yeah, another difference is that in the book, Kate was socialising with Penelope quite a bit and it was so cute because they bonded over "not being the most wanted girls". Unfortunately, this connection is not developed in the show and a part of a cute conversation between them about Penelope's dress was borrowed for the interaction between Penelope and Edwina.
Anthony saved Penelope's night by dancing with her. Kate sees that and that's when she realizes the rake is probably not as bad as Lady Whistledown's description. Later in her book, Penelope reminisces that scene and that Kate told her "that was the time he made me fell for him". Well, I guess we won't see this reference in the next season.
Probably because Kate is considered as being basic looking in the books just as Pen is. Kinda hard to recreate the wallflower thing when casting someone as stunning as Simone Ashley. No one would believe that storyline
I love when Anthony called Kate by her full name Kathani on the last episode 😍 that gave me goosebumps because I didn’t expect her to have a authentic sounding Hindi name.
Is that what it was? Lol. As a hindi language speaker I thought he combined their names i.e., Kate+Anthony hence Kathony because I've never heard this name before.
@@fabtins1993 supposedly . My subtitles spelled her name like that but there was no background to him learning her full name. He just revealed it in that last scene
I think Kathani is like the "bastardised" version of Kaithyayini, which is a pretty traditional Marathi name. Considering Edwina calls Kate "didi" at times and Kate even says "ah baapre", the sisters might as well be Marathi...
Daphne/Simon being forced to marry creates tension because Simon doesn’t WANT to marry her. “Forcing” Kate and Anthony to marry would have absolutely killed all tension because they desperately want each other (plus, not gonna lie, “sucking the venom out on a wound that just so happens to be on her bosom” is just a little bit too contrived to be enjoyable). I know a lot of people hated that the reworked Kanthony love story kiiiind of turned them into villains for screwing over Edwina, but I actually enjoyed it for how realistic it was. Not all characters can be perfect. I enjoyed a love story we rooted for despite its flaws, despite also loving Edwina.
I did not see them as "the villians" , but it annoyed me that nearly Nobody realized what was really going on Of course the Edwina Plot bulit Up tension but i would have liked it better if Anthony came to His senses when they left Aubrey Hall and proposed to Kate.
saaammme!!! like in season 1 there were lots like lots of scenes of Daphne and the Duke after getting married, i hope we could see a glimpse of their married life and Kate as the Viscountess and being called Lady Bridgerton. Hopefully for s3,
For me, I liked that they didnt follow the book where they were forced of getting married ( just because of the bee sting) If it happened like that -them getting married just because they are forced and obliged - is not romantic at all and it will just be like how Daphne and the Duke got married (being forced) in season 1, in fact i liked the slow burn romance in this season. The longingness in their eyes and stealing glances , the wanting to touch each other yet couldnt, and we were able to see how their characters and relationship developed before their intimate scenes. You could really feel the love and not just lust and make us crave for more.
Loved this season more than I loved the second book. However they should have explored Kate's fear of storms more as in the book I feel that since both Anthony and Kate went trough similar traumas and both had PTSD that brought them so much closer together and showed a real connection between them
When I read the book, I imagined that the series would show mysterious sequences like puzzle pieces about Kate's childhood and her trauma, that would be revealed to the audience when Kate admitted her deepest fear to Anthony. I imagined the flashback scene would be horror.
So true. They have eight episodes of one hour long and they don't dive into Kate's trauma? I felt a little bit disappointed. I'm not saying that they should have replicated literally the library scene (though I know fans were demanding it); but I think it would have suited Kate's character to show some of her weaknesses. It could also have helped to explain her obsession with settling her sister. She behaves with Edwina as a second mother because, as an orphan, she grew up too early. And she loves her so dearly because she does not have an extended family. And family or the lack of it is a recurring topic in most Bridgerton books. Many of the Bridgerton siblings end up marrying men or women without family or with very reduced or wicked ones. They welcome them into their lively, big and caring Bridgerton family. And I think that's beautiful.
