@blackore64
@blackore64 3 года назад
@@esapesukarhu8054 More and more you see Plate carriers as just used as general purpose armor, which is of course is fine for purposes it was designed for, but kind of sucks for other purposes (such as fragment protection) Finnish M17 vest for example being a prime offender. 6B45 is not exactly a plate carrier, but in my opinion it is a very good compromise between being (somewhat) light like one and actually protecting from fragments and such.
@Phantom-bh5ru
@Phantom-bh5ru 3 года назад
Yea very important. Also with a proper plate carrier you would be able to use steel blades without having to wary about spalling. And because steel is much more durable as they barely loose any structural integrity unless shot directly at the same spot and some other benifits I don’t see why they are not widely adopted
@voler_1925
@voler_1925 2 года назад
@@Phantom-bh5ru literally no, steel makes for garbage armor. there have been more than one case of ar500 plates shattering after being hit with ss193. it weighs considerably more than ceramics or UHMWPE plates without a spall liner, and even more with them, the weight and density of the fairly thin steel plates wears out plate carriers which typically cost more than the steel plate(usually not for people using steel, because those people are poor and use cheap shit like condor). the reason why you don't see why they are not widely adopted is because you fail to understand how armor works. Steel armor is garbage, it has no advantages over ceramic plates other than cost, but at the loss of being usable armor, imagine getting shot and the spall goes into your forearms and biceps, you would still be less effective or unable to fight after that. neck protectors are also not really that important now days because armor doesn't need to cover everything, mobility is the best prevention to getting shot, and will increase survivability over being covered head to toe in extremely heavy armor, neck protectors and armoring up drastically increases the likely hood of heat stroke, rolling ur ankles, or other out of combat injury and makes doing everything clumsy and cumbersome. You can't fight if you hurt yourself before the fight even happens

Awesome to finally know why the hell that ceramic was red haha. Also, sidenote on the 6b45 carrier. After using both US IMTV and CIRAS plate carriers extensively vs 6b45 I appreciate the buckles on the 6b45 cumberbund. No one ever thinks about it, but ever hold a hair dryer or get grass stuck in Velcro? Imagine what crawling through the grass, hot ass sand, and mud for weeks does to it. And once Velcro is ruined there is no way to fix it, vest just flops open. And you're in the field trying to ductape your shit closed with no personal gear reissue in sight.

@@KoishiVibin Time to kill will probably be around the same when the proper plate system is finally added to the game. Shot placement to the waist or the sides will be super important. Also, if people were accurately simulated, most people would become incapacitated after being shot to the limbs. There is plenty of liveleak videos of people being shot during a firefight and immediately stop returning fire. Video games will most likely never be able to simulate this while still being fun. There are exceptions like playing ArmA with mods.

GOST 6A isn't inordinately surprising here. M995 relies a lot on amorphization of strike faces and its passable core to beat the plates. This is why some quotes sat at 50m for beating IV, and then we have IVs eating it at zero. AlO has no such vulnerability, hence the M995 round is relying purely on its lowered velocity, and passable core, to beat a strong NIJ IV+ equivalent.

I've been talking a lot to a buddy, concerning 7.92 S.m.K.H. rounds. I'd love to see that one against modern day ceramic armors. Some tables say that it could go through 20mm of steel at 300 meters (Which i don't really think is true. At point blank, with some mid-tier tank steel, maybe, but at 300 meters, no fucking way.

Hey impressive work on this experiment, not my place to request anything, it's I possible to add a magnum or sub 30 cal hunting rifle cartiages like. 270win to your standard tests these caliber have been used it conflicts where civilians take up arms I've always wonder how effective armour is at pretecting from the blunt force of such rounds, they kill moose and dangerous game rather well and a readly available pretty much everywhere that sells ammo, it may be an interesting anicdote on an already fantastic study, cheers thanks for the video

99% of airsoft "AK-74M" do not even have 5.5mm stock pins. (they're mostly knockoff bulgarian AKS-74s, with a different-looking stock) There's basically one brand with 5.5mm stock pin but no proper AK-74M details, and one discontinued brand that got it mostly correct.

@@sneakybuddy8084 That's the one with 5.5mm stock pin but no AK-74M features(at least not the proper ones - lack of lightening cuts on front sight block, smooth long collar muzzle brake...etc.; you can only pretend it's a refitted AKs-74 which can technically be called AK-74M) VFC is discontinued.
