It looks like with the constant negative comments they seem to be getting lately, it seems certain now that they are coming on a 3rd or 4th place finish...i'm guessing 4th at this point based on who the judges are pimping really.
they sang Janet Songs of "What Have You Done For Me" & "When I Think Of You" & "Miss You Much"
I do think this group has the best groove out of everyone left so far and they do do R&B justice. However i'm not so sure i liked this performance...i guess it was good but i don't think i would listen to it again and again. This group like delilah has its ups and downs which is probably why they aren't heading to that 1st or 2nd place finish. B-

They are the MOST TALENTED group that has ever been on the show. Vocal jazz is incredibly hard to pull off. Afro Blue deserves to win because their arrangements are so complex and so incredible.

that first transition with the scat was pure genius because those two songs are so different. i was grooving my little but off through the whole thing. i did feel like during the second transition it got a little off, like i couldn't quite find the song for a second but holy crap am i impressed with this group.

I disagree with judge Shawn's comment that their transitions were too complicated. Transitions were awesome. Judge Sara said she got lost in the middle. Maybe it's because I'm more familiar with the three songs, but I can't understand how she got lost. They sang the most iconic line of each song before they launched into them. It's like reading the title before you read the book. Incredible performance.

They will always be my favorite group. It's so refreshing to have a group as smooth as them on the Sing-Off! They always choose the challenging songs too. I think out of all the medleys last night, they had the hardest one, and for what its worth I think they did great! Can't wait to see what their Rock and Country songs are :)
@ianjames537

The transitions here were really smooth. The first one was so seamless that it only dawned on me that they had changed songs 5 or 10 seconds into the second song. I'm not much of a jazz fan, but even I can tell that these guys are good at what they do.

Actually they haven't been gettin constant negative comments...."I wanna dance with somebody" was the only song they were really lectured on, and it wasn't much. It wasn't until Rock and Country week were theyy started goin downhill, because of the jugdges of course. I love this medley! I don't like medley's but dang they really made the transistions really smooth and connected.

I like how "into it" they were. Those lady soloists were really ENJOYING that, and it made it all the more fun to watch. =D Side note: I was wondering why Vocal Point used Elvis instead of Michael Jackson (like I assumed they would), and this may be why. The show didn't need two Jackson medleys.

The scatting is sick, and how the heck they managed to incorporate it into a janet jackson song!! Ahhhh! So glad this show got cancelled this season. Not sure I could've watched another kick ass group go home after they should have at least gotten 2nd!

I loved Afro Blue, and I adore Janet forever. Her songs have some of THE best breakdowns I have ever heard, and I don't think Afro Blue utilized them like they could have. This medley was well done, but they could have chosen songs better suited for acapella, like maybe Love Will Never Do, Lonely...the song Alright would have been PERFECT for them! Anyway they were my favorite and I was totally pressed when they had to go home. DC, wassup!

It appears that the critiques from the past weeks are starting to make Afro-Blue second-guess their arrangements, in hopes of finding that sweet spot between "over-our-heads jazzy" and pedestrian. To heck with that, I say...why deviate from what works? Giving the middle song a jazzy feel really worked, and I would've liked it if it was even *jazzier*. I get the feeling the judges really don't know what to do with these guys. Too good to send home, but their album wouldn't have mass appeal...

I believe Shawn was wrong on this one. To me their transitions weren't that complex. They modulated to go into the 2nd song (which was in a higher key) and a drum/dance (with smooth chords) transition to go into "I Miss You Much"... nothing was over-thought here. Ben Folds comments were on point and Sara's "to ambitious" comments didn't make sense. Keep doing your thang Afro Blue! Looking forward to seeing you in the final four!!

Everyone failed 2 impress bcoz medleys r hard. Of all groups, dis 1 hs challenged itself the most dis season. Dey have stretched themselves a lot and sound different each tym. It may seem easier to support others who seem 2 maintain their overal sound & image - dey seem to stay in a comfort zone at times and that makes it boring. You can almost predict that Urban Method will do Hip Hop while Pentatonix sing powerful perfomances only. Yet AB usually surprise me. So Props for da versatility guys.

Stop pointing out the white girl. This group is not racist, if they were, she wouldn't even be in the group. The film editors edited the film that way to show how serious the group was when it comes to rehearsing. Probably Elisa received more strictness in this rehearsal because she was complaining and wasn't pay attention. They all treat each other that way to keep the group focused and on track. Elisa was just captured on camera... that's all. I LOVE AFRO-BLUE!!!!

At times musicians can make something too complicated. Which other musicians can appreciate at times. But they are a Jazz group and jazz music as some of the more complex arrangements, so its not everyone's cup of tea. I thought the scat was over done - myself - but I have never been one for jazz.

Incredibly talented musicians, every single one and as a group truly amazing! But that was not Janet Jackson. Yeah, they shouldn't copy her exactly but the trick is to make it their own AND meet the challenge. The scat was perfection because it led into the song like it was made that way. But some of the other transitions were tangential to the music at best. I also felt there were too many solos. Some more harmonizing and choreography of 3 at a time would give it more of a Janet Jackson feel.

I dunno, this was one of my favorites from them & that scat transition was the best part, also liked the second transition as well, but I could see how it coulda been done a little better; I was young in the 80s, so they captured everything I remember about those songs, never a big Janet fan, but heard em ALL THE TIME & to me these guys blazed a new path down 'Memory Lane'. Any issues I can think of would probably be with the last part, she didn't start off strong. Overall, LOVED this medley..

It was too advanced for basic ears. This performance is for the more musically inclined. If you truly have an ear for hearing harmonies and organizing chords and melodies...you would get how amazing this performance was.

It's because Pentatonix nailed the things they did while AB always fell short. Can I ask did you see the Urban Methods Dancer to the Music performance? That was so great and so NOT what I expected from them but more from AB. I also dislike the fact that AB was in the bottom 2 4 friggin times before they got elminated. Sadly VP really earned their elimination with how they messed up a Temptations song, sheesh had to cover my ears on that one. Ambitious arrangements only get docked if you MISS

To be honest, the only negative comment they got ever on the show was on I wanna Dance with Somebody....and that wasn't erally all bad, they just missed a middle section and their "diction" wasn't great(though I disagree). They kicked right back into gear with Hip-hop week and was one of the first groups to be safe. So they don't really have ups and downs...just ups with one "middle". By the By, that (excuse my wording) white chick cannot sing(I would've said her name but I forgot it).

@TrantisionerMarin I think they edited that to look like the group was being rude to the white girl. Yeah I noticed it and I was like woah they just dissed Elisa twice, but you never know with this pre-taped videos. Sometimes they just manipulate the editing too much.
