（後編） 概要
日本刀販売専門店銀座長州屋が武器武具の視点から、七百五十年前の元寇を振り返るシリーズ後編【蒙古襲来】。前編では蒙古襲来時の鎌倉武士たちが腰に帯びていた刀を解説してまいりましたが、今回の後編では蒙古兵側の装備、兜と弓矢にスポットを当ててまいります。
「こんなこと造作もないはずだった―」
中原の覇者となった皇帝クビライ（フビライ）の野望の下、着々と版図を広げる元王朝。
前覇者南宋を呑み込み、高麗を配下に置き、その先の東方の小さな島国を征服することなど、いとも容易い筈であった。
あった筈が―
その小さな島国を護る鎌倉武士たちの激しい抵抗に、最新鋭の武器と世界最強を誇る蒙古兵団は予想外の苦戦を強いられる。日本の益荒男たちの勇猛な反撃に加えて季節の大風雨という思わぬ伏兵がダメ押しし、クビライの野望は二たび阻まれた。
対岸に朝鮮半島、そしてその先に大陸を臨む九州近海の水底には今もその時の激闘の残骸が眠っている。激しい戦闘の末に沈んだ船・・・、兵士たちの身に着けていた冑、そして弓矢といった武具の数々。
時を経て再び日の目を見たそれらの歴史の証言者たち。大山祇神社に奉納された有名な河野通有奉納の蒙古軍の革冑や弓矢、それと全く同様の蒙古の冑鉢と弓矢が本動画に登場致します！

(Part Two) Overview
In the second part of the series "Mongol Invasion," Ginza Choshuya, a specialty store for Japanese swords, looks back at the Mongol invasions 750 years ago from the perspective of weapons and armor. While the first part explained the swords worn by Kamakura warriors during the Mongol invasions, this second part focuses on the equipment of the Mongolian soldiers, specifically their helmets and bows.
"It should have been a simple task―"
Under the ambition of Emperor Kublai, who had become the ruler of China, the Yuan Dynasty steadily expanded its territory. Having swallowed up the previous rulers, the Southern Song, and subjugated Goryeo, conquering the small island nation to the east should have been an easy feat.
It should have been―
The fierce resistance of the Kamakura warriors protecting the small island nation forced the Mongolian army, boasting the latest weapons and the world's strongest troops, into an unexpected struggle. In addition to the brave counterattacks by Japanese warriors, unseasonal storms served as an unexpected ally, twice thwarting Kublai's ambitions.
The remains of that fierce battle still rest at the bottom of the sea near Kyushu, overlooking the Korean Peninsula and the mainland beyond. Sunken ships from the intense combat, helmets worn by the soldiers, and various weapons like bows and arrows remain. These witnesses of history, brought back to light over time, include the famous armor and bows donated by Kono Michiyuki to Oyamazumi Shrine, as well as similar Mongolian helmets and bows featured in this video.
