I'm working on One Dark Window, from your recommendation, and I love it! I've been keeping a list of the books you guys recommend, (the ones I may like, anyway) and it's about to overtake my notebook. I just finished The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. I found it in a local thrift store and based on the title( I’m a knitter) I grabbed it. I enjoyed it! It was an easy read set around a knitting shop with a few twists and turns. It got mixed reviews on Goodreads, so I’m glad I didn’t look at them before I read the book as I liked it 😄😄 Excellent video as usual 👍👏😄❤️❤️📚

I am typically more aligned with Brandon's reads but this month Taylor's list is resonating with me! I have been very interested in The Tainted Cup and I really loved Ernest Hemingway when I was a teen. I should reread them now, 45 yr later to see if they stand up to time.

I'm currently on a trashy romance kick, but I also plan to reread Eragon this month! I haven't read it since I was a kid, but I've heard it stands up even as an adult read. Tayler, a fantasy stand alone you might like is Tress of the Emerald Sea by Brandon Sanderson. It's not dark at all, but instead very lighthearted and akin to The Princess Bride. I read it after slogging through some more intense series, and it was a much needed refreshing tale of adventure, love, and friendship. Also if there's any interest in reading aloud to your boys, I think they would really enjoy it! It's very family friendly.

I just finished The Heaven and Earth Grocery store by James McBride. Amazing! Did I hear about this from you? Seems like a book Branden would like. Next up, Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone. If you end up liking the Hemingway, I really loved For Whom the Bell Tolls. And for that mid-century beautiful wit in language one of my favorite authors is Muriel Spark. I'd start with The Mandelbaum Gate. It's is so original and fascinating.

I highly recommend Larson’s book, “Dead Wake.” It’s about the sinking of the Lusitania and is very good. I also read another of his books, “In The Garden of Beasts,” but I wasn’t as impressed with that. Taylor, I have ‘The Tainted Cup’ in my TBR also. I’m curious to hear how you like it. I found the artwork and the writing of Slewfoot to be stunning; I read it last year, and I still think about Abitha! I hope you enjoy it as much, Tayler. I just finished The Tainted Cup last week. I hope there will be more in the series, as it is listed as Shadow of the Leviathon #1 on Goodreads. I enjoyed the combination of fantasy, mystery, and a difficult detective. I'm currently reading How the Word is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America by Clint Smith; I wish I had read this when it was released in 2021. I'm also listening to All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitacre and plan to read Sipsworth and The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet next. However, I want to get to some of the books you both recommended that I've picked up. One of those may be unseated by One Dark Window. I would love to hear your thoughts on this, especially since I'm sure you both receive many recommendations. How do you narrow down your TBR, decide what to weed out, and what to read next?

Wow! Thanks for the wonderful comment. Branden here and as far as my TBR goes, I try to be straight forward and read in order of purchase/pick-up as much as I can. So I’ve read about half of SoA and then put it down. That was about three years ago and I want to pick it back up again. It’s a good story, but once they get to Troy, it slows down a bit (but I mean, it’s like ten years in-book time so makes sense 😅) so I think I just wasn’t in the headspace for it. If you liked Circe, chances are you’ll like this. However, it’s a huge cast of characters and much more political and militarily focused. This is Tayler, btw. ☺️
