That's very cool! Years ago the owner of McConnell Island, a small island between Yellow and Orcas Islands, had a small gauge RR that went around the island. We saw it running a couple of times, but I think it's long gone now.

My great grandfather, Ray Morningstar, was a car carpenter for ATSF at the San Bernardino shops. Sure wish I could ask questions 🙂

Are those 3D printed couplers? I hope they hold up, I wouldn't trust them! They look great though, I hope you're plenty proud. I look forward to watching more of your videos!

would MUCH rather have you talking about how you did the work and what this and that etc as opposed to the dam music.

Getting ready to design and build a bunch of rolling stock for my 7 1/2 gauge railroad. How well have you found the 3D printed detailed parts hold up? I was considering printing a bunch of detail parts but am concerned they wont last long.

Do you have a video of how you made the frame? I want to do one of those! And I'd be willing to buy the stl files for the detail parts. I think you've done a great job!

Cannonball trains. About 14 years ago. Don't know if they still sell them.

Would you take orders for the lettering, numbering etc: since you have, I guess, a CNC machine, but anyhow orders for making stencils for other 7.5" RRs.

Great work. Are those 3d files that you've drawn or in the public domain?
@TheWeevilGenius
@TheWeevilGenius 3 года назад
Thanks for the question. All the 3D files are of my own design. I've had some interest in the files here so I'm currently weighing options that would allow people to have access to them. As I have a lot of hours invested in creating them, I'm not quite willing to give them away for free. Patreon might be an option. Or perhaps a website where the files can be purchased for a nominal fee. I'm open to ideas.

What was a common diameter of the tie rods?
@TheWeevilGenius
@TheWeevilGenius 2 года назад
I used 5/32 steel rod from Speedy metals. Ends were threaded 8-32. 12L14 was used to make threading easier

What wood did you use for this
@TheWeevilGenius
@TheWeevilGenius 3 года назад
Trestle and ties are cedar. Mostly from reclaimed decking. If I had to do it again I would use Accu-tie rail system plastic ties. They will last forever and are probably now less expensive than cedar.

With or with out the tractor!? LOL. Honestly, I don't know exactly. A couple grand about.
