i hope you dont mind me saying this but you2 make a good looking couple. just found your channel and i am excited. what you 2 are doing sounds amazing.
I have just got off the MSC World Europa, western Med cruise (Barcelona to Malta) and it was fabulous. Not a single complaint. If something didnt work in the cabin, the steward was on it immediately. Good communication between staff and passengers. The food and entertainment was fantastic. I cant wait for my next MSC cruise. I agree, the Balcony/Stateroom is the only way to go.
Check out Cruise with Ben and David for an adventurous trip on the MSC Europa. The ship is gorgeous, with very similar designs to our Harmony and Symphony of the Seas
31:31 "When in Europe " ... wear comfortable shoes! You know you'll be walking for a long time, and you can still look stylish without sacrificing comfort.
Thanks for your informative video. We just got back from our MSC cruise and I have to say there are many things that you mentioned that sounded very familiar - especially the lack of activities on at sea days. However, we had a phenomenal time on board. Everyone, and I do mean literally everyone, on the ship was incredibly kind, friendly and helpful. Granted, I’ve never been on another cruise so, I don’t have anything to compare this cruise to, but we overall had an amazing experience and I would definitely cruise with MSC again.
MSC is an Italian cruise line so don’t expect an American experience. Announcements are in multiple languages, entertainment needs to cross language barriers so that’s an adjustment. A few Europeans I spoke to were ok with warm rather than hot food. I notice the difference from US style cruise lines and I like both. Europeans can be rude, do not queue, push in, it is what it is. I’ve just returned from a 28 night MSC cruise and it was great. People got on and off at different ports. I’ve also cruised the Med with MSC and enjoyed it. We don’t tip in Aus and NZ so MSC waived gratuities for all without fuss unless we wanted to pay. US cruise lines will do so too but it’s a drama.
We agree with your comments, it is a different experience. We have been on 4 MSC cruise ships out of Florida, admittedly paid for the Yacht Club experience on all. We love it, but it's not for everyone. especially those who have no international experience.
You're generalising Europeans into one single group. Europe is a whole continent, and people vary massively depending on the region and the country. For example Northern Europeans in particular are generally polite and are very good in queues, much better than the Americans.
We have sailed a few MSC (out of a total of about 13 cruises in the last 8 years) and are on the World Europa this Friday around the Mediterranean. A couple of things to note is that MSC changes its entertainment approach depending on the expected nationalities of the guests so a UK one is more British, US more American etc so Med is very Italian focused. Also because kids travel free on MSC during children school holidays they are packed solid. MSC deals are much cheaper than elsewhere so the food won’t be Azamara etc standard or even NCL. They also have one of the cheapest drinks packages going so they are a lot cheaper all in than RCCL for example - a lot cheaper. Our last RCCL cruise was disappointing as the food standard had dropped a lot we felt.
I worked for celebrity cruises 30 years ago, had the privilege to travel to Alaska, South America, Hawaii , Caribbean, Canada and America, very hard work but enjoyed it, times were different then, only one restaurant, and I remember that you had to dress up every night to dine, food was amazing, good old times, I’m glad I did it
The ships itself have changed with all those play gadgets on the ship that why they will never be enough space for sunbathing up on deck - the ships are getting bigger but space for passengers are still not any better
Curious about something. Have you only ever travelled on American cruises before as that is how you come across? Oh apart from everything else I hope you realise much of American food is over sweetened and over seasoned. So I will take those comments on the food with a pinch of salt (pun intended). I will cruise but not on such a big ship. Not sure why anyone on such a big boat would think everything would be perfect.
Regarding the shoes and the ropes course, they rejected Nat because her shoes lack the traction and grip that tennis shoes provide. The shoes she wore aren't safe because she could slip and become seriously injured
I agree. The attitude to this annoyed me. It came across as self entitled. This sort of info for any cruise is pretty basic. Learn before you go. Don't blame the cruise line for protecting themselves.
