packed with so many helpful tips! I just bought some new pages for my planner as I finish up my holistic nutrition program, and while I'm waiting for them to arrive, I'm watching lots of planning videos for inspo. I just wanted to mention something I noticed in your health planner. I noticed that you track your water intake (which is awesome!) and on one day you had coffee x3. (Just wanna say off the bat I'm not judging cuz I have like 3 coffees a day too.) A lot of people (not saying you, just people in general) aren't aware that coffee is such a strong diuretic that you require 2 cups of water per cup of coffee to counteract that effect. Also to calculate how much water you need per day, divide your weight by 2, then divide by 8 and that'll tell you exactly how many cups of water you and your body type needs. Then add 2 cups for every cup of coffee (or other caffeinated beverage). 💜💜💜💜
Very good ideas. I'm not a super busy person yet lol! I wrote everything down... now to figure out what I want for daily weekly and monthly. It will help a lot on where to put a box and also I could decorate a plain sheet to pop in for certain things like a Spiritual journal page or something like that. Making my own pages could help in tracking certain things too. My biggest thing is I watch ppl plan then I want to get all the stickers they have and practice a similar layout of what they did for that week etc. But I will need a good $1000 probably... Not today lol so I have to figure out what to do with what I have. I started to take certain categories out of sticker books to maybe help me to find what I want better. 😁Ooopsies I wrote you a book 🤣
I have maybe 50 sticker books, not many boxes and my washi is not that great lol. I have a 12 mo happy planner that I've done a few things but not all the time. I was thinking of back planning on figure out categories then do the new 18 mo for some different categories. I like junk journals but I'm not completely sure how to do those or why ppl do them but I love the antique style. Maybe it's more for creative crafting... Lol not sure 😁
Also you can so a Frankenplanner! It's a great concept if you like all the different planners (faith, fit, meal plan, etc.). You don't use the entire year but you do all of them on one set of rings.
It seems like extra work to make a documented planner. Creativity helps me to stick with things. It can be useful for your activities and you can see what is going on over-time sequences. I document all appointments in my planner then on my phone for my husband and me. I will use apps for my B/P recordings, then I show my Dr the readings. My planner will document I track my B/P in my app.
The whole point is to find something that works for you, so I am glad you have a good system on your phone! Something about writing things out really helps it sync in for me, so I like the paper planners.
Thank you for sharing so many great ideas of things to track. I love frankenplanning too and many things don't need an entire planner but just a page or two so one or two planners with dividers works well.
I love how you said that we could track activities of our grandchildren, too. I'm a grandma who happens to love planning and appreciate you including us grandparents. 🤗
I’m new to the planner world Had no idea it is such a big business. Love your ideas In the process of setting up my Maggie Holmes planner. Thanks so much !
There is no way I could use that many journals but I love the way that your journals look they are so cool..I have saved the video and will go back and take notes on how to add certain to my one planner
Thanks so much, Elisa! This was really helpful to go through while figuring out my planner setups for next year- ie. what to track in each different planner or section. I use three frankenplanners as well as two individual planners-for different styles of journaling. I’m keeping things mostly the same but with a couple of size changes and it can definitely get a bit tricky when deciding what goes where. I find it’s always a good idea to get things sorted out first and then make any necessary changes if challenges come up! Thanks again for sharing 💖
I am kind of anxious to figure out my planners for next year, but also pretty nervous about. I feel like I need to just sit down, decide what I want to track, and make some decisions!
Thank you the ideas. I track my health(water, exercises, sleep, steps, plus caring for my grandogger, self-care for me...). You mentioned you have a video of how you laid out your projects planner. I am interested in that one, but didn't see it listed below. What is it called so I can look for it please
This is such a great video! I started talking a little bit about what I track, towards the end of my latest video. I love keeping track of when I have exercised. I don't keep track of steps or water, but rather what workout I did, the time spent on it, and if I ran, the distance I ran. But sometimes it's easier just to tick off a yes/no box for exercise that day, which I do with Habit bull on my phone. My husband likes to know when his games are coming out, so that he knows which one to buy & complete first. I tried tracking movies, it was fun, but I think having a plan for books can sometimes help when you don't have the time to search for what to read.
Something that no one else I bet in your community would ever track and never will is that I track feeding and molting of my arachnids. I have some picky eaters and their exoskeleton needs to be hard before they eat as well.
I just started following you. So many great ideas. I know I won't use all of these but I loved hearing about them. 2022 I'm going to try adding in my financial planning to start saving money more. 💰 Excited to watch more of your videos!! I don't usually subscribe to any other planner channels except Kell of a Plan so great job!!
Your seriously amazing, the best of the best! When you shared some personal situations in your Wellness video, I cried my eyes out-clicked on your link and set up therapy! I am a christian, lately, I have been tested to my limit, even my love odf crafting took a back seat....Until you shared that help is available. You have given me a new outlook on life. Thank You! Every morning i look forward to your activity on your channel. Love From Sara, In MN
@ScrappyWife Your Welcome! I love your videos. I'm thinking about joining your university to learn about how to create a RU-vid channel and become successful like you ! I think I was born with a love of crafting!
That is always a wonderful goal! One key I have found is to set aside a specific time to work on my planners each week. It helps me stay on top of them!
The gray one on my dashboard planner? That one is an HP soft cover. I think all the covers in this video are from HP, except for the one on my main catch-all planner.
Thanks so much Lisa! Glad you enjoyed it....also, did you know that HP has a "Sewing Planner"? I haven't looked at it, but it is supposed to be helpful for planning projects 🤷🏻♀️
Sounds like you'll spend all your time planning with no time for actually living. Finding that I'm not a fan of youtube planning videos, they're full of people that have a lot of time on their hands to play with their planners all day.
It takes maybe a couple hours one day a week to do this... You just felt like coming onto a video that you weren't interested in to say something negative. I'm only commenting to up her views and ratings. Hope life is treating you better.
