Hi there, the loco looks excellent. I am planning building something similar in the future. What transmission did you use?

Hi the gearbox I used was from a garden tractor. It is a peerless 700 gearbox that I used. There are not many mechanical drive ones out there most people fit a eaton 7 hydrostatic gearbox or electric motors like a scamp locomotive. These have the advance of running the same speed in both directions as the gearbox has 1 reverse gear.

This video might be of interest if your looking for more clips of the locomotive to study. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PT8ghEVCR-k.htmlsi=qvj1x86RDsKFATVV

Lovely loco, could you advise what size sprockets and pulley you have used as I have most of the components to build something similar.

Hi the pulleys are both 6 inch and the taper lock sprockets on the gearbox was a 17 tooth and the one on the drive axle was a 30 tooth. Most of the sprockets and chains came from Simply Bearings

The frame is based on the Colin Edmondson Stumpy which is a kit there is plans for it out there. I did my frame to 1450mm long and 600mm wide. The axle spacing was 450mm between them.

@@user-mq6jc3ke5d hi I used 50x100 channel. All the metal for the frame came out of a skip for its all odd bits and pieces that make it. If your on facebook drop me a message at Muddy Lake Engineering facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550251075146 I can send you over some plans of your interested.