Also one thing I liked about the book was kate realises that Anthony is a much greater man with that of honor, compassion and devotion for family as opposed to him being the falty rake she considered him to be and unwillingly but wholeheartedly decides Anthony would be a good husband to edwina and agrees to give her blessing.
They keep mentioning a love triangle, but I felt like there was more an appearance of one than an actual conflict. Edwina didn't seem to have real feelings for Anthony in the show, it was more like she was in love with the idea of being charmed by a handsome viscount. I get why they wanted to differentiate between season 1 and season 2 plots, but I feel like it kind of cheapened Anthony and Kate's characters. In the show, Anthony is flirting with and even proposing to someone he knows he doesn't are for despite having feelings for her sister. Then, Kate is listening to her sister talk about her feelings for Anthony, and literally minutes after Edwina realizes their feelings at the wedding, Kate's like, "well, she knows now, so we might as well go for it" with no thought to her sister's feelings. I also hate how bratty they make Edwina after the botched wedding, who gets over herself in about 10 minutes after Kate recovers. In the book, Edwina never even pretended to have feelings for Anthony, she simply knew her obligation to marry well so mom/sister would be taken care of. And she was actually relieved when Kate and Anthony had to marry because 1) she wasn't an idiot and saw the chemistry between them, and 2) she was now free to pursue who she really wanted- an academic with no fortune.
I agree with you when you say that the Kate and Anthony in the book would never ever betray Edwina in that way. And I think the worst to blame is Kate, as Anthony is a newcomer. The love she feels for her sister in the book would never allow her to lie, not only once, but twice. First, not admitting her true feelings for her sister's fiancée; second, not telling her about the dowry. But, after all, I understand why the showrunners decided to change the plot. Not only for not repeating the same "forced-to-marry" twist, but also because it spiced things up. And we have to bear in mind that the show modernizes de books in many ways. It happens with the clothes, with feelings, with manners... So, why not? We would never read about an Eloise mingling with a commoner as she does with Theo. No matter how open-minded she might be. So, with a modern view, it does not feel so wrong that Anthony and Kate behaved the way they did. After all, they never even kiss until after the wedding is called off. And the tension between them is the best feature of the whole season. So, overall, I am quite content.
I absolutely agree! I think that make Kate so much like a brat, headstrong but ultimately stupid woman (not telling her mother about the dowry/ not tellin her sister about the dowry/ continue cross path with Anthony) and Anthony a douche (purposing to Edwina but keep saying things to Kate). Most of the time when Kate wants to do Sth, she fails (direction to the house, shooting), which just make her complaints whiny. Edwina just sounds like a straight A student who got an A- and rant about how she won’t get into college half of the time. I really dislike the main characters and like the books a lot more. In the book, Kate is actually very sensible, cautious, and independent. How Anthony came to realize he needs to allow love in his life also make more sense. I get why the show runner pursuit this tract, but I think sisterly love without competition of a man is really just more refreshing than love triangle that’s been played out over and over again on TV.
Well this was exactly why I didn’t like this season as much. Personally I hate it when films or series stray away from the og story in the books. Usually it’s a “cheaper” story too…. (And I haven’t even read the books) I personally disliked also that they “brown washed” the characters. It’s not likely for that era to have that many interracial marriages and most people not even mentioning it. There’s too many modern twists for me to really say this show is excellent. Would’ve preferred to have it more true to time. Instead of just basicly transforming it to a weird out of this World Series where none of it could’ve actually happened. The whole part where he actually had a wedding with edwina and then still proceeded to have intimacy with Kate and propose only after would’ve never even happened either…. Verry shameful actions
I’m agree with you and not understood why Kate could not even thinking about Anthony. She is célibataire, lady. And Edwina is just pretty young women who followed by other
Not really, I mean Anthony didn't want to marry someone he loved because of how much he saw his mother suffer when his father died and Kate was doing her duty thinking she'll leave and forget him. She cared more for her sister and mother being taken care of than herself, it actually made her very selfless. They were both performing their duties but Anthony getting scared after realising he had feelings for Kate decided to propose to Edwina which was the dumbest decision, all because he was scared when Daphne caught them at Aubrey Hall. I just bought the book so am looking forward to reading more and learning more about Kate and getting more Kanthony.
