Victor Wembanyama is a 7'4 18 year old basketball player from France. He's considered one of the top (and tallest) basketball prospects in the world. He made his debut on US Soil with his team Metropolitans 92 from Paris playing in Henderson, NV against NBA G League Ignite. This created an anticipated matchup of a potential future 2023 Number One NBA Draft Pick vs Future 2023 Number two Draft Pick in Ignite's Scoot Henderson (also age 18).
NBA Vets including Boogie Cousins, Trevor Ariza Phoenix Suns Chris Paul, Devin Booker, Duane Washington Jr and WNBA Champs A'ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray were in the gym, Dollar Loans Arena near Las Vegas.
Victor dazzled as he finished with 37 points (7 3-pointers), 5 Blocks! Scoot Henderson led Ignite with 29 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists in the SCORE victory!

Victors weakness is defense but his eight makes up for some of his faults. The good news is he’s young and can be taught defense. Once he gets as serious about his defensive game as he is about his offensive game he’s gonna be a huge problem. Young guys usually lean defense as they get older. He is gonna be a problem barring injury

Not gonna lie, I’ve followed this dude for a bit now and I’m glad he’s finally getting exposure. The dude has so much potential. Imagine a coordinated, agile 7’4 guy who handles the ball like a guard and can shoot consistently. This is what the future of NBA centers look like. Defensively, I see him getting bullied in the league on the block but he’s also going to wear down a lot of those centers when they have to play defense on him.

I watch this guy and only when he is standing directly beside another player do I fully understand how tall he is. When I see him just him running the floor he looks like he’s a skinny 6’8” because of how fluid he is. He doesn’t lumber down the floor like every other 7’5” player that I’ve ever seen.

I'll give you elite shot blocking but the rest of his defense looked rather unimpressive. He doesn't anticipate positions well and is late to rotate (sometimes that doesn't hurt him because his recover is insane though) he still can get bodied and scored on in the pant if you put your body on him. Scoot did it several times. Having said that, I'm not ragging on him he had unreal potential just not well rounded defensively yet. Offensively he looked incredible though no doubt about it.

@j gray are you out of your mind? Did we watch the same video? He's slow as fuck latterly. He ABSOLUTELY has the tools and the potential and maybe he will be that good defensively some day. He's already that good offensively. He was getting lots of blocks but he was also getting torched off the dribble and when he gets beat and bodied he doesn't recover well, he gets scored on. His rotations were slow and his help defense wasn't good either. He was the best player on the court and he was okay generally speaking on defense and he had a bunch of blocks but you didn't watch the same video as I did if you think his defense was elite that game.
