Don't scratch it ? So you're tractor is a display piece? Mine has 60-65 years of scratches, it has seen lots of action. One day I might get to lights and gauges. I have a bunch of brush hogging and brush work in general to do this summer and not being able to see means it's a good time to knock off work for the day. Thanks for the info on ac vs dc wiring, I did not know that.
I try to keep it nice as I can but I also use it as a work tractor so it’s always dirty just not dented and beat on. It was restored by someone who put a lot of time into it so I take a little extra care is all.
Absolutely beautiful tractor. I recently squired a 1952 8N 12V and it currently has headlights but they are not wired. I'm not sure if they ever were or if the wires were cut to remove the hood so I'm trying to figure out the whole electrical situation. Great video and once again that is a beautiful machine.
Hi, I'm trying to rewire the electricity on my grandfather's tractor (bless his memory), but can't get the front high beams to turn on, I remember there was a light and there was also a high beam, like in a car. How do you do that? do you have any idea?
Well done! This tractor is a mint! Never saw a working tractor that nice. Clean, well painted, working perfect. I even wonder where you got that grime on your hands! Looking to see how you mounted the rear light. Were they LED or halogen? You made me laugh about the colors... so true! Electricity does not matter about the insulation color! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the tips, l have a Ford 600 , 1956 that l put back to work , the last thing to do is put lights on it . Are your headlights halogen and did you go to 12 volt too?
Hi i realize that it's been a while since you have installed the lights (It's not my intention to be rude) but this may help others ... I have the same lights, technically those are for a late 50s British Ferguson (only really matters if you're trying to show it at tractor shows 😉) the Ford lights used a mount similar to the work light (on 8n's) and a large square washer inside to spread the stress on the hood. The red and white wires are high beam and low beam, the N series only had one setting on and off, but if you are happy 😊 with them great . They are nice lights but they do use weird hard to find bulbs. The rear work light can be mounted in the bolt hole high on the fender it was actually quite common practice the issue is that they almost always get destroyed by tree limbs raking across the fender or the tires catching the wiring. The bracket was Ford's attempt to move the taillight and work lights inside the fender s to better protect them and the wiring. In the decades before the slow moving vehicle triangle sign on tractors it was common to add a taillight if you were going to use it on roads I'm not aware of them ever actually using them as a brake light though.
"They are nice lights but they do use weird hard to find bulbs." I have the same lights and cannot find replacement bulbs. Where did you find them, as I'd like to order a set.
