I had been considering the slim pickings but that multipick looks Nice, and under an oz. I would definitely use as an edc. If you dumped your pocket it wouldn’t draw any unwanted attention.
I've got a Slim Pickings on the way. Good thing about that is that the Riv Pick is completely removable and you could carry that as an incredibly small jackknife style set. I think this Miltipick set, especially with all the optional tool inserts, is a pretty excellent deal.
Again we purchased the same thing at the same time.. I am starting to work on custom lever lock "picks". I really want to make my version of the ERA Fortress decoder with the graph and the pointer not the plasticine one...That will be next. I am also going to make custom tension wrenches also. I am going tomorrow to Realtors in my area to hand out my cads and offer my services as a locksmith. I want this to work out so that I do not have to go back in to the snake pit that is big Pharma...
unfortunately mad.bobs is the worst business i have dealt with in 15 years. you pay them $50 down payment for some tools and never hear back from them. You put in an order for a jackknife, they say they all have covid, and will resume business in 2 weeks, you wait 4, still nothing. no wonder they went out of business!
@sandman_locksport that's unfortunate to hear. I've only delt with them once, when I ordered my jackknife several years ago. And now that you mention it, I did have to contact them to follow up on my order as I didn't hear anything for a while.
Also, with regards to the multipick tension wrench, if you can find a similar sized wrench, you can cut the end down to a length that works well as a TOK wrench (3-4mm?) and slide it under the included tension wrench. That way you have both options. (The Lockmaster jackknife has this two wrench setup included.)
@@sandman_locksport Equally unfortunate is that they are no longer technically in business -- they still do some small runs of certain products, but are not at all at the same scale as they were back in 2018. I believe they made a statement regarding this due to the increasing competition in the locksport sphere and they were not able to keep up. Their prybars were probably the best in the market (and the first ergonomic ones, to boot). They were a potentially great company, but did not get out the door. Personally, I am upset because the Ghost Pro (their flagship set) used a bad batch of steel which was either annealed entirely incorrectly or was composed with the wrong steel entirely. Supposedly they were using 301 HY, but many reviewers found it to be extremely soft comparable to 301 non annealed (that is, not even comparable to the quality of Full Hard). It also lacked a medium hook, so you had a short hook and a wildly oversized one nearing a postal hook (not even a deep hook depth). They had some excellent ideas but seemed to lack the critical information from either the locksport groups at the time, or the smiths at the time, and sort of made kits that were not useful for either audience.
Great review. I think this is probably the best quality jack knife on the market. The only thing it's missing, for me, is a pocket clip. Wendt make a fairly decent jack knife that has a pocket clip but isn't quite the quality of the Multipick
The multipick is great and of high quality. It is sleek and carries well in the pocket, but I've found the ~0.020" picks to be a bit too delicate and bend easily. In my opinion, the lockmaster (made by Wendt) is a better EDC type of jackknife. The picks are more durable at ~0.025", which is fine for about 95% of the locks you actually encounter in the real world. That durability comes in handy if your working on a masterlock that's spent a few years seasoning in the field. The plastic body doesn't feel quite as high quality, but it's plenty durable as well.
You made me wonder how much my Mad Bob's carbon fibre jackknife weighed that I have in my EDC.... FYI it's 15.4g 😀 I lent it to Lock Noob for a review if you're interested? That does look like a good one and I like the idea of the magnet.
The dangerfield jackknife with expansion kit would probably be my first choice if we’re excluding the CC. Think u can review that one at some point in the future?
That is sick! Can't wait to see the sparrows because I have been debating on what myself is getting myself for the holidays! And btw, I I keep thinking I'm going to get a nice letter from CI or multipick, I did not know that's something you did. Haha😂. Happy holidays, bruv.
