''Lately'' I really feel they've just been _continunously_ been uping their game in the past decade really ahahahaha! Constantly and consistently being improved, and eternally affordable and accessible!
You can prevent noise reduction from completely destroying your image by using the qualifier tool on the same node to only select certain portions that you want cleaned up. For example, if it's only the shadows and blacks that are noisy, open the qualifier, shut off hue and saturation, and reduce the luminosity to only select the shadows. Your mids and highlights will stay sharp and the lows will be clean!
I've found that applying noise reduction to specific color channels ( RGB ) gives me the cleanest noise reduction. For example, applying noise reduction to the blue channel ONLY can really clean up that noise while not affecting the red or blue channel at all. I think the shortcut key to split all the channels separately into nodes on PC is Alt+Y. I always add another node after and add the smallest amount of sharpening.
I did it a few years ago and never looked back. Besides the features, it runs MUCH smoother and almost never crashes... While for premiere it was crashing often.
I came here by way of curiosity while repairing a friends pc (seeing this app on his machine) and after seeing this demo,it makes me want to edit images with DaVinci. This look amazing!!!!
Bro that dialogue seperator was so clean. I think we had to use iZotope before which I took the FLAC file and dropped into Vegas edit. I am doing so much research on DaVinci right now
I hae a tecnical question. Do you know any real solution for "horizon lock"? I keep waiting for a update that will make this possible. When i shoot handheld, my horizon keeps rotating clockwise and anti clockwise throughout the clip? Is there a way to keep horizon locked in place without me going to manualy keyframe every second of rotation angle? Thank you!
I'm probably halfway through a big project on DR18. I could def use some of those tools on DR19. Would it be worth upgrading mid project to a beta version?
just wanted to ask a question regarding DaVInci Resolve 19 update: I have a new video and ive rendered it BUT when I try and play it it says its not compatible with Quicktime (Working on a Mac) and rendered in MP4. is there a quick fix or is 19 bugged?
No, once you buy, you get all the future updates for free! But version 19 is still in beta so it doesn't update automatically. You have to go to their website and download and install it manually. But since it's still beta, if you have a lot of active projects, I would just wait until the official release with an automatic update. 🫡🔥
Hi Joris, I'm on Resolve 19, the voice isolation toggle you show at 4:08 doesn't show for me, just skips from Pan to the Dialogue leveler, is there something I need to do to make it show up?
Is there a way to backdate Davinci Resolve to an older version ? We were prompted to update to 19. Then everything stopped working. Davinci Resolve will no longer load up. How to backdate to older version ? We tried to reinstall an older version EXE, but when computer rebooted, 19 still came up and would not load at all, GPU Configuration Warning DaVinci Resolve is using OpenCL for image processing because the installed NVIDIA driver does not support CUDA 12.3. Upgrade your NVIDIA driver for optimal performance. Alternatively you can manually select OpenCL processing mode to run in the current configuration. (quit) (Update Configuration) Both options (quit) + (Update Configuration) do nothing. One closes the application, other takes you to a window where you can click (save) but nothing still works & nothing opens, it just closes and you have ZERO davinci Resolve. Unable to access the projects we had before that we were working on in the previous versions because the 19 version crash the entire Davinci Resolve to now a dead program that no longer works. Does anyone know how to fix this problem ?
It's still a beta version. You have to go to the website and download and install it manually but if you have any active projects, I would wait to install it...
Imagine a scene where an object makes sound moving one side to another, that tracking sound feature is great for something like that so you don`t have to animate the whole sequence!
You did not lost the train with updates on davinci 19. why? because you have a different style of tutorials. more explicative, your voice is pefrect for tutorials: is calm, talking like a teacher not like a DJ on radio. Many guys who make tutorials on YT, are shouting! they watched too many entertainment videos and they suppose that is the formula! Is not. For tutorials you need a calm voice. keep it that way. your videos are great in that style!
Version 19 is full of bugs don't believe the hype. One problem is exported files are losing their chapter markers during the rendering process. The beginning of the video timeline starts at 1 hour when it obviously should start at 00:00:00: , quite ridiculous really.
Only a couple of things are keeping me from switching to DR, 1. No auto removal of filler words, 2. Additional tweaking of Auto Reframing, 3. Integration with PSD files with layer support.
Joris, Because of your video about Filmconvert Nitrate, I bought this software a few weeks before the release of Resolve 19. Do you know if there is much difference? I personally feel that the quality of Filmconvert Nitrate is much better. Another is the load on the computer. I haven't tested this yet. Maybe a nice idea is to make a video about Filmconvert Nitrate vs DaVinci's Resolve 19 (film look creator). As a company, the price of €116 for Filmconvert Nitrate incl Halation was reasonable.
Version 19 and Davinci still doesn't support HDR on Windows (without buying special device), horrible software. (and no it's not Window's fault, as Premiere handles HDR no problem)
Sir I am new camar in davinci resolve and I have not to much practice in fusion and effect, should I directly go to 19 version of davinci resolved currently I am using 18.5 version
I'm working on a project on Davinci 18 and when I check for updates it says its up to date, to get 19 do I have to download it from scratch then right? is it possible to then import my project on 18 to 19?
It's still a beta version so yeah you have to download and install it manually from their website BUT if you have active projects I would wait or make sure you back them up properly.
Answer to your first question: Because they shoot those videos days before, DVR gives them the software before they put up on their website. That's why they release the videos ( they are only allowed to do so) after DVR puts the software up on the website to download.
Really like your videos Joris. Thank you for that concise breakdown. This is one of the most impressive updates for DR. That software keeps on giving incredible features, and without any monthly fees. Actually, THAT is the most incredible :)
You might be “late” but no rush is always better to get well explained. And I found no contest in other videos. Thank you and looking forward for those in depth videos🎈
