600, 000 lb YACHT LIFTED OUT OF THE WATER 

I worked on a yacht that had to get an emergency haul out in Mexico. Our yacht got bumped by another yacht that was on the travel lift and we fell. We were on the bkat at the time and it was only a 6' drop, but it felt like we fell 30 feet. Crushed out whole bow wave piercer. They had to cut it off and weld a new one back on. The company that was doingnthe haul out formthe boat yard wanted their insurance to cover it, then wanted our insurance to cover it, then we found out they didn't have the right type of insurance. It was a mess. Our engineer had broken his wrist and twisted his ankle, so they also had to pay for his treatment and they were refusing. We had lawyers coming over all the time, inspectors, surveyors, yacht management. Such a hassle. If you ar ever on a yacht that has a fall, just quit. That day. Say, 'Nope, I'm out. Clif told me all about it! SEE YA!' AND THEY'LL BE LIKE 'Who the hell is Clif? What does he know?' Seriously though, it was a pain. We had to stay 2 extra weeks and by the time we finsished certifications and got our charter permit, we had 3 days to prepare formthe first charter and we still had to get all of our water toys, tenders, fishing gear and soft goods back on the boat from the storage facility.

I dont wanna smartass you but gross tonnage has nothing to do with weight. Gross tonnage is a metric of interior volume. ;) The closest you get to a weight of a ship or a yacht is called the Deadweight Tonnge (which includes other things as well, roughly the maximum displacement). You probably couldve just asked the shipyard, they would probably know what the yacht actually weighs.
