Early December I tested the new Tesla Model 3 Highland (rear-wheel-drive) in the Swiss alps over a distance of 238 km in very winterly conditions and temperatures between 1° C and -8° C.
The car I tested was the Model 3 standard range (2024 model year) with the 61 kWh LFP battery which is known to be charging rather slowly in cold weather. While the consumption was very good, the charging speed was disappointing, despite pre-heating the battery for 45 mins before charging.
The cabin heating, however, works exceptionally well, and the car defrosts within minutes. The standard heated seats and the heated steering wheel are a joy in cold weather.
Overall, the car drives well in snowy conditions and the traction from the rear-wheel-drive unit is excellent, even on a steep slope with ice and snow. The tyres used in the test were Pirelli Sottozero 3 in the dimension 235/45 R18.
I hope you enjoyed the video! Thank you for watching and please subscribe to my channel!
PS Full review of the Tesla Model 3 Highland (rear-wheel-drive LFP standard range) will follow later in December 2023.
Filmed in the Swiss alps in December 2023. Filmed and produced by DNTS Productions.