Maybe they can show that in season 3. The books only focuses on 1 couple at a time but in the show , we can see a lot of things. There are still many plots which can be shown in other seasons. Just wait.
@@dilsedesi1704 the only couples we’ve scene were pen and Collin, they didn’t show much of Daphne and Simon, so I highly doubt they’ll include a scene of Kate being scared of storms and Anthony comforting her
The scene in the book with Anthony and Sienna the opera singer and Anthony’s mistress, and Kate hiding under the desk, is hilarious. Also Kate hiding under a table during a lightning storm. Also Newton interrupting a love scene when Anthony bring Kate her ring. Kate helping Anthony realize his fear of bee sting and his own mortality.
It is so annoying that they dumped all the humour from the book and that the dumb love triangle completely cuts out the fact that Edwina is supposed to meet her 'dream man , a scholar' Mr Bagwell who is studying to an Archaeologist , at the Bridgerton weekend Ball.( Right up there on Edwina's Romance Scale.) Whom she marries. . The Actors were excellent and did very well with a terribly re written screen play. 5hey made Mary Sharma almost out to be incapable by having Kate be the one to ( for whatever dumb reason) be the 0ne dealng with her hateful step Grandparents. If they hated, disliked & despised Kate so much they would NEVER have had business dealings with her about a dowry and settlement for Edwina and Mary. That was a stupid and nonsensical plot
@@millsenberry 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think I liked the fact that he Luuvs Mary so much that she is overwhelmed and the action when Edwina ends up,in the Serpentine because Newton sees her waiting for poor old Nigel to figure out what to do with his broken down carriage and Nigel is so slow on the uptake he has no idea what to do when she is toppled into the the river. I think the fact that Phillppa Featherington marries him is hilarious. Imagine the two of them. Him a sweet hapless bumbler and silly Phiilipa. No wonder Pen is frustrated with the lot of them🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Anthony was a little cruel to Kate in the books. He catches her hiding under chair in his office while he was meeting with an old mistress. Kat's self-esteem is low in the books. She doesn't see herself beautiful and is a very bad dancer. If Pall Mall is better on the show!
they are more complex and acurate for people they age and position in life in that era. In the show they are all,... shallow, I think. Farcical but not in a good way.
I'm so very glad the bee scene was different. As I read the scene in the book, I was rolling my eyes at how dumb it was to think you can "suck out" the venom from a bee sting.🙄
This is a thing actually, they did this in the past when someone got bit by a snake or something and they sucked out the venom and than spit is out so it didn't get it their blood.
@@kflowers8276 and a regency non medical man would know that for sure, right?Like Kate randomly knowing how to aid someone in a panic attack? and by non less than willingly putting a mans hand in her bossom, while nor in nowadays a modern women would do. Briliant. oh people...
@@karolinaservilha2842 A rich titled regency man which means he most likely has the best education anyone could ask for. Yes, I think he should no better. And what Kate did didn't happen in the book.
After reading the book, this season makes me feel frustrated... They left out very relevant scenes and gave a lot of importance to the Featherington family, which are certainly irrelevant in the original story
The books were very different from the series in many aspects, overall the series was entertaining and heartwarming, but the books were very realistic and showed how the society really was in those times unlike the series.
As a non book reader I love season 2. I'm watching videos and re-watching the season. Season 1 never made me do that. It was generally good. But it didn't sit with me. The chemistry and tension between Kathony is so intense in the show I just love it. I can overlook some of the minor things I didn't like and rewatch it over and over.
I agree with you 💯 percent,I loved the series so much better than the books.I have rewatched season 2 more than 6 times. I just can't get enough of them, their chemistry was so on point and Kate and Anthony killed it.
Same! everyone I knew loved season 1 and I liked it, really enjoyed the costumes and colors and characters but didn’t feel like rewatching or even watching again to prepare for season 2… almost didn’t watch season 2 (just watched last week) thinking it would be the same. Soo glad I was wrong! Love season 2! Will watch many times! I love slow burn romance over lots of sex. Way better payoff when they actually get together and it feels real. I’m a bigger fan this season.
