Imagine a modern 8V92 Detroit 2 stroke. Twin blowers (one on each side), opposed piston, long stroke, with an electronically controlled mechanical injection pump or common rail system, no EGR, and no DPF. A DEF system would be enough.

Yeah but that's the same with those two stroke Detroit you kind of have to drive them like that or you know it's hard to get power out of a two-stroke when they're not revving up high
@@thomashammonds-ve1pnSounds weird. The fact that you had to rev out a diesel engine is really weird. Nowadays from 2000rpm upwards a diesel engine has instant power. Crazy how technology changes.
@@Jean_1999 I know right technology has come a long way in the automotive industry over the years and it's crazy that there's old two-stroke Detroit's had to be revved up high to get the power out but I'd still take a old-school Detroit Diesel over anyting nowadays even over a Cummins sorry you can't go wrong with a good old Detroit Diesel
Beautiful noise! I remember when those Illinois farmers hauling good hogs and corn would turn their Detroit 350's up to 2400 rpm. Wow! I'm told they ran better that way. I ought to buy be one of these and live in it.

The old 2 strokes made a lot of noise but they didn't really go. You see how much shifting and RPMs there is but it's not really picking up the speed. Back in the day that was hauling ass. I'm not bashing the truck or the driver but I've driven a lot of those years ago with the 2 sticks.
Well yeah , they're really nothing compared to newer engines, at least in terms of raw brute force output, they relied on higher rpms and had considerably less torque down low

This is what scared BIG GOV to ban 2 stroke diesels using strait out pipes, no capture from mufflers like cat converts which would be cleaned flushed or changed every few years for typical maintenance as we did with our KWOP K123 COE 8V71T !
Beautiful noise but I’d hate to hear this thrashing around the streets constantly. We have a lot of zones where trucks have to limit compression braking and noise for suburbians

It's a V8 diesel with straight pipes that's actually a 2 stroke, so it sounds like it's running twice as fast as it actually is. He was only revving to about 1500 rpm here. This was a very common sound on the highways in the 70s and 80s.
