You catch your fiddlers? Or can you get them from a bait shop?

I catch them mostly, but sometimes I buy them when I don't have time to catch them.

Hi, I was wondering if I can tag alone next time you go fishing? I got the ap120 also. Usually I fish down brigantine.

@Itsme-ChuBen So, this has been a very common request, and I just can't. Think I have been asked like 10x since the start of the season, including some other youtubers. My focus right now is my youtube channel, and I can't plan anything, meaning that I'm always changing my mind on locations and times. Maybe in the future this will change but for right now I need to focus solely on my channel. Sorry bud, willing to answer any ?'s you have aside from specific locations.

What do you use as leader fluorocarbon or mono? and what brand and pound test? i use 20 pound segar blue label and i broke off 2 times on big fish at the jetties.thank you in advance

@derrickyoumans3095 Hey, thanks for the question. So I use 25 lb mono. Sheep are not line shy, and floro is too expensive to be using on fish that are not line shy. Unfortunately, break offs happen when you fish structure. I get pretty upset when I lose a fish but you just gotta brush it off. I have lost two big fish recently cause I grabbed the spool to try to keep em from running into the structure, and I broke off anyways. Sometimes, there is no way to win, just gotta keep playing the game.

How far down in south jersey are you? Can sheepshead be caught from shore?

Cape May and Atlantic Counties, and to be honest, I think anything is possible, but the easiest way is fishing vertically, which is tough enough to pull off. I swing and miss alot, but at least I know exactly what to swing at now. The bite is unlike anything most people have ever experienced. I look back at all the times I was toggin' from a bridge or a pier, not getting a bite, just to find out the bait was gone. Always thought it got washed off the hook by the current, but now think that there were sheepshead around. Best shot from land would definately include sod banks, jetties, bridges, and piers. The thing I see the most in their stomachs when I fillet them is small mussels. So, if you know of any, fish near a mussel bed. I'm still learning stuff, and the fishery is evolving too. I have been experiencing a savage bottom bite, which never happened to me previously. They are definately easier to catch than last year, at least I think...

@@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis Awesome! I never knew you could catch sheepshead up here. Do you think green crabs or sand fleas would work? I have no clue where to catch fiddlers but I do have a spot for asian crabs. From watching your videos makes wanna try to target these guys. Easier on a yak but whatever I'll look around and see what I come up with. How heavy of a jig are you fishing with? Thanks!
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis Месяц назад
@thebarcadas7850 So, I don't know about green crab, but definately Asians, mud, fiddler crabs work. Asians are good because I regularly see them climbing up the pilings coming up out of the water, so dropping your jig right against the piling mimics that. Sand fleas I used all last year with plenty of success. This year I started out with them, but when I was only catching on fiddlers, I stopped using sand fleas. They probably are just as good now, but early in the season I found the sheep to be finicky. Fiddlers are closer to home for me so more convenient. If it's not broke I'm not trying to fix. 😉

@@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis thanks, how deep do you look for at these spots?
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis Месяц назад
@beefox406 I really don't think or worry about depths. I have caught sheep in anywhere from 8 ft all the way upto around 30 ft. I basically pick a bridge and play musical pilings. They are always somewhere different. A piling on fire yesterday, might produce nothing today. They could be on the next piling, or all the way on the other side of the bridge. Ya just never know, but that's the thrill of the hunt!

hi. can you share location? 😊
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis
@SouthJerseyYakFishing-wn7bmis Месяц назад
@huli332 No, sorry, I don't spot burn. I don't want to be hated by the respected Fishing community. I have heard stories of youtubers finding pictures of their faces taped to urinals in marinas with captions like "Aim here". Don't want to be that guy. RU-vidrs who burn areas end up getting hated. Not the purpose of my channel. I can tell you you can do this with success at any bridge, there's always fish in the slack water. Rely on technique and strategy, not spots, you will way better off as a result. I have become a decent angler in a short period of time by gaining insight into the "hows", and "why's" rather than the "where's". If that makes sense. Once that happens, you can look at the contour maps and find fish according to the 90/10 rule anywhere you go. Bridges, jetties, and fishing piers are your best bet.

@beefox406 It's the truth too, you know what they say, "give a man a fish..." I will eventually get into doing how to videos, but for now my plate is full. Thanks for the positive feedback, I appreciate it! 😊
