I was glad to preside over the 60th Jamhuri Day celebrations at Dedan Kimathi Kamukunji grounds, Nyeri town.
I was accompanied by Deputy Governor H.E David Kinaniri and Nyeri County Commissioner Pius Murugu.
Nyeri stands tall as the land of Mau Mau freedom fighters, with our brave heroes and heroines such as Dedan Kimathi, General China, and Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima, who found their voices against the oppressive colonial regime.
As we commemorate our nation’s day of independence, it is also a moment of pride for my government, as we celebrate the strides we have made during our first term in office, and our first year during our second tenure.
We are proud to have operationalized our flagship projects, the Naromoru Level 4 Hospital and Field Marshal Muthoni wa Kirima Bus Terminus, which are a testament to our commitment to the development of this great County.
My administration is committed to creating ecosystems that will empower and nurture our entrepreneurs across all divides in a bid to drive economic growth. The County Industrial and Aggregation Parks (CAIPs) are one of the ways the Kenya Kwanza administration seeks to unlock the industrial potential of Counties. We have started works on the park set to be located at Agricultural Mechanization Services (AMS Naromoru), which provides a suitable location due to its strategic geo-location next to the Lappset Corridor.
We launched the third Generation Nyeri County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) for the period 2023-2027, marking a significant milestone towards setting a framework that will guide the planning, budgeting, and implementation of projects and programs geared towards achieving the manifesto and promises by my administration.
Let us recommit to building a future where the spirit of our Mau Mau heroes and heroines live on. May their bravery and resilience continue to guide you great people of Nyeri as we forge ahead towards elevating Nyeri into a prosperous County.
HAPPY JAMHURI DAY!