@@cazgreene3055 Probably. When I was younger I put too much salt on food. Very different now. If I cook for others I put less rather than more as that suits most tastes. I have salt and pepper on the table so they can always add more. In the US so much processed food is full of this corn syrup and many additives. The bread tastes like cake I have been told. Going on a European line if used to American cruise lines of course you are going to taste a difference if used to food from the US. your palate would be so used to high seasoning and sweetness. Myself I would likely not go on a US ship as food is a big part of it and I doubt to my taste. I might live on salads, not a bad thing as I love a decent salad, as long as could add my own seasoning. I see some of the food on videos and I get sugar overload just watching 😆
We loved our cruise on MSC, cause we like the differences! Everything you experienced on this cruise, could have happened on any other cruiseline! When you put your vaction into someone's hands you gota expect things may not go your way, or the way you desire! MSC should have appologized for the comments about leaving you, but then you should have gone to customer service immediately to get it! The ships clearance upon entering port to let passengers off is up to the port, not the ship, but they should have told you there were delays! The reason the MSC cruises in America are different than the MSC cruises in the Med is because you're getting a different experience! All the Med cruises are mostly the same, cause all the companies in the Med are taking care of mostly European cruisers who expect things differently than American cruisers!
I could never travel on a cruise ship like that.. TOO MANY PEOPLE! It would be like spending 24/7 in a super mall doing last minute Christmas shopping. MADHOUSE!
Omg as I scroll through the comments I was just thinking the exact same thing! Stuff of nightmares. And if anyone remotely cares, the thought of all the diesel needed to power that thing, polluting the sea and air, and all the food waste, shampoo, soap and poop offloading into the sea is disgusting.
I totally agree! I've not had any desire to go on a cruise. All the crowds & chaos is not for me. And I've heard horror stories of people quarantined with virus on ships. Probably doesn't happen often but only takes once if it's you.
We have been on 7 MSC cruises (Caribbean/Mexico) and really enjoyed them all. The thermal spa on Seaside was fabulous. When we went their prices were just so much more affordable than other cruise lines that it was a no-brainer. The delay with getting off at ports may not have been their fault. They can't let anyone off until they are cleared by the port authority there. This was communicated to us when we sailed with them. But the fact that the time was wrong on the app was a huge mistake on their part. Yikes!
After watching this review I definitely don't want to order MSC, absolutely cheap and messy experience. Thank you for sharing your experience, it lets people decide for themselves.
[1] While I understand your sentiments about this cruise-experience (e.g., when you realised that the ship was about to leave you behind when you were the last ones back to the ship), I think that the bigger lesson is to be better prepared and to ask about things even before you reach the ship. E.g., research ports of call and logistics and make extra provision for delays and contingencies (e.g., aim to be back on the ship at least ONE HOUR before sailing time) and never leave the really important details to doubt; ask BEFORE you leave the ship. . . .
I agree. Leaving just half an hour to spare, even if you had checked way to stressful. I understand a problem with the ap but perhaps use a bit more of human interaction. Lol
You guys are adorable! The trip from beginning to the end?? I WOULD LOOSE MY MIND!! What a nightmare Looks like Disneyland on a full capacity day! That music!!las Vegas night club.. I’m that’s a nogNO!! Your excursions look neat But I Thinking I would Hate cruising!! Thanks for sealing the deal for me! Never in a million years 🙌
I had a different experience on my MSC cruise. I really enjoyed it but I also left from Florida, and did the Caribbean tour, so maybe that was part of it. Communication was fine. Times were right. I loved the busy energy of the ship, and I loved meeting so many people from other countries. My only struggle was getting chairs by the pool, but we figured that whole thing out by day 2. lol! Thank you for sharing your experience though. It was lovely to see your port stops.
I cruised MSC for the first time last November. It’s ok and all the red flags you called out are valid. The only plus side is the price. I made a transatlantic 18 day cruise for $1400 plus a $500 onboard credit, so go for the ports and the price, don’t expect much of the cruise…
These are the reasons we always took Viking Cruises. We did both a river cruise and the same with the Mediterranean Cruise we took with Viking. Everything went smoothly, and we enjoyed both cruises.
