I love that he's playing these next to some truly dear guitars. The red Fender sounds like a ukulele, but that mahogany Fender has the best bass sound of the group.
@@rickeymitchell8303 both. If you do some work to the bracing, you can probably do a lot for the sound, but that headstock will never look good on an acoustic.
The mahogany Fender sounds awesome. I'm an Epi guy myself, but that one wins out slightly on tone and it's pretty. Dagan, keep posting, lad and I'll keep watching. Free humor. I dig it.
I have the Fender CD-60 (no cutaway) and I prefer to play it over a lot of guitars 2 to 3 and sometimes 4 times the price. 3 of my friends have recently went out and bought one as well as a travel guitar, so they don’t have to lug around their more expensive guitars.
It's a Creed song called "With arms wide open". Here is an acoustic live version of their song: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xoGWe9l-OG8.html
Dude! I was watching this video when my Fender CD-60SCE suddenly appeared! I've owned Washburn's, Taylor's, etc and this Fender is my fave by far! Sounds and plays like a $1,500 guitar but for 1/3 that price. Rich, warm and light when needed.
I bought the original version of Yamaha APX500 15 yrs ago from UK. Since then, I have been frequenting shops and trying out everything from $3000 Taylors to Takamine's and everything in between. But every time I come back and pickup the APX, I realize why I liked it in the first place and still use it extensively. Its my fav guitar in the world. Great video and selection.
I actually love that bright tone on the little red Fender! I love a good, brassy sound for leading sing-a-long type stuff in open air. It cuts through!
I bought my son the Fender CD 60 SCE for Christmas, on the strength of this review. The only difference is he preferred the spruce top. It plays like a dream, and he is thrilled with it. So thank you for a fantastic review video, I would have been lost without it.
Bought the Fender CD-CSE60 after this video, it's such an amazing guitar and sounds so nice! Thanks Dagan for the advise, it's partially because of this video that I started playing so that's pretty cool! Later!
Tried out couple fender, stuck with a $600 Alvarez AGW , love Ibanez and Fender electric not acoustic. The $999 Taylor was out of budget still the best one I tried out
Well , you have made my day and got me to purchase a new guitar after 12 years. I appreciate that you have not used any gimmicks to make them sound any better.
I bought myself an Epiphone DR-100, & I'm absolutely in love with it. The Pro-1 sounds good too but I prefer the sound of my DR-100 though. But gotta agree that Fender CD-60 Sounds awesome too!!
bought a Tanglewood TWCR O last week for £99 and a £70 pickup for when i start music at college later this year. it was great to play in store and i cant wait to pay off the rest of the price and take it home :D
The last one os definately the best. The yamaha a close 2nd. The rest weren't even near. Great vid, you kept me watchin to the end cos you are entertaining and informative. Thumbs up
I agree 100% the Yamaha APX 500 sounds fantastic. Deep full bottom tones. Sounds just as good through an amp. I like the shape and feel of it. I've been planning to get one. Good value for the money.
The little Garish folk had me at red. It sounded like crap but I was willing to overlook that until a saw the price. Then I liked the other fender. But the Epi & Tanglewood would be hard to pass up for less than 100 squid.
Dagan, I have said it before, you are so adorable! You really make hearing the guitar information fun, yet informative. This time I am looking to upgrade my Fender acoustic to a decent acoustic electric guitar.