@@MalissiaCreates Absolutely! I waited to watch season 2 since I wasn't that enthused to watch it after season 1. I was like, eh, I'll get to it. Then loved it so much I've seen it twice and will watch at least some of it again soon.
Eloise did not find out that Penelope was Miss Whistledown until her own book comes out and she never said anything bad about Eloise that messed up for sure.
@@madsahren2208 i Think Colin’s story comes next. They have already shown so much of his book and also the sentence about Penelope was said. To “fix” Eloise story there must happen so much more if she will marry the same man as she do in the books. I think they still need at least another season for this.
In the first epsiodes of the first season they showed hints of Anthony‘s obsession with time. He checks his watch constantly, even during s*x and Siena mentions at some point she‘ll take away that watch if he won’t stop cheking it
Oh no I am not that person who interjects occasionally to correct another's grammar or pronunciation, but the mispronounced" viscount" as discount was bloody jarring to my ears. Plz forgive my seemingly snobbish manner but it's an utter disgrace to pronounce it so WRONG repeatedly. 😭
I hated the love triangle angle. It villanized Kate and Anthony's characters. And Anthony proposing to Edwina after his sister helped him realize he was falling for Kate was a completely di€k move!!! Edwina was never naive just doing her duty because with her youth, looks, and temperament was decided more conventional, she was considered most likely to find titled match. Edwina Sall right away how Anthony kept engaging with her sister. As a matter of fact she mostly encouraged it. Also the carriage accident was way more dramatic then the horse fall. After being such a jerk to Kate but realizing he was in love with his wife an deciding he wasn't going to let his perceived fate control his happiness. He sees the carriage go down a rips through ignoring the wood cutting him to get to Kate. Finding her unconscious yelling at her to live cause he loved her....Way more drama! I would have loved to see that play out
I think a lot of book readers are disappointed in this season. In the book, you get to see the couple grow together and work through really traumatic experiences they have both shared and eventually fall in love. This season sacrificed a lot of character development for side plots that felt like time we could have spent with the leads. If you compare last season and how much time the show focused on Daphne and Simon, I think we got way less time with the leads this season. There was a funny scene with Newton that got cut, but I could go on and on about changes to the book. The writers for this season pretty much threw the book out the window after episode 3. I really wish we got more payoff for the slow burn we watched, so we could have had at least 2 episodes with the couple being happy together.
Agree. But one thing i liked in this season that i believe is not in the book is the relationship between Eloise and Theo i think it could give a nice history besides it was almost impossible to happen in that time
@@MrDenisedora yes most definitely would have been frowned upon AND neither Penelope or Eliose would have been so easily escaped from a ladies maid / companion to go gallivanting off on their own . No young woman of 'wealth or breeding' would be allowed out in the daytime by herself not matter how hard they tried. I'm sure many a young 'lady' did really try too in the real Regency era. But her maid / companion would have really trynher darnedest to watch like a hwk as her very livelihood and continued employment depended on her vigilance
@@micheledix2616 I agree with you. Probably neither Kate would be allowed to ride a worse in the morning alone. But this is all fantasy. Let's dream what we would like to happen. Lol
@@MrDenisedora I think young woman may have been able to walk , ride and be out alone as loving it was on their own family property. Even Jane Austen has her ladies ( same era as Bridgerton) being alone on areas where it was considered 'safe' . And Jane Austen was writing from her own experiences of a lady's life in that era
The things I missed the most in the show: in the books the bee Causes his biggest loss - but also his greatest gain, Kate’s trauma the fact that Edwina is one of the first to see that Anthony is smitten for Kate And That Edwina wants to marry a scholar and not a Duke/prince/viscount And the scene with Penelope, Kate, Cressida and Anthony
I would have MUCH rather seen a slow-burn romance where they fall for each other throughout their marriage than to see these sisters fight over a man. I think Kate and Anthony are great together in the show but the love triangle was highly irritating, especially when Kate and Anthony started sneaking around while Anthony and Edwina were ENGAGED.
