Kind of amazing that a cartridge introduced in the 40s is still going head to head with the most modern cartridges.

Not sure how much it matters but don’t forget that 300blk uses pistol powder so you get a complete powder burn out of a much shorter barrel than 7.62x39. For me that means I can run a shorter barrel, a more compact (lighter) firearm and still have solid performance.

The steel cased sp ammo is quite effective, and much cheaper than hornady, I used a 125gr barnaul sp to take a deer this year, had great performance, it did shed the jacket but the core penetrated from the front chest to the back of the ribcage and retained 80gr of weight, it may have not shed the jacket if it hadn't struck the bottom of the spine on the way in, overall I was very impressed and the deer was dead on the spot.

Do videos like this but with direct comparisons between the two rounds. It doesn’t even have to be ballistic gel just put a piece of ham or pork loin, also do drywall testing. Do different calibers (9mm, 5.56, 7.62) using different popular barrel lengths to see the differences in effectiveness of the rounds versus meat. It’ll help us make decisions like, I want a short AR, but 5.56 out of a 7.5 in barrel is basically just a flash bang with garbage terminal ballistics. 11.5 is viable for 5.56, but too long. Maybe I should go with a 9mm JHP if I need a really short AR. And with the testing we’d see the 9mm JHP outperform the 5.56 out of a 7.5in barrel.

Sir, to add on the description of the .300 ACC; the reason why the cartridge is smaller than the .556, is because it (.300 ACC) uses pistols powder instead of rifle powder. Very ingenious if you ask me.

You left some important facts out. The 7.62x39 is a tapered case and that is why longer magazines must be curved. It also has a larger case diameter. Most important is that the AR-15 bolt is marginal relative to durability when firing the 7.62x39. It really needs a bolt more like that of the AR-10 like what CMMG uses for their 7.62x39. But my BCA upper a few years ago was under $200 and so it is cheaper just to keep a spare bolt and extractor. I have a store of X39 ammo and so it pays to have an AR upper to fire it. My BCA upper is way overgassed and so it was necessary to change out the buffer wts to H3. That changed the ejection pattern from like 2 o'clock to 4-5 o'clock and all magazine types would work. This should also increase the longevity of the extractors. Most x39 ammo is not intended for hunting. More load variety in 300 blackout relative to projectile types needed for hunting.

I use the 7.62x39 we could use some after market support for magazines but as far as the 7.62x39 I've always used the enhanced firing pin never had any issue other than crap mags not feeding. Also the case size on the 300BO is too small and can't get the powder to reach proper pressures this means even 125 grain will never reach a velocity above 2500fps you'll be lucky to hit 2400fps consistently the 7.62x39 has a wider case and can fit more powder in the case. Plus it's way damn cheaper!
@randomidiot8142
@randomidiot8142 2 года назад
The powder can definitely make pressure in a blackout. 65kpsi and higher is not a problem. The problem is a lack of gas VOLUME that limits max velocity. You've got half the powder capacity of a 308 and you're well over half the velocity, stop complaining. The 7.62*39 in the standard AR is handicapped by a lower safe max operating pressure but uses a fairly similar powder charge as a BO.

According to what i have read and it makes sense, the 300 blackout bolt is more durable in design than is the 7.62x39 bolt when fitted into a standard AR15 bolt carrier. Particularly the extractor in the BCA bolt various people have claimed that it breaks prematurely. I have order a replacement bolt with modified extractor from Young and will see how well it works. But it now seems that 300 blackout chambered AR15 are more reliable for SD. The x39 has had more metal remove from the bolt head and also from the extracter to allow the larger case head of the 7.62x39 to properly fit the bolt recess and extractor claw.

Since the .300 BO is made off of the .556, and uses all the same BCG, it can be chambered into a .556 chamber, since the case has been cut back. This can ruin your day, because that projectile won't fit down that barrel. So, you have created a bomb that is inches from your face. It would be very easy to pick up the wrong magazine, or get a .300 BO cartridge mixed in with .556's. If you are shooting both calibers, make certain that those don't get mixed. Accidents can happen, so for safety I'd opt for the 7.62x39. You can't get those mixed up with .556.

