Actually, you just watched a 10 year old boy, who 50 years later, remembers very clearly what a joy it was (and is) to play with Hot Wheels.

All the original redlines (Hong Kong and US) have thin axles that can be straightened with a tune up wrench. The wrench fits on the exposed axle between the tire and the chassis. For badly bent axles it can take a good deal of time to get them straight again.

I am waiting for the Hot Curves Race Action Set from eBay. It will be coming with several other pieces but no cars. The pictures showed one white wall and two red jump pieces. I noticed you used the jump pieces for taking off and landing but I remember them being on one end of the track back then. Although, perhaps I'm mistaken in this detail. I don't think the set I purchased will be coming with a set of instructions. I remember playing with a Hot Wheels set around 1968 or 1969. I have purchased several 1968 cars from eBay. I will need to obtain a wrench for some of them. I had never heard of the Tune Up Tower, that looks really cool!

All the information I have is what you see from 15:27 to 15:34. The package describes the lube as a white oil. I believe that means it is mineral oil.

The easiest way to support a loop is to put it on some thin wood (particle board) and tape the loop to the wood. For the bigger loop support you are looking at, I used 1/2 inch hardwood. Cut out a rectangular base and then used a jigsaw to cut out the 4 wood supports that connect the base to the loops. Then use screws or glue to hold the wood supports onto the wood base. It's pretty basic actually.

The steeper the curve, the more speed a car retains going through the curve. However, the steeper the curve, the more likely the car is to fall out of the curve at lower speeds. It's a bit of a trade off.

Good question. I don't know if Mattel puts any lube on new car axles in the factory anymore. I'm guessing not because it would be an extra cost. Also, even small amounts of lube on brand new axles is of limited benefit. Get a little too much lube and the car will run slower.

i have some cars in the card closed..do you believe the axles in the future have problem with corrosion one day??

Presuming that Hot Wheels axles are made of steel, then rust (iron oxide) can occur with enough exposure to water (high humidity) and oxygen. That said, I've never heard of Hot Wheels' axles corroding while in the blister pack.

The loop holder is made from wood. It consists of a base and four brackets. I cut them out with a jigsaw. Then one screw in each bracket to hold them down on the base.

The wheel wrench does not work on current Hot Wheels cars because they have thicker axles. It does work on Hot Wheels redlines, Ultra Hots and Hot Ones.