Agreed. It really didn’t match with the time period. The director should’ve picked a diffrent show playing out in 2022 to direct cause clearly she doesn’t want to see old fashioned society laws and thinks somehow that changing them in the show will make it better while it only makes it worse and annoying to watch
It's only me that liked the relationship between Eloise and Theo? I know it is not in the book, but after the couple Kate and Anthony i was watching this serie to see Eloise and Theo. I believe their relationship could give a nice history besides it was almost impossible to happen at that time.
I loved their relationship! I hope it continues in season 3. Theo was my favorite character in season 2, even though he had hardly any screen time. He’s so down to earth, intelligent, and sweet. He is also living in a completely different world than all of the other characters and it was refreshing to see someone living a more normal lifestyle. I think he balances Eloise’s personality out very well and helps her see what the world is like for most people. He challenges her and helps her grow as a person.
I loved their relationship too! But given what happened with Sienna from the first season with Anthony I was pissed that they'd introduce a character only to probably not use him next season
They already introduced Eloise « love » in first season. I think even if they changed the detailed of story, the principal lines will be kept. So for Eloise we have already her love
@@shayaridilsey6150 but in the books she never actually ruined Eloise images or that Marina thomson's and Colin one that is why Eloise is annoyed with Penelope in the season but in the books that was never mentioned so it made sense. And also it was selfish of Penelope to write about Marina like that in the whistledown society papers because she wanted Colin for herself and she did the wrong thing so someone had to reprimand her.
“But reject him because she thinks he doesn’t love.” Anthony: *literally stays with her for a week, freaks out when he thinks she about to die, twice. And shows his vulnerable side to just her.*
As I loved the sharma's family (and the actresses are so wonderfull), as I was desapointed by the changes of action. The bee scene in the garden missed so much, and the tips is used for Philippa and the new lord Featherington (so the excuse to make some difference whith season one fail). I also mess the friendship between Kate and Penelope, and the scene where Anthony save this lady from the cruelty Cressida. I definitly prefer the book, but I steel enjoy the season. Except when they spoiled books 3 and 4 at the end of the last episode
SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!! 😫😫😫 I'm SO scared they are going to change it up, as they did with Book 1 and even more with Book 2. For once, can they just leave it alone lol. Book 3 is my favorite so I really want to see it the way the book has it written. They can add scenes if they want, but please don't leave out scenes!
@@jhanaecoker1878 i’ m agree. Book 3 and 4 are my favorite. The story of Benedict is really wonderful And even for film, it’s a very beautiful story. Maybe they add more drama and social issue between them, but the lead sujet should be kept
@@jhanaecoker1878 while book 3 is in my top 3 but I did not like the scene while Benedict was just pushing his rights to you know have sex with Sophie and to be his mistress even when Sofie had been very clear when she says 'no' and no means no but he just kept pushing it even after he realises that he loves her it was only after Colin's talk when he realises that nothing else matters and I want to marry her. I would really like to change that in the series whatsoever. Otherwise everything else in the story was actually beautiful and I really like it.
I think that the scenes in the show were not enough but, they were amazing. The book focused purely on Kanthony however, the show was distracted by a lot of sub-plot. I think both of them were amazing on their own merit but, the show leaves me hungry for more. Moreover, the love triangle was in essence, not a triangle. Kate and Anthony were always drawn together, but Edwina was not chosen but, something akin to being hired by Anthony. The speech he gave her was also partly fueled by the passionate display he saw from Kate proclaiming he must marry her sister, that feelings would pass and were not of much import. On the other side, Kate was swimming in denial and she truly thought Edwina loved Anthony and, was ready to sacrifice her happiness. The last point, I think is of the utmost importance - Edwina did not know the Viscount at all. What she knew was a facade he put on to woo her. The only time Anthony was genuine when Edwina was concerned was in the poetry gathering
I am a book lover, so many passionate scenes in the book! One thing the series missed out is Anthony (considering going back to his mistress) but then he change his mind and decided not to see his ex (this happened early on after meeting Kate, solidifying his feelings for her).
