It's crazy how Yao still managed to make the HOF with all the injuries he had. China worked him to death and never let him rested during the off season.
@@mr.towler4780 Bradley's first NBA game with Philadelphia 76ers was not productive-scoring wise but his shotblocking ability was eye-catching with 8 blocks
@Thundercock He wasn't just a 7 footer though. He was 7'6". That's like saying someone was a mediocre 6 footer when talking about a player 6'6". When you get over 7 feet it's even more of a factor. How many players over 7'5" have had longevity in the league? Many big men 6'10 or 6'11" have, and only a few "7 footers" have. But what about players that are over 7'5"? I'll end this with saying you're dumb.
Yao really had the right vets around him. That’s what the nba is missing. You can see his teammates coaching him and pushing him to play to his potential the whole game. Each one teach one 💯
Yao Ming's ability, at 7'6", to catch those quick passes from guards, was really impressive. When he got the position down low, there aint much you can do.
@@dr.strange-backtofuture3991Victor has the posture, but lack the mass. I mean that could be a good thing to maintain his agility, but he's different from Yao as Yao mass looks proportional to his height compared to Victor skinny frame.
Yao had a grrrrrreat career. He played 9 years in the NBA. He was an 8 time NBA All-Star. And he's in the NBA HoF‼️ He retired at 31 yrs. old. But, the avg. NBA career is just shy of 5 years. Throughout NBA history, there have been more than 4,400 players, and the average career length is around 4.5 years. This is not surprising considering that basketball is a dynamic, fast-paced, very physical sport, so it is not common to see players over the age of 35 in the league, let alone 40.
Yao Ming is such a nice person that he makes Dirk look like a villain, if he was a little bit more a badass, he would have been more dominate then Shaq
They played a back to back Shawn got the best of Yao in the first game but Steve gave Yao a crazy pep talk as soon as the game was over and this was the result😂
We can only compare through their height beyond that, every skill of the game goes to Yao Ming, unfortunately we can't get to see Yao play on the NBA for more than 15 years.
Yao Ming was born in the year of the Metal Monkey. This makes him agile as a big man. Mark Eaton (7'4) and Larry Bird are Fire Monkeys. They were agile on defense and offense respectively. Victor Wendemyama is a Water Sheep on the cusp of Wood Monkey. Moses Malone was a Wood Sheep.
Yao was school Shaq in his prime, and Shaq couldnt do nothing. Yao's prime was unfortunately cut short bc of injuries, if not for that we would have dominated for another decade.
I remember this game..This when Dirk had to play both positions switch back n forth PF to C cause of Bradley foul trouble and Dampier being injured. This when Dirk became Dirk! 💯🏀
Yao's career could've been longer if he stayed at that size and play more technically like Nowitzki, instead of playing heavy physical contact every game plus summer in the low paint
Shawn Bradley ist just a very tall guy, who try to play basketball. The life of Yao Ming is all desgined to play basketball, even his parents were choosen for this purpose...
he needed the weight to compete with prime shaq. their first few games, he may have blocked shaq a few times, but he still couldn't stop shaq. shaq still got 70 points in 2 games over him. after he gained weight, they were competing quite evenly.
@@samquan8120 no Yao isn't. When he was drafted into the NBA he was listed at 7 feet 5. The NBA added an inch. If you look at him.and Shawn standing back to back. Shawn is taller. Shawn isn't 7 feet 7. Manute Bol is listed at that height. Even Shawn commented that Yao isn't 7 feet 6.
@@st4r444 I read in some places he was 7'6" 3/4 to be exact but who knows. There's pictures of Gheorghe next to 7'9" Chinese Giant and you wouldn't really tell who's taller till you see the pic of them side by side and Gheorghe is only an inch shorter. I think the Chinese guy is really 7'8" 1/2.
i was so sad he was injured. man was an inspiration to eveyrone in the way he carreid himself- his humilty and his game the man shoud have dominated the late 10's with tmac. the whole history of basketball would have been different. in that era just after the shaq /kobe era- and the tim Duncan era- but before the superteam era of Boston , Miami, Golden state- the league was going to be his- im talking 09-12. he and mac would have gotten at least one- i think TWO.
While those are impressive numbers of Yao, losing, especially losing by a good margin like that, greatly diminishes the performance in my mind. While I like Yao very much, schooling Shawn Bradley is not a great accomplishment. I will say that I was skeptical when Yao was first drafted since his most challenging experience was the CBA. I expected he would be another Shawn Bradley. I was pleasantly surprised that he turned out to be pretty good. It is too bad that he didn't stay healthy.