I'm an experienced cruiser and enjoy watching lots of cruise channels.. M s c is one of the most no go cruise brands out there. They are a lot cheaper but you pretty much get what you pay for. We are set to cruise out of Rome for 10 days. Going to naples , Santerini, emphasis Turkey Athens, Greece, Messina ,Sicily Palma de miorca, ending up in Barcelona. How old is the brand new sky princess brand is exceptional. We will spend 7 days in Rome and 3 days in Barcelona. Then go to gurnada, Spain and fly to Paris, France, as well as Normandy. Our trip will be 30 days.. As you have learned, we will never cruise mSC
Lots of things I could review and comment on, but I want to say something else. You guys had A LOT going on the last month. From filming other videos, travel, tree crashing on your house, work schedules etc, you did a wonderful job editing the vlog. I don’t care if it took a month or was an hour long. Your hard work shows and I just simply wanted to say thank you. Don’t worry about anything - - your supporters are here for it. 🦞
You seriously just made me cry!!! 😭🥰 Thank you for your kind comment. Words can’t express how much they mean to me! 💗💗 So beyond grateful to have y’all in our lives!!!
I watch a lot of videos to live vicariously through other people. I really enjoy how you set your video up. It’s almost like I am along with you to see the good, the bad, and the ugly
The blandness and the unsweetened tastes were probably due to the additives, colourings, corn syrups, glucose-fructose syrup, dextrose ect added to food in the US. In pretty much all of Europe most of these things are not added, especially on cruise ship foods. You went on a family, Mediterranean, up all night, European cruise, where kids go everywhere with their parents, where bedtime is anytime and dinner is late. It's good to experience different cultures but nice to get home. A cruise excursion bus will always be waited on when you return, late or not, you won't be left behind😅 Good practice to carry your ID with you on holiday, especially going on and off a cruise ship. It's good to research and read everything you can. The staff will be used to every situation as it will have happened to others before. New follower here👋
We JUST got off the Grandiosa! Our experience was similar to yours… Terrible communication, emails, apps and receipts all contradicting each other before we left. We had the Aurea experience, which saved our vacation. We had a private sun deck and choose when we ate. Our trip was about taking our teenage boys travelling that wouldn’t kill me with logistics. The cruise served that purpose! I don’t think I’d take another cruise, we are not cruisers. A great summary of the MSC experience.
My husband and I got off Grandiosa a week ago. Luckily we had Aurea experience too. New ship 👏. Food just ok . Entertainment was great, though . It was crossing Brazil
We travel independently and always wondered about a cruise. So thank you for showing us it's SERIOUSLY something we would NEVER do. Its too crowded, too boisterous, with mediocre food choices, and it doesn't allow exploring the true heart of cities.
I came here to say the same thing. I’ve never cruised, but travel extensively. I’ve been toying with the idea of my first cruise. This video convinced me to not waste the money - mediocre food and corny, touristy activities.
I've never cruised either and the incidents that happened to Matt and Nat plus how little time they got to spend in the cities Vs how much time they were stuck on the boat is exactly what I imagine and why I never would book one. Just my personal preferences, I know I would hate it.
Nice video! We did a similar cruise on the Seashore a couple of weeks ago and 100% agree with all your comments. We still had a good time. We always bring our passport with us when we exit the ship. You never know what might happen.
Oh my!! I'm so sorry you all had to go through this when they were CLEARLY at fault.....and the way he addressed your husband as you all were boarding the ship was absolutely with an attitude. Thank you all so much for sharing this. I would be absolutely livid.
You should make up your own mind, Matt and Nat where on a marathon cruise, if they had problems with their cabin report don’t just complain about it to their viewers
[4] My main tip about these various activities and spaces on the cruiseship is to be observant about the particular rhythm of the cruise-ship/cruise-line/itinerary/region/profile of passengers for any cruise that you experience. E.g., you were on an Italian cruise-ship/cruiseline with a majority of Mediterranean passengers. Therefore, you could be prepared for the busiest times to be late at nights and the later reservation-times for everything, including breakfast. I would anticipate, for example, that (as you proved with your early morning one day, when you were the only ones in the lounge preparing to disembark the ship for a 7 a.m. docking) you would have the fewest people in the buffet-deck or the dining room when they first open for a particular meal-service. In other words, the secret to a better experience is not just being better prepared for, and more knowledgeable about, what you do and where you go, but also being better informed about WHEN to go to places on the ship (or ashore) and when is BEST to do certain activities (e.g. gyms are usually quietest early morning/sunrise, when most people are sleeping . . . and sunset/before dinner, when most people are in their rooms preparing for dinner and when early-sitting guests are already having dinner).
