6029 Load Test up Cowan 

@ luke spongberg. You either didn't watch properly or were watching another video! She slips at 4:38, 4:44,4:52,5:02 and drops down to about 10 kmh, then some more slips at 6:20, 6:25, 6:53 and 6:58 almost bring her to a stall. Again she slips to a crawl around the 13min. mark and the driver has to work hard on the throttle from then on to keep her moving. Watch the driver shut the throttle at these points and then quickly re-open it. However I've been on a Garratt that stalled with a full load but was then able to restart again on the grade up to Tickhole tunnel without assistance back in 1968.

@@cliffleigh7450 I believe the driver almost slowing down was part of the load trial, IIRC it was to determine if they could start from scratch if it was to happen for real or not, I may be mistaken however, someone that is in the know can fill me in for sure.

@@lstrabt No if he was slowing down he would just close the throttle till he got down to a slow speed. Listen carefully and watch - you can hear the loco slipping and watch the driver reacting with the throttle at the times I have mentioned..

@@cliffleigh7450 If anything, this is a testament to the skill of the driver who was her during this load trial, & a great excuse to hear that majestic exhaust beat of a AD-60.
