We bought this stone house in Italy during the pandemic in 2020. The house was a ruin and we saved everything we could, unfortunately that meant only four stone and clay walls! The back wall, against the terrain, was close to collapse; the roof beams were eaten and basically reduced to dust; the inside separation walls were easily taken down and the whole project turned into a heavy renovation/rebuild.

Agreed. As long as they are laid flat and evenly. Will prolly have to seal them to make them stain resistant and cleanable.

Hello! Nice to see you, Maddi! When I lived in Italy, we had a condo and the floors were terra cotta tiles! I fell in love with them then and have wanted a home with them in it forever! Sadly, our house has terrazzo floors, original from 1955 when the house was built. We won't be replacing those EVER!! Hahahaha!. But I loved watching you clean the dirt and oil off these old tiles. Terra cotta tile used to be sealed with wax and/or boiled linseed oil or other oil. I sealed terra cotta cotta tiles in South America with modern products and they still stained depending on placement, use and wear. I happen to love the uneven colors that occur naturally or with much use. Your home will be incredibly beautiful!

Scolling, I see people suggesting acid. I used a sandplaster with garnet, to clean my reclaimed tile and stone. It might work well for you around the windows and door where you have filled in too. I repaired a stone wall a few year ago. The repair looked new, of course. I blasted around it and out into the old stone some, two years later you can't tell as much where it has been repaired. Love watching you restoring this home.

Beautiful tiles - how fortunate you were to find them. A tip: you may have had something in place while sanding them, but cover/plug your ears as well. That is one kind of dust you don't want building up in your ear canals. Mine absorbed old lime plaster dust and my doctor was livid that I did not have my ears covered while working with it - total PPE in other words.

you probably know this, if they come from different projects mix them well before using them or use only the same ones for the same room. otherwise you'll be left with one corner of a room looking totally different (even if on the pallette they all looking roughly the same)

You don't need to clean the terracotta tiles up perfectly but you might find getting some brick acid helps you get the finish you want. You could just paint on some brick acid onto the cement/concrete patches and either wire brush it or use a scraper. The sander will take most of the lime or cement off and then to try to use the brick acid (white vinegar works well for lime apparently) should help remove almost everything. I used an old spray bottle to spray on brick acid - it worked well.

Pour nettoyer la ponceuse, ses trous d'aspiration et son bac à poussière il faut utiliser l'air comprimé. Pour enlever la poussière des tomettes, le compresseur est plus efficace que l'aspirateur. Bon courage pour la suite. 😉

Your flooring will have genuine antique character from the stains and marks that cannot be totally sanded away. You will, of course, apply a sealer to the top surface. Your Black Wolfe is a shy animal but is completely devoted to you. Gratzi !

Hi there, if the stain is from lime/plaster, you migth apply a bit of hydrocloric acid (HCl) to the surface (use some bowl where you can put about 7-8mm deep HCL, and put the tiles): If lime was used previously on these, this will disappear. Of course, try on the broken ones first. And do not forget to rinse them after the treatment, This acid could be could be quite agressive.

Is er een reden waarom je de binnen-scheidingsmuren niet hebt gemetst met stenen in de plaats van een houten constructie. Zou dit niet minder werk zijn geweest. Toch proficiat voor je toewijding en algemene kennis in de bouw. Het blijft leuk om de vorderingen te zien.👍

Building with stones would have been a lot of work too 😅 also it would have been necessary to make the walls wider and therefore we would have lost some space in the house ☺️ hemp blocks could have been a good alternative!

J'imagine que vous devez être heureux de pouvoir passer à autre chose 😉 Les pavés en terre cuite sont magnifiques 🤩 Je ne pense pas qu'il soit forcément nécessaire de les nettoyer parfaitement. Les différences de tons et même les petites imperfections ajouteront encore un peu plus de cachet à votre jolie maison, il suffira de les assembler pour que l'aspect général soit harmonieux. J'espère que vous trouverez assez facilement ce qu'il vous manque encore. Courage pour la suite ! Câlins à la poilue 😘

Looking at the tiles, do you plan to put a glaze on top to make them shiny? Just curious. They look so nice and will be a great addition to the finish. Not sick of watching the coatings being put on the wall, just waiting on the blue tape to disappear, Then I will know the walls are finished, lol. They do look better with each coating. The picture of this house in the beginning of the videos gives you a better understanding of the amount of work that has went into this project. Great work too. Take care and will see you next week.

The filler is a little too stiff, stir it up again with a little water and then it will be much easier to work with. The spatula can then also be significantly wider

Neat production line of moving ' cleaning and sanding the tile. Would using all including the less attractive tiles give your floor character and a send a of its history? Here in US tiles similar that come from Mexico sometimes have care or other small animal footprints in the finished sun baked tile. You both are doing a wonderful job. Dedicated and so professional. ❤❤😊

Está quedando preciosa la casa. En el tema de las manchas de laa placas de terracota, no probaron con ponerlas en agua y vinagre? Porque si es sarro o manchas calcáreas, el vinagre las elimina muy bien.

Se vi mancano piastrelle di cotto, vi potete rivolgere alla Fornacia San Marco (gruppo Terreal) che realizza nel suo sito di Noale pezzi faccia a vista anche per restauro palazzi di Venezia e regione.
