I had the Hornby version of this years ago, including the mail car with working mail pickup function. I'm not a huge fan of steam but this is one of those steam trains that I genuinely do like.
Your missing out mate they have an almost alive feel to them , my uncle drove them late 50s early 60s got me addicted then ,nearly seventy now and still love the sound and smell of steam ,smoke and hot oil Rail or traction engines got something diesel can’t match,as for electric it’s got the character of a washing machine on wheels.
A vision virtually nobody still alive saw. Whereas millions saw them with BR numbers and liveries. The very same people who long to see them as they remember them
