Another lesson for the man cub! Another great video brother. As an Instructor and a pipeliner, never go back to try and fill the gap if you don't get it the first time. The worst thing to do is go back up to fill the keyhole. Keep going back down as usual and feather the holes afterwards and burn over them to fill the gaps after. Keep up the great work Bob and next time, try and get $100 from the cub. LOL!!!

Don't use 6010 use 6011 runs clean on DC- and can make nice welds on sheets metal. Root passes on pipe are a breeze with 6011 on DC- and thay fall in the same filler group under most welding codes. Old guy deal.

Hey bob idk if you will reply but at school I used scratch start tig and when I did my roots a ran them at 110amps and tried a high frequency tig and one thing I noticed is when I did my root is I have to run hotter 120 or even 130 amps also I’m not able to push my wire as much as I did with scratch start. Is it just me or have you noticed that too?
@bobmoffatt4133

@@S0lidStewie high frequency isn't continuous on DC and if you have it set that way you'll likely see porosity and strange reactions.

I need help with fitting up something hopefully somebody can help. Im making a fire pit out of 4x4 piece of sheet metal center is 2x2 with 1 ft. walls. Sides are gonna be set on a 45. So the way I drew it out was put the square in the center and a straight line cut from each corner of the center to the corner of the sheet but when I turned the sides up the corners overlapped. How do I get the measurement to make them fit right?
@brettperkins5750
@brettperkins5750 5 лет назад
I like to use cardboard as a template, but I believe if you draw your square base and continue the lines to the edge of your 4x4 sheet. Measure out 6" so you have a wedge or pie cut toward the corner and repeat on all 8 sides you should be okay. The formula for 45° is up 1 over 1. So 12" up= 6" out x2 sides=12" Good luck and remember I recommended cardboard 1st.