The 2 cartridges perform pretty close to each other. Where one edges one out in some areas, the other performs better in other areas. The big advantage to .300 AAC is its compatability with the AR Platform. It also comes in a wider choice of projectile weights and types. Its biggest disadvantage is cost of ammunition, as .300 AAC typically 2-21/2 times more expensive that 7.62 x 39. Personally, I prefer .300 AAC, and the reason why is I have a couple of buddies that have the Soviet Uppers and magazines to use on their lowers. Both have feed/ejection issues occasionally, just enough to cause me to hesitate to go that route. It might be their ammo, it might be their uppers, it might be their magazines. I don't know, and it doesn't happen everytime we go shooting, but on occassion one or the other will have some issues. I lean more towards the ammo being the culprit as both buy the cheapest steel cased surplus they can find. I would also point out, if you compare the price of "reloadable brass cased, boxer primed" 7.62 X 39 to .300 BO, that price difference narrows considerably and to get JSPs or OTMs the percentage narrows considerably to where .300 BO is only 10-30 % more, depending upon manufacturer. I don't use steel cased ammo because I reload, and like working up perfect loads to achieve consistent accuracy, performance and reliability for every gun I own and load for.

I can't in knock either round. I've had good luck with my 7 BCA barrels.. All except one in 223 Wylde.The crown had a "V" in it like it was dropped on something.I couldn't figure out why it shot so bad until I removed the Flash Hider. I was about to return it.But when I put on a SilencerCo ASR and Suppressor it shoots lights out.

I just got a .223 wylde complete upper from you guys and I'm not really allowed to hunt with an AR in this state so that's probably all I'll ever need. But maybe getting a 300 barrel for suppression shooting at a later date could be fun, idk. Will let you know how it performs when I can afford a range trip. (Spent more than I should have to get everything else I needed, but still barely over 400 for the full gun, iron sights, 3 mags, and a laser bore for later).

@3%'er red-blooded patriot used to be Michigan (where I lived until the tail end of 2019) allowed ar hunting for deer (the one thing the last household I was in hunted religiously because we had crop damage permits from a local dairy farmer), but they apparently changed it not long after I left for ohio... I know because I asked the dude I used to live with about it and he had sold off his AR, because of that. That gun was the first thing I got a kill with (I hunted once before that but the scope on the gun I was using was apparently busted so I couldn't hit shit). Didn't get to do a lot of hunting myself overall, but I helped skin and quarter, and sometimes aided in some of the other processing for our nearly year round wild deer farming. We also gave a ton of our meat away to locals for different reasons. The guy just really loved to hunt, and it was one of few things he could do after a major work injury took him out of the work force for the rest of his life.

c products 7.62x39 mags work best for this application. in the AR 15 platform. If you're going to use steel case ammo get the enhanced firing pin in all AR 15 platforms. a stronger hammer spring is also a good idea. this will aid in light primer strikes. This is from experience. I have 6 AR 15s and all shoot brass and steel case ammo. All are BCA uppers.

Is there any real difference between running both of these suppressed? Is it bad for suppressor to run cheap ammo?
@randomidiot8142
@randomidiot8142 2 года назад
Other than having basically no options for good subsonic 7.62x39 ammo and very few guns built to run supers and nonexistent subs, no difference. Just use a good can and you'll have no issues other than supersonic bullet crack noise. People run suppressors on big magnums and .308's all the time, doing it on a little x39 with cheap supersonic ammo is no problem.

I will add one strong reason to go 7.62x39, the mags ARE different. If you should forget that your mag has .300 blackout in it and you put it in your 5.56 rifle, it will fire and destroy your rifle as you try and squeeze a .300 caliber projectile down a .22 barrel. There are videos out there showing this exact scenario playing out. Just my $0.02 worth. YMMV.
