I find unloading the shred very satisfying. Sometimes I just go crazy throwing things on the pile.

Hundreds of years in the future somebody will be metal detecting on the ground where your house once stood and will find thousands and thousands of pc screws scattered about.

My GAWD YOU'RE making a phenomenal amount of space to store/work/scrap my friend 😁 We call those 'Fiber Optics" cable here in the states Ben. And check this - believe it or not a huge portion of fiber optic line is actually glass - kinda sorta but not really but kinda 😳😊 ZOMG !! How crazy CRA CRA coincidences today that is Ben !! Exactly the same identical time that you mentioned it being garbage day and you also could hear the garbage truck, I too also immediately heard our streets GARBAGE truck picking up our neighborhood's trash !!! Unloading shred steel is oddly satisfying. Its one of the few times chaos and destruction are completely okay.

Ben we enjoy the steel being taken to scrap yard and would like to see you depopulate some of the boards that you take out of them all part of watching you scrap not just dismantling the items

14:18 crack open one of those golden boxes, they may have very nice gold bond wires inside ! They are the part that actually converts the electrical signal into optical signal, and the reverse, thanks to laser diode annd photodetector.

I used to sell laser stuff on ebay and those fiber optics assemblies are worth a lot of money sold as parts and bits rather than simply gutted like this. The unit you unceremoniously gutted was a wavelength division multiplexer.

Yeah Ben,.Fiber optics at the time they were the high tech creme de la creme mode of high speed data transfer and communications,so don't get rid of the stuff until you identify it. Like those fiber optic boxes, i could be wrong but me thinks they(the chips and other) could be worth something more then scrape value. So they are already trashing the fiber optics and switching to something faster,.hmmm. And I see you got a new drill,.nice.

On one end of those fiber optic lines should be a gold plated laser diode. I have come a crossed similar boards from my local telephone co. in the states.

Those aren't RF kind of waveguides, they're just physical supports for the fibres, not to excede a certain bend radius threahold. Very tightly bent optical fibres lose internal reflectivity.

Hi there, have seen some of your pc vids, and was wondering, why you didn't fire it up with Windows and sell them :-D I would have done that, did it with some pc, there's always beginners/elders who can use this to learn this :-D This is gold in my eyes :-)

Ben I like your videos, and actually I shouldn't interfere in your work. But you need a real workbench, at a good height with a comfortable chair. In the long run it will be the back that will thank you, none of us are getting any younger.

Fiber optics have been around for a long time. At least since the 70's that I know of. I remember being a little kid and my parents had them lights that had the fiber optic cable on them and would be all different colors. And as far as China getting all the manufacturing, that's sickening when you think about Clinton just pretty much handing over the USA's ability to be self sufficient. Now look at the situation we are in. Hopefully Trump will bring back our manufacturing. It's sad when the greatest country ever can't even make PPE masks anymore.

Could you please tell me how you get such a large supply of scrap, im only doing bits at the min but want to up my game a bit. Im in the uk so no competition bud, cheers n keep up the good vids 😉
