The 6br Norma is the Black Labrador Retriever of target cartridges. Subscribe and hit notification bell.

I prefer to call it the Yellow Labrador Retrievers of target cartridges, but I’m a little biased.

@@orangetlr I changed the pinned comment to include all Labs. The Yellow ones are cool as anything.

Those 6 br's all shoot awesome. I pulled the barrel on my savage 6br and put a 6 dasher to get a little more out of it at 1k. I HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

The biggest problem the 6br has in the accuracy department is human error.

We should petition the government to pass a law that changing winds are illegal at a shooting range. I got a hankering for a grilled cheese sammich now!

Send it over to Joe. He will make an executive order on it.

I love the velveta cheese slice reference. That should be a standard reference now!

I wish I were using cheese slices for corrections and not having to use cheese blocks.😬

Good video Toadley, you are very lucky to have the Vernon range, and good shooting. Time and effort pay of, as we can see.

You are right about being lucky. I have know the owner of VNSP for almost 50 years and he treats me like family.

Im definitely considering this cartridge on my Rem 700. It'll probably only be two slices shorter on target than the 6 ARC savage 😆. The 700 runs so much smoother

If there's a cheese shortage you'll be able to slice it with the 6BR

You certainly have some shooters Mike. That 6.5 X 47 and this fella are certainly hitting the mark. Well done. 👏👏👏 👋👋👋

Thanks Pilot. Next up is the 22-250. 52 grain at 300 yards should be challenging.

When I talked to James about 1 week ago he had fast twist 6br's in stock I think.

I'm looking for a 6 mm to build my next rifle around I was wondering what your thoughts are on the 6mm br with a fast twist barrel versus a 243 or a 6 mm creedmore both ways fast twist barrels. I wouldn't mind I'm more exotic or wildcat 6 mm and I'm comfortable fire form in my own brass
@ToadleyBrowne

When answering this I think about shooting comfort as well as previous rifles I have built/bought in a variety of cartridge sizes. (243 win.,6.5 Grendel, 260 remington, 6.5x47 lapua, 6.5 creedmoor, 6.5-284, 7-08, 308's, many 22 cals right up to 338 LM and 45-70) Any shooter will perform better if the rest is disturbed as little as possible from shot to shot as well as the way felt recoil gradually wears a shooter down. The 6br in a fast twist 1:8 will perform better for score shooting on paper targets. Powder is in the 30 grain range using 105 grain projectiles so on a comfort level, recoil fatigue wont be an issue over several rounds neither will be barrel throat erosion. The 6 creed and 243 have larger powder capacity (around 40 grains), more muzzle blast and for shooting steel at long ranges they would be fine and may be slightly flatter shooting but with that little more velocity comes quicker barrel wear. You can mitigate recoil with a muzzle recoil reducing device but then you will find that 50% of the time the person shooting next to you may not be benefitting from your reduction:) Because of comfort and the 6br having a solid history of excellent performance the 6 BR would be my choice. It all depends on what you want to do. I am seeing a lot of PRS long range steel shooters going with the 6 creedmoor because they have less drop and less wind. The 6creed also has more recoil and that is a severe distraction compared to the BR. If you are looking for the most consistent small groups go with the 6BR Norma. If you want to smash steel at very long distances beyond 1100 yards then you might want the 6 creedmoor or 243 instead. Thanks for the question. Just my thoughts and opinion base on my experiences. Have a good weekend.:)

I guess you have pretty much sold on the 6br with a 1 and 8 twist. That puts me right about the bullet size I want to shoot. And actually the high end of the powder capacity that I want to burn in the 30s. Nowadays it's about getting the most for my money and I have to realistically take into account the distances that I shoot. Most of the time it's 100 yards but when I stretch it I'm only you going out on a regular basis to 400. So what's the point of having all that extra I'm just a blow up milk jugs in the backyard when anything shooting 2500 ft per second or more well have an explosive effect on a jug full of water. When I really boiled it down comfort is what I'm looking for. I've considered an AR conversion to a 6mm-45 but a bolt action with a tight smooth action in 6 mm br is where I'm going to go. Hell, I've been loading down my 308 just for comfort and that doesn't tell me everything I need to know
