These hobby bandsaws are very popular, and are branded from many differnt manufacturers, they are good but have a few shortcomings, here are a few suggestions on how to improve the usability of these great little saws

Thems are some nice mods🙂. The little Jack in the back is very clever😁.

Appreciate your video of your bandsaw modifications.. I find that a steel thin but stiff ruler placed in the top and bottom bearing guides without the blade on really helps getting both guides squared together to the fence and table and other adjustments it really speeds up the process of proper alignment.. also using a dry lubricant on the blade such as a wax stick made for cutting blades helps with blade life as well as clean smooth cuts..even a candle works in a jam..depending on materials being cut some times a little bit of added weight hanging on the grab handle on the front of the head speeds it up a tad bit..not so much to cause a blade jam up but a little does work good..

G'day Ade those mods you made are exactly what I would like to do with mine, I hadn't thought of using Alu to extend the vice jaws and the cutting ledge is a great idea thanks mate regards John

Thanks John, the mods make a big improvement, I have since also made some fine-adjustable blade alignment blocks and fitted wider top bearings, the machine is put to work daily and it is an invaluable tool in the workshop

Thanks for the video Ade. I had already done the mod you have done with the ally handle but will certainly now make the higher holding plates, great idea. The size of that brass stock you must be rich lol

Adjusting the blade guides properly is a royal, time consuming task, but when perfected will make all the difference in the world! Then buy a good quality blade (don’t even consider Harbor Freight!), and you’ll have a star performer, just as you did! Kind of like the Chinese mini lathes, these 4x6 bandsaws are a kit, but with a little TLC, it’s magic!

hello Ade,nice video, thank you for sharing with us,it was very interesting......i did all the same mods you did, with one exception i used a nice sturdy door hinge on the vertical plate that is 10'' x 10'' and attached the hinge to the saw and plate, when not in use just lift plate, without removing it.

I have a bandsaw from Sealey which is mounted on a light tin frame but ot was supplied with an extention table to use in the vertical mode, it is fixed with the 2 screws and also a bracket extending to the saw body where it is fixed by a large headed nut. I did similar improvements to the vice when first got it around 1985, still cutting very nearly vertical !!!!!!!!!!! and as said best to get quality blades.

Hi Ade Where is the tracking adjustment done on that model ? Usually in that rectangular bolt on cut out just to the right of the blade tension knob. Thanks

That looks just like my Taiwan Rong Fu RF-115 from the 1980s the injection molded belt guard is identical. BTW what is the height of your wooden stand?
