If you want to get out of Akihabara for more shopping in Tokyo, head to Nakano and check out Nakano Broadway! This shopping center has lots of stuff, including shops filled with figures and a system of Mandarake shops woven throughout (each one specializing in different goods). Definitely check out the Mandarake shop with the Gunpla!

I don't think at list price, but maybe close to it. It depends on how rare the kit is.

Well a lot of these larger shops you can get tax-free if you spend over a certain amount.

It's really on a shop by shop basis, some places don't allow filming or photography, but they'll usually have pretty prominent signs saying so. For the most part I've always stayed away from filming in stores, but that's mainly because I've always felt like weird doing so anyway.

Could be anything from protecting the cels in that one shop from flash photography to guarding their pricing from competitors.

Yeah honestly I think the main reason is related to their pricing. They don't want competitor shops coming undercutting their prices. That said, I obviously wasn't an employee of another shop, but they can't discriminate right, so just make all photo/video prohibited. Though, I don't know what's stopping someone from coming in with a pen and paper and taking everything down, so I dunno...

Japanese shops like this usually don't allow filming. The only reason I usually get away with it is because I'm sneaky, and a foreigner.

no place selling cheaper ganpla than in Japan. consider its GDP ; paid per hour. ganpla there is very cheap. 800-1500yen for HG that is about the same price for average meal bowls.

If you will go to Nakano Broadway again, I recommend one Mandarake on the second floor. You will find resin kits of Gundam there. And one more gunpla shop is on the first floor. This shop sells built gunplas. This shop is a little hard to find, and this shop is closed in Wednesdays. I must tell these shops before you came to Japan, I am sorry.

Were those pachinko machines? I'll tell you what, when I go to Japan next summer, I will be shipping home a very large box of Bandai water slide decal sets. Every time I need a set, it is on backorder on HLJ and the only place I find them available is on Ebay for like $25 ....for a set that should cost $5 at most....really annoying. Any recommendations for ordering decal sets that are fairly priced?

Ah, not kits, but I tried to sell something (honestly I forget what it was) and the money they offered was so pathetic I decided not to sell! I don't know how it is for model kits but I doubt it's very good. That's one reason why I don't know why anyone would sell stuff to a shop :/

Yep really lots of cool stuffs including the expensive metal build ones. Also didn't expect the EX SD Exia to be so expensive in Japan itself, that irony!