When you analyze guitarist throughout history you realize that at the moment their iconic guitar was like the ok guitar of the era. Somehow they became "the best" and most "expensive" of today. Like if you were to see the original guitars they played on their first albums which made them who they are and gave them that unique sound...they were the norm/genetic guitar people had. lol oh...life is full of surprises lol
Dagen, you're a wild man! I totally dig where you're coming from dude. Hey, Thanks for the info. As a beginner I need all the help I can get. Excellent critiquing of the differences and subtleties of each guitar and their characteristics. Informative and entertaining. And you don't play half bad either. 🤣 Mad love from across the pond bro! ✌🏻🇺🇸
What an Awesome presentation and demonstration of these guitars. Done very well by this musician salesperson at PM TV UK. Well done 👍Player. Your a great asset to PUT. ☝They need to give you a raise and a promotion to manage your own store. 🙏 Well done ole chap. 💯🔥🎸😎✌💙🤘 😎💯
You're a fu""""ing blast to listen to! I had to pause it and comment when you got to "tear me to shreds for how badly I played that, but don't tear this guitar to shreds, it's phenomenal!"... maybe you didn't say lovely but you said it at some point...I dig you mate! I was researching electric guitars for a couple months and I was replying on comparison videos, as it is I'm in a nursing home with Emphasema and on lockdown due to the Pandemic. No one here gets out... and no non essential people get in, so I couldn't go to a shop, play a few and make a decision. I don't want pity please, I'm doing great, quit smoking and I have a brand new Fender Squier Affinity SSS and a Fender Mustang Lt25 modeling amp, a decision I arrived at with the help of your videos. You were demoing the 50 watt version of the amp I ended up getting, and I'm now watching this for someone here that wants to learn, wants an acoustic, and wants to spend $150.00 American dollars. I've a vague idea of what a quid is, but I think I may be able to find out, I have internet access obviously, but I'm still not finished with you're video, gotta have priorities. I have watched you so often and you always inspire me as a guitar player and as a human being. You're self deprecating sense of humor and you're general attitude of silliness is awesome, because underneath it all it's obvious that you're a very intelligent guy, with a tremendous amount of knowledge of all things guitar, gear, I'd have loved to have stumbled into your shop rather than go through a local guy here in Miami, but after I find out if he will give me a proper setup without charging me, I'll find out whether or not he's one of the good guys? I thought he was, but my intonation is off at 12, almost a half step sharp and the actions high, and the high e is more difficult to bend than the b so that's not cool. I have to have the bedrail removed and go through a whole 20 minutes of getting setup before I can even begin, I will eventually be able to sit in a chair, but I'm playing from bed and can't put the weight on my feet to transfer, it's complicated, I had a back surgery too (ugh this guy has problems ,NO PLEASE LET ME MAKE MY POINT, NONE OF THAT...I'm at peace, I'm happy, I'm under Hospice care and after many years my pain is being well managed, meaning I'm taking some really good drugs! The primary reason is of course to minimize, if not remove the pain, but I must admit, being pain free has its own feeling of happiness after yrs of it, but I do like the secondary benefit of this very pleasant opiate buzz...I can understand how one could become very easily addicted to them. My heart goes out to anyone fighting an addiction, and I do think if the great losses to the music world, Prince, Tom Petty, and it just goes on, guitars strapped on jumping around on stage has lead to more musicians needing surgery, mine is from my own stubborn abusing of it, but my point is this) I've not walked since my back surgery, and playing from this bed is tricky, if I make room for the amp, it's in my wheelchair lol, portable! I can hang my legs down, at least 1 and I get a HALF decent angle, but it's not the same as sitting on a stool, or standing...a work in progress but, if the guitar were setup properly, I'd be more willing to go to the trouble of getting a nurse to take this bed rail off etc ...I'm playing anyway, 1 way or another I'll have it setup if I have to order the allen wrenches myself. I'm going to call him cause he said try it out and some like it slinkier than others, but he didn't do anything to it, so that's a bit dissapointing, but easily remedied. I went off on a tangent or 2, but I always end up mentioning why I've relied so heavily on videos like these, and then explain that I'm not to be pitied please don't, I'm doing better than 98% of this world's population and all my needs are met, I have breakfast in bed, a room with a view of palm trees and blue skies, I believe