Public Domain Week continues at Warlock's Movie Realm. Emil Jannings was the very first Best Actor winner and one of the two roles he won the award for was tonight's movie. That movie is the 1928 drama THE LAST COMMAND.
Jannings is an ex-general in the Russian army that fleed to the United States after the revolutionaries overthrew the government. He's scratching out a meager life as an actor when a director recognizes him. The director is a former Russian revolutionary and casts Jannings as a General to stick it to him. Sounds like a good plot, but will the movie be good? Let's find out.