The next bridgerton love intrest will be Benedicts, from the books it seems like the main plot might start off as a Cinderella story. Sophie Beckett is her name in the books. If I remember correctly she's also...white. I wonder what she'll look like!!!
Not necessarily. A lot of these types of videos purposely give false info (usually just one tidbit), make a typo, or in this case a mispronunciation because it gets people to comment even more. It’s comes to a point where I actually look out for it now when I watch videos of this style lmao
I wasn't a fan of the changes from the books- I loved the natural way they feel in love while being forced into marriage. I hate that they made it up like that- I also hated the fight with Elouise and Penelope. Not how she finds out. Hated that.
@@shivaniits "forced" into marriage because they were in a compromised position. The book points out the attractions and how Anthony was fearful of Kate's pending death and how he was in Love with her. Remember these books are set in the late 1800's a very different time from today. He loved her and was smitten- the TV show did not show the love story that developed over time between the "forced" proposal and marriage.
Nice to see that a few friendly neighborhood racists graced the comment section with their presence to complain about the inclusivity like Hollywood doesn’t whitewash stories and underrepresent people of color in 90% of what they produce. 🙄 Anyway, based on the comments here detailing other differences between the book and the screen adaptation, I think I like the plot of the screen version better. Do wish me got more screen time with the main couple though.
Kate in the books was annoying at times especially when she said the word rake like 100 times in one chapter. He's a rake, you're a rake, every man is a rake rake. Talking to Colin you're a rake like your brother. Like damn we get it she was worried about her sister but how many times in one book could she say the word rake. That got annoying along with most of books when all the men are like I have to make it good for her. By the time I got to the final book before the couple have sex, I am like I know you have to make it good for her.
So I HATED how they made it a weird thing with Edwina... That was horrible. The books provided more depth to Antony and Kate, so I missed that. Other than that I loved the show as well. The inclusiveness is EVERYTHING in this. One of the reasons I am overlooking the inaccuracies of the show 🤣
This makes alot of sense now because it felt like Edwina was just there a lot of the time. Her story wasn’t really the strongest. I didn’t read the books btw. I understand them wanting to give a different story than season one but I think it would have been interesting to see the books version. Regardless, I did enjoy this season.
It rrally pisses me off when I read a book which describes a main character with diffrenet characterietics and I have already imagined her and they dont follow the book...
Season 2 has been my least favorite. I am not a fan of lying and they took lying about theit feelings waaaayyyy too far for my taste. Also if they hadnt dragged it out so long we would have got to see Kate and Anthony actually enjoy being together. I just read the book last week and i was so apprehensive because i was dreading having to endure the lying in book form. I was pleasently surprised to learn that wasnt the case. The book wasnt at all what i expected based on season two. Only to be highly disappointed with the level of lying that occurs in book 3, An Offer From A Gentleman...so now i am not much looking forward to season four.
All I can say is thank God I didn’t waste my time watching the series. The books were better but I lost interest in the series. They really butchered it with the tv adaptation. Season 3 was bad. 🤢😵💫
Personally I think that they made all good changes from what I see in the video. I admittedly haven't read the books yet but the differences all seemed to enhance the story vs take away from it. Edwina is more than a side character, Anthony and Kate actually choose each other freely, there is historical reference to India at a time when the British were still colonizing the place so they did interact a lot albeit with very imbalanced power dynamics much of the time due to colonialism, and it left a lot of room for further development of their love and connection for future seasons as well. If we had to lose Simon (still crying over that one) at least we will get to see Anthony and Kate together in the future
Thank god for someone who actually realises this. I have read the book and the book she was 21 years and she considered herself to be a spinster new nobody will marry her in the city so she was not finding a match for but in this series is so good that she had to be so strong she doesn't care about marriage was that I don't want to marry and I want to go back to India just very good. Forcefully married after the scene of the bi at she feels like that he is just marrying out of publication that he would never marry me he does not feel passion for me when he is trying to be intimate with that is so low when I read that so good in the book that they both marriage other because they both at that time love each other it so beautiful. So all in all season 2 was very good.