God put great people in my life so I'm well taken care of medically, and I've got a tablet, a new laptop from my Hospice social worker, and a great Guitar/Amp set-up, it just needs a setup the setup does, so my main point was to say that I'm doing research for someone who knows nothing, where as I know a little, I don't know what's on the market, so I wound up here. The first thing suggested when I typed in affordable acoustic etc.. I always smile, and I'm a fan of yours personally, you've got character, you are a character, and you're not arrogant, humility is one of my favorite qualities, and sense of humor! I just really felt compelled to convey my sincere appreciation for helping me decide, and my friend who watched said only that he liked the 7th guitar you review, I'm going to have a look, I loved guitars long before I could play , they're just so cool visually right? Nothing sounds like a guitar when it's crying and singing, cracked up, I fell in love with the guitar at a very young age, and only started learning at 16 or so, I think that's why you look like you're enjoying your life man! You're surrounded by all that cook stuff. It's been said that if you can work doing something you love, you never have to work a day in your life. In your case , if all you did was play, like if you were a guitar player for a living like Clapton, itd be different, you've got to sweep the floor, and deal with customers and carry heavy amps and stuff, there's some stuff you may not be in love with, but it still beats painting houses for a living, task work. My grandfather was from Yorkshire England and he painted houses, I've done manual labor too, there's no degrading work, all work should be respected right? Guitar shops are cool though, like working in a toy store sort of! Anyway, Ive rambled on, so it's time to ramble on!☮️✌️
I have had my CD60-SCE Mahogany for a month now. The second I picked it up, it felt like a guitar worth much more than it's fairly modest price, and it sounds absolutely excellent. Highly recommend it.
No one loved the fender malibu.but you could try it's bigger brother the newporter.Even one for the lefties like me.And with cutaway. It's a great guitar.
my first acoustic i got a few years ago and it was a cheap yamaha and it is still the one that i use to this day and my dad grew up in the 80s so i use his electric occasionally but i love the acoustic guitar
My Stagg SA20D is pretty nice for the £90 I paid for it. It's a dreadnaught, and the sound is pleasing enough for me. The only thing bad about it was the tuners. The gears on the inside of 1 or 2 had lots of broken teeth after a couple of months. Sorted that out with some cheap replacement tuners off Amazon, and I haven't had any problems since.
I bought the Tangelwood Crossroads last week its fantastic really is the orchestra electro accoustic version I'm selling my accoustic Red Eastwood guitar dreadnought or atleast trying too I don't need 2
...There are still nice comment sections on RU-vid where the general community are nice and polite. No poisonous smart-alecs or moralizing bullies, nobody being a dick just for the sake of it. Playing guitar is ONE place we all come for calm, a craft to enjoy in peace. The best of health to everybody here, coz music music music x
Thank you so much for this video! I’m not rich and I love to play....I try. I’ll deff look into buying one of these. Man, I’m a side note, this lad’s got loads of that X factor charisma haha. Good stuff 👍
@@garyfreshour7799 Thank you, the guy in the store thought it was the best value acoustic they had. Glad to hear you've enjoyed and like it many years later.
I'm with you... The Fender sounded amazing! I love the deep rich sound and am now considering purchasing one! Luckily, I no longer have to ask a "Wife's" permission... so it's just a matter of finding the best deal I can.
Just once I'd like to see a comment section of a video of his without the reference of him looking like you know who...it's getting old people...really...
I always love to be given a couple of options and choosing my favorite so, if I had the ability to choose one of these guitars I would pick the... Yamaha APX500 MK3
@@jimmcdonough2878 I could only find the dreadnought version as im currently in Spain and not as many options show but amazon is your best bet www.amazon.com/Tanglewood-Crossroads-Dreadnought-Acoustic-Electric-Guitar/dp/B01BFEQFDU/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1537560235&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=tanglewood+crossroads&dpPl=1&dpID=41yLkwMTmyL&ref=plSrch
Nice sound man but after a while I was getting serious string buzz which is a shame really coz I did enjoy playing it but I would not recommend anyone to buy one
Quite the opposite: Yamahas are CRAPPY as hell, all the way up to 400$ range (models like f310/370 - FS800) sound metallic/glassy (just like that Washburn in this review). Screeching, ringing, as if their bodies are made of a tin bucket.
