Did that fixed your problem? I have a 63 impala and I have the same issue with differential fluid by the rear driver side wheel. I wonder if changing the bearing seal would solve the issue
Hay how are ya? The bearing is sealed pre greased with integral seals and o-rings to seal the bearing to the housing. This should fix your problem, however DO NOT USE SKF BEARINGS!!!! My problem has NOT been addressed as I rid of the problem altogether after $3000 and 7 bearings. Take care
@@sixtyfourchebby4507 Thanks for the quick response. I guess some of the new reproduction parts don't fit well as the originals. If they can't fix my problem I might go that route too and buy a new axle. Thanks again for the advice
@@CARLOSVLA5 no problem! There are good parts out there, but the original differential is very expensive and very limited in parts. I didn't replace the differential, I replaced the owner. I might do a video on the whole deal, but it is not exactly positive. Would you like a video about the outcome? Thank you for your quick reply!
@@sixtyfourchebby4507 I see some advertisements for the differential and parts and yes they are about 3k that's what I thought you meant on your comment. From other videos I see on YT, looks like this is a common issue with 55 to 64 Chevys
@@CARLOSVLA5 my original bearings never leaked but were crunchy having sat for over 30 years. The bearings were changed when I had the differential out to do bodywork, I thought it was a preventive service... The bearing whose seal is green in color supposedly is the one to use based on research. The new owner of the 64 will be having one installed, and I will report on it.
