“Sneaker heads”have gotten pretty bad. Every single collection has the same shit. It’s like a checklist now if you wanna be a “sneaker head” now a days. That’s why I consider myself a sneaker enthusiast. 😂
@@therealding221 it's like we are all in the same club, here to celebrate sneakers and our enjoyment of the culture. But you wanna be considered an enthusiast. You at the club but created your own section. Like a vip section or having your own "table" and the ropes around your table reserving it just for other enthusiasts who have your level of taste and expertise are allowed. Sounds gate keepy. I intentionally didn't say you were gate keeping but it's getting close there.
@@superdoge3436 my analogy for this is many people haven't had enough exposure or experience to know what else they like so they just buy what's safe. It's like when people first get into anime and just watch shonen or when a person starts to game and just plays fortnight and call of duty or something. They are still part of the culture. Give them time to grow and in no time they will be collecting some obscure Reebok Collab, watching niche drama anime and playing retro SNES games on emulators in no time
I had a Japanophile friend who hated pocari sweat that "came from korea" because he can taste the difference. This is also the friend who found out from dna tests hes korean too and hates it.
This reminds me of a half-japanese guy I knew who was a massive koreaboo. He doesn't hate Japan though, I think the only thing he genuinely liked that was Japanese is the food (though he's Muslim so I guess he doesn't like all of the food), everything else he seemed indifferent to.
Honestly I see fashion as a healthy form of self-expression and the LAST thing I wanna do is gatekeep anyone from expressing themselves. I’d rather put people on to new things and learn and collaborate with others 🤷🏾♂️. Exactly why I made my channel
Dressing your age should be "Dress like you, at your age." I turn 40 in May, and every Dress Your Age channel has the same Oxfords, the same shirts, the same hair. Bland, uniform bleh. Not all streetwear looks like a billboard, not every sneaker needs to be Yeezy, or Sockshoes. Just look harder.
I mean shit, I'm 35 years old but I don't feel the need to wear boring shit like that. I got my influences I draw from for my own personal fashion, and it might be a better place if more people just adopted that mentality of "I like this shit, so I'm gonna keep wearing it."
Where I live there is always a bunch of rich kids from China, draped in brand name clothing from head to toe, regardless if the pieces actually match or works together. Its quite cringe.
Iol at ichigo being on the front since Kubo wanted to be a fashion designer, its why all of his characters books are more fashion heavy than showing off powers or environments. i still think he should.
My favorite is the Rick Owens enthusiasts who say that if a person wears one piece of Rick, they must only wear Rick. Like, we get it dudes - you have no imagination and are only comfortable following an already-established template.
In my opinion fashion is just self expression. I don't take it personally if someone doesn't like my fashion or says my outfit is last season. Handle all these personalities the same way, by just being me regardless and I'll let them be
there's this fashion personality type these days that basically revolves around sneakers and plants aesthetics. they usually mix brands like jjjjound, Aime Leon, New Balance, Expensive Jordans, some carhartt, + tons of plants, and repeat. at first, I thought they're just random people with a clean aesthetic, but now I realized they're a cult where everyone does exactly the same, dresses up exactly the same, they won't move an inch off this brand's circle and style. and they keep posting the same fit pics with these brands, jordans and plants over and over, as if they have no personality whatsoever. do you know what I'm talking about?
Haha yes. The Hidden.ny aesthetic about sums it up. Could call it the “NYC vegan aesthetic” too lol. I definitely have aspects of the style in my own in regards to its minimalism, neutral subdued tones, etc, but there’s a wave that’s taken it to an extreme and it’s become a uniform and identity for sure.
@@llolas3485 yeah, totally. I was a h.ny fan for a year or so, but then I took that extra step and checked out some of his people's pages and their feed was exactly the same. as if 1 person opened 100 ig accounts to post the same fit pics.. it was so weird... I still don't know if this cult is gonna last or maybe get bigger.. what do you think?
@@mcsc730 lmao i think it busts when too many pages post that same kanye shit... it was a cool movement so far but it feels like they're gonna kill it too fast.. over-saturation
@@avivhn2 i think it’s already dead. How many dunk n NB shoes can they really post on their feed? It’s dead. It’s just the cult following can’t let it go because they’ve built their personalities around that.
Reggie can you consider doing a video about the ecological impacts of today’s fashion industry? Like maybe about how fast fashion is driving overconsumption of clothes. Or how luxury brands burn clothes to maintain exclusivity? And possibly some solutions? I feel like you’d have some interesting points to make.
It’s like making scrambled eggs you crack an egg in a bowl scramble it put some ground pepper maybe some cilantro some fresh crushed red peppers put it all in a frying pan- I forget what my analogy was but now Ima eat some eggs now
I totally get the annoyance for the Loyal Hypebeasts or as we call them in gaming circles... console fanboys. Yeah, I don't get why people simp for major brands the way they do; they don't care about you as a person, they only want your money. You get their clothing, they take your money... end of transaction.
I'm not a gate keeper and I don't feel right defending them lol, but the only reason to do it is if the market is larger then the products availability, they try to keep the consumer competition low...
I think it’s really cool that so many styles are so popular with different people. My little brother loves Japanese fashion and has made it his own. I personally fall under the Jerry boys in terms of style but I ain’t going out of my way to be a loyalist. Checks ✅ over stripes tho everyday of the week!
As a semi-purist I still am down to talk with everyone and will accept their viewpoints. I’m just tired of everyone wearing streetwear and saying that they really know fashion.
Really, you can draw parallels with many forms of artistic expression from this video; music, movies, video games, cartoons, anime, comic books, you name it.
Fashion is a beautiful art; however, it doesn't give someone the right to treat people like crap because they cannot afford or don't choose to wear the brands that others wear....
I used to be a normal dude from UK 🇬🇧 . But then I played Ghost of Tsushima , now I'm a certified Japanophile 😎 . I love everything Japan 🇯🇵 . I've started my bape collection and it's growing fast . Soon I will be a full fledged samurai.
New sub here. I actually wanted to hate on you badly, because I disagreed with a few things you said on a past live stream.. BUT! Upon further review of your videos, your actually extremely fucking dope. I know shit. My bad 😂 much ❤️nyc bx
The most important thing is to remember we can disagree and still be cool. The best among us are steadfast in our positions but flexible enough to change them when presented with new info. Thanks for giving me the chance. ~Reggie
i dont think those are loyal hypebeasts id name them insecure hypebeasts loyal hypebeasts to me would be more people who love a brand to a cult following but have enough respect to not disrespect others or force their opinions on others
i think someone like alpha m., or realmenrealstyle is necessary to set a footing in fashion for those whos moms are still picking out their clothes. at least they explain basic fashion rules, so those people can start discovering their style later
Sneaker reseller haters. Baffling to me that you can not hate the companies that tell you that you have to wake up early on a certain day and hope you get lucky at giving them some of your money but instead place your ire at the person capitalizing on said "problem". And in this economy?!
Another worst fashion type is "The Bogan". Predominantly located in Australia and New Zealand, these Bogans typically dress in black singlets and shorts, drive v6 powered vehicles, wear Dragon sunglasses and DC shoes, wear thin chains around their neck and wear stuff like RPM hoodies and Dickies everything. Basically anything from early to mid 2000s is considered "fashion' to them
Specifically was told your the most annoying and to not engage with you thanks to this video I know who to avoid off of one's character by how they dress
People need to discover themselves, if they have to follow an arktype for a bit to find what they like and don't like im cool with it. However people who stay like that forever need to stop.