Mahogany shoes and raincoat? Now I must decide, Fender CD 60SCE or Yamaha APX 500.,, Possibly the Fender Malibu, dare I? I'm 74 and cannot play guitar. Have I waited too long?
Kent Brashear No you have NOT waited too long Matey. Anyone can learn most of the chords played here. Which was your favourite sound? Go with that and enjoy :-)
You're never too old Kent! Choose the one you think will make you pick it up and play it regularly. There's no point in having the best sounding guitar if you're not enthused to pick it up. Go for the malibu, you know you want to! Plus it's a bit smaller, so probably a bit easier to hold and play for someone new to guitar. There are free structured lessons at justinguitar.com and JustinGuitar on RU-vid. If you think you'll learn quicker by having 10 minute mini lessons and exercises sent to you on a daily basis (5 days a week) then you might like to join Tony's Acoustic Challenge (TAC) at tonypolecastro.com, which is a site you have to pay for, but there is lots of good stuff happening there. If you want to whet your appetite and find out what Tony and the team are like before you part with any money you can now find them at acousticlife.tv/ I use Justin's site to learn songs and I use Tony's site because it keeps me motivated to play by sending me little exercises to do. I hope you get a guitar and start your guitar playing journey soon. Good Luck! jb
Never too late Kent. I'm 72, and playing guitar music is keeping me ticking over like a well oiled machine. Go to justinguitar.com there you can find a lot of free videos for beginners. Both starting chords and songs to play with those chords. Strumming and other techniques to get you started. Also more advanced stuff, all for free. Justin is a great teacher; I have learnt so much from him over the years. I love the sound of the Fender CD-60SCE Electro Acoustic Guitar in Mahogany. Good luck with your musical journey!! Cheers!!
I've had my eye on the fender all mahogany for the past week. I've only been playing for 3 months and I don't know anything about guitars. My brother gave me his Ovation Celebrity. Would I be downgrading quite badly if I were to buy the fender and give him back his Ovation?
I love mahogany guitars I have a Taylor GS mini but I really like the sound of the fender in the demo and the Yamaha same as you those were to my two favorites
Dagan I took your advice and bought a Fender 60SCE acoustic ten months ago and it is a beautifully sounding guitar. I broke the 1st E string and need to replace it but I don't know what size strings were originally on it or what size strings are best suited to this guitar for rock music or just over all best sound. Any help from anyone would be most appreciated. Thanks Dagan for all the great videos.
Another fine video, but feel you should layout what your definition of "cheap" is. For me, I'd say about $200 USD or less. In looking up the Fender Malibu on Muscians Friend it was listed at $399 USD - that ain't cheap. Anyway, just a suggestion, a line off the top just saying the price range would be helpful. Thank you.
I'm self taught after breaking my back and having a few months in bed to keep myself occupied. I have to watch videos like this because I'm still not good enough or confident enough to walk into a shop. Im your camp fire rhythm player who can't even tell you all the components of the guitar 😂
I have that CD 60sce for myself(yeah it's mahagony 😊)... Joined my company just two days ago !! It's just 'fun'tastic to play .am very much impressed with it.. I would definitely recommend it !! The only problem is that it has got a slight buzz...
I just played a Rogue at Guitar Center. I have a Taylor 214ce Deluxe. I payed $1400 for it. I liked playing the Rogue acoustic more than my Taylor. It played easier, actually sounds better and it's selling for $70. You should do a review of one of those. I'm going back to Guitar Center tomorrow and buying it.
Ooof but the £99 one was my favourite but since i live in Australia its $169 dollars like its nearly doubled if you convert it to AUD (australian dollars)
