I have owned 2 new 6620's in my lifetime. First was an 1981 level land hydro, then traded it for a 1983 6620 side hill. 81 didn't work to good on our hills. We still have the 83, has close to 5000 hours. I still get it out to run about 200 acres of beans every year. With the light axle check for cracks around the center tube where the bushing is, that is where they break. Their is a pretty big different between axles. Some guys around here swapped out the light axle for the heavy duty. Other wise they are a pretty good machine.
Nice video, I ran one for a few years when they were new. You are right about fires happening fast. I had the bearing go in the variable feeder house drive pulley and debri started to burn, if not for the tractor and wagon driving beside me I would never have known until too late.
Beautiful combine. I honestly don't think you own anything dirty. We got rained out the first time yesterday afternoon. We've only covered about 100 acres. With 350 left to go. Been through 4 rotor clutch switches for the thrasher 2 different combines shaker shoe shaft and an unloading auger. Also 4 air valves on the semi and a rear end. It's not been a fun fall. Hope you have better luck then us!
That a pretty good looking combine. What part of Iowa are you in? I'm about an hour SW of Sioux City. Last year I was also done with beans by now. They can turn the sprinklers off any time.
Ag Wild thanks. Im northeast of Sioux City by about 2 hours. (Cylinder Iowa) Gonna be a fall to remember for sure. I think we probably share the same weather pattern
keithdilts I've bought most of them off of eBay. 55 watt hid is what most of them are. I have learned that the cheap ones from china don't have good ballast in them so beware of that.
What brand 2-way radio do you use. What is the range. Is it easier just to put in a CB radio. Thoughts? Thanks for your time. I have a 6620 Turbo, just like yours but a 1981 model
In our cab we have three knob dials to the left. On top it has a negative and positive, next it has small, medium and large circles and on the bottom dial it has a picture of the combine. Could you possibly tell me what this is, our combine the previous owner didn’t have manual and ours is currently in the mail shipping to us.
Your must have a grain loss monitor system. On the back of the straw walkers and behind the chaffer there are pads that somehow read when you are running grain out the back of the machine. Thats about all i know about them
Ever hear of anybody getting a hole in the engine oil drain hose and then running the engine dry on oil seen a old Post on agtalk it happened to a farmer
In corn i run the fan about as fast as itll go. Bottom sieve open 3/4 and adjust top chaffer to keep the bigger pieces of cob out. If your getting too many cobs you might have your cylinder running too fast or concave too tight and grinding the cob
I've came close to burning our 9650 up twice first time got in a hurry switching it to beans and the belt on the chopper when I put it in high gear I didn't get it all the way on the top and it was running on another belt but I smelt it in the cab so I stopped then the second time I plugged the feed excelerator cutting rye but it didn't plug my feeder house tell the smoke was a rolling from the belt but hopefully there isn't a 3rd time lol
Josh Fanter it's never a good feeling when you smell something hot or see smoke in a combine. Hope your having a good fall and keep the second time the last time. Lol
I dont have that machine anymore but yes there is 2 under the seat. One is for the unload lever and the other is on the main drive. The main drive one is kinda hidden but definitely one you dont want to leave untouched
You need an operators manual. It has pictures for each fitting and an arrow of the location on the machine. Trying to explain each one would be a short novel, lol. I always look at the manual so I don't forget anything, by the time I remember them I'm done for the year! There's multiple greasing intervals, ranging from every 10 hours to every 400 hours.
I am looking at purchasing a1983 6620 that has made its way from Canada to Montgomery Alabama. Has 1900 original hours and in great condition. Has a record book in the cab of every repair made to it. The guy had a 920 flex head in good condition as well he is asking $15,000. Seems a little over priced. What are your thoughts.
@@ronniedavis1054 i would say thats kinda steep. I sold mine and 220 head for 10,000 last year. They are good machines but after having a 9500 i would have a hard time going back and money wise that isnt far from a 94 or 9500