I loved the books, such a pleasure to read but this deviates from them so much. This does not have the same feel and I just didn’t like it. If this sounds like something you would like please pick up the books first.
Totally agree the only common ground was the Title and the characters names . Made me SO frustrated and very disappointed when I had been so looking forward to series 2 . The actors were fantastic and did the best they could with a cringy, crappy screenplay which was more like The Bold And The Beautiful or Days of Our Lives in fabulous Faux Regency costumes and sets. All that humour from the original plot completely dumped. Cannot decide if I want to bother watching Series 2 again. Which makes me sad. And then hope to goodness that they don't trash the plot of An Offer from a Gentleman, Benedict & Sophie's story
@@maydelin21 yes me too. I don't mind minor adaptations like making the Sheffield family the Sharmas but to completely dump a whole basis of an original plot seems really disrespectful to an author even if they popped in a TV watered down version of Pall Mall and an insipid version of the Bee Sting scence without all the side humour. & a very unsatisfactory version of one of the library scene and completely left out the funny library scene with the opera singer ( could have still been Sienna) during the ball. And as for Newton, well he certainly didn't get the hilarious scenes he should have . They made him out to be a very boring pooch in comparison
Now I love Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran and I think that they are both Fantastic, But I am SO GLAD this video exists!! "The Viscount Who Loved Me" is my favorite book of the whole series, and I was SO disappointed with this season. I know that this series is just based on the books but at least the first Season was at least 60% the book, "The Duke and I", where are this one was only. I was so disappointed, frustrated and upset with how they made Edwina into a Major Character who gets all the way to the alter. I missed the play/ banter/ arguing/ steaminess between Kate and Anthony that was in the book.
I could not get beyond this flagrant mispronunciation of VISCOUNT. Even if you didn’t know how to pronounce it, they say it a million times in the show. Don’t be lazy!
It's not about watching the show or not, there are people that are not english and did not watch the series in english. Maybe she is not an english native speaker and she made a mistake. I'm italian and I watched the show in italian, the word "viscount" in italian is almost the same (visconte) but when you pronounce it the "s" is not silent.
Been a fan of Julia Quinn books for over 20 years. No tv\movie is ever going to get it the same, or right, but I actually think in my humble opinion, Shonda did a great job in translating the love stories, and making the stories relatable to the modern romantic! And I get to fall in love with the Bridgerton family all over again… win win!
They didn’t showed 2 scenes in the library: The first time when she was hiding under his desk , while He was flirting with his ex-lover the singer, ending kissing Kate and when He founded her shivering during the storm, protecting her. Anyway, I like both a lot except the “wedding” (I believe it wasn’t necessary) in the show as well in the book they got forced to get married too soon.
Prefer the books. Also, the duke should be recast. it is really odd not having him there. There are plenty of good actors, including black ones, that can play the part.
Please, it is pronounced Vi-count (long "i") not Vis-count. If you are going to report on something, it should be done properly. Fan or not, the mispronunciation is cringe worthy. This is the 2nd video that I've seen where you've done this.
I found the whole series disappointing. The actors were amazing but the deviation from some of the most profound and romantic moments,in their discovery of love, left me cold. The Regency often had marriages based on the compromised rule and as a reader of that genre I would not have minded a repeat. Penelope, in the book, was not publicly compromised but Colin’s actions made it imperative. I wonder if that will go also? I went back and reread the book to get rid of the harsh taste of fighting siblings and a drawn out weak Anthony portrayal. My expectations will be tamped down for 3, but I will watch. Loved the books .
yeah one difference between the second book and the series is in the book that Eloise doesn't find out that Penelope is the famous Lady Whistledown until later on as Colin Bridgerton helps Penelope hide that she is Lady Whistledown instead of the series Eloise Bridgerton finds out that Penelope is famous Lady Whistledown very close to end of the second season of the show
In the first epsiodes of the first season they showed hints of Anthony‘s obsession with time. He checks his watch constantly, even during s*x and Siena mentions at some point she‘ll take away that watch if he won’t stop cheking it
