Love Atog decks! Also, love "Streets of Whiterun" playing in the background :)

UR Burn could and should have made better decisions.

Agreed. There certainly were some plays that could had been made differently in this one. But hindsight is always 20-20 and sometimes it’s way easier for us to see clearly when being relaxed and rewatching a game, than it is when sitting at the table and the pressure (and beer) is on 😂 though I can’t speak for the pilot here obv. I wonder whether it would be interesting to hear other pilots train of thought during a matchup. I’m considering perhaps inviting a pilot in - f.ex when going over a tournament final. Just so we can pick their brain and hear the reasoning of why they do what they do in the match. Atm I can only provide my own thoughts, when I’m one of the pilots in the replay. I think that would be a pretty cool extra little feature sometimes - though it would require some extra work and coordination between me and the other player. Do you think that could be worth it? Or too boring? Thoughts?

Gandalf the Dark I wouldn’t mind commenting with you watching a match. That would be cool. Sounds like a good idea.

Both players made some misplays. UR should've dropped his strip mine on the taiga before playing the psionic blast. Why the Atog player didn't red blast the ancestral recall was just strange. But yeah, I suppose it's easier for us to see these plays when we know what deck each player is on, what they have in hand, etc.

That was a very quick match from a very quick deck. An enjoyable match to watch. Smash Atog just drew all the answers to the threats for that Su-chi in game 2!

Thanks for the comment! Hehe yes Lady Luck provided smash-Atog with some key defenses at just the right time :)

13:25: Big mistake. Playing the Strip Mine first and destroying the only untapped land would have guaranteed the destruction of the Sushi after the Combat Phase.

Another question if you guys have the time. If u cast a berserk on one of your blocking creatures is it still destroyed. I have googled it several times and still no clear answer. Also if you have a certain site U check for card explanations that may help that would be great 😊. Just started playing again after about 20+ years of the cards collecting dust. Not as clear on the rules as I used to be. Thanks all

No problem at all Chris - ill try to the best of my abilities, but sometimes I can be wrong! ;) 1) casting berserk on a blocking creature will not kill it (if it survives the combat ofc). Only an attacking berserkinf creature gets destroyed by it (btw it can regenerate from a berserk if it has the ability - it’s not like a “sacrifice”). 2) I use oracle for the modern rulings and errata of cards. Just google mtg and oracle and you’ll get the page :) Great to hear you’re coming back to the game after over 20 years. Have fun with the format. It’s awesome!

Answered it perfectly. I knew it didn’t say so on the card but had never seen anyone use it that way in the videos. Thanks for the Oracle recommendation, I will check it out. Seeing you guys play old school reminds me of 7th grade and I would do anything to play In some of those games. Looks like great fun. Not too many old school players around my small town of Vermont. Take care

That would be fun! I know the feeling. In the beginning there was nothing where I live either - OS was live and well in other Danish cities but for some reason there was no activity here. I traded OS cards with some people that I found via an OS Facebook group and later realized they were local. I asked the first couple of people if we should meet up and get some games in one day. We did and I posted in fb groups every week about our tiny playgroup to see if more would join. As luck would have it there was a bunch that wanted to play locally but never had anywhere to go. Anyway perhaps you can write in American Mtg facebook groups and ask if there are active players from your area or failing that- people that would be willing to start up? You might be lucky like I was. 🤞