The long video was such a treat! Great job on the editing, Natalie! I appreciate all of the info and I was entertained by the two of you as usual. I've never cruised and it's not a high priority, but I still think it's interesting and fun to watch others cruise.
Awww thanks so much Kelli!! 💗🥰 Thank you for taking the time to watch the longer video & leave such a kind comment! 💗 It truly means more than you know! hahaha we don’t blame you for that! I think it’ll be a little bit before we cruise again! 🤣😜 haha
Took MSC on a Mediterranean cruise in 2019 and couldn't be happier. I was on the Seaview which departed from Barcelona. With ports at Ajaccio, Genoa, La Spezia, Civitavecchia, Cannes, Palma de Mallorca and returning to Barcelona. Did all my own excursions. They had embarkation times clearly posted with signs when you departed ship. They also put the daily calendar in your room so you knew exactly what was going on that day. I also used the app. There was never a day when I didn't know exactly when I had to be back on the ship. I took a train from Cannes to Monte Carlo and on my return to Cannes I didn't cut it close. Even had a little time to walk around Cannes when I returned. I went to Milan from Genoa. To Florence from La Spezia and Rome from Civitavecchia. Always a bit of gamble when taking trains on your own excursions but train service is very reliable in Europe. They always stress to you that they won't wait. It comes down to how many people are running behind. And if you take the ship sponsored excursions they will never leave without you because they are responsible. MSC was very good as far as disembarkations at the ports on time. Got off the ship rather quickly. I don't believe they offer a cruise anymore with all those specific ports but I could be wrong. To be able to see Milan, Florence, Cannes, Monte Carlo and Rome on one cruise is pretty good. It was my second time in Barcelona, Florence and Rome.
I cruised with MSC twice. I enjoyed it, especially the first one with Meraviglia. Besides the incidence with the app time, the other little inconveniences, they wouldn't have bothered me too much, almost at all. But I liked the fact that you two presented very detailed the pros and the cons, but I would never say: don't ever cruise with MSC, because it's not fair. I cruised also with Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian, but MSC Meraviglia was one of the best ones, in my opinion. 😊 Can't wait to see where you'll cruise in the future!
I cruises with MSC in November and didn't want to leave. The crew was amazing, the food was good, and the performances were outstanding. While the food isn't 5 star, I ate way too much. So i could only imagine how much worse it would be if the food was 5 star. You can't beat good service and friendly vibes, and I really appreciated that!
You guys I LOVED the long video! Huge fan of the extra content. Felt like a treat. So sorry that the cruise wasn’t better for y’all, but we enjoyed going along!! Nat, I loved the little added bit of your outfits and makeup routine! You could honestly post makeup videos/getting ready with you videos and I’d be all for it! Thank y’all for taking us along as always. ❤️🥰
Awwww you are the sweetest!! 😭🥰 Thanks for that! We were nervous no one was gonna watch an hour+ video! Haha Well we appreciate you being on this adventure with us! 🎉🥰 Oh really?! Well maybe I’ll have to sneak it into a video then! Haha thanks again so much for being awesome! Hope you have an amazing day! 💗💗💗
Thanks for being so direct and telling all. I doubt I would take an MSC cruise because they seem so frantic and cattle herdish. I'll take something more laid back if it might be more expensive. They have to cut corners somewhere, that probably explains the lack of facilities, entertainment and blandish food.
Just came across your channel. My wife and I are doing a 10 day Mediterranean cruise. LOVE your content, and your vibe! Please keep sharing your awesome content.
A great video! Thanks. We took an MSC cruise about 16 years ago, on the Musica, from Barcelona, return, for 10 nights. It was a New Year’s cruise that docked in Malaga, where my brother lived and the itinerary was chosen for that purpose. There were 1200 Italian, 800 German, a few French, Russian and 50 English-speaking passengers. The ship was beautiful, the itinerary fabulous, and the cruise horrendous. The crew was lovely (except for the concierge desk) and incredibly unhappy. Many jumped ship at the end of the cruise, including the assistant cruise director! We had to surrender our passports, unexpectedly, at the beginning of the cruise - a minion threw ours into an open drawer at the front desk, no receipt. I wondered if we would ever see them again. We were made to feel like reprobates for asking for wash clothes (“You Americans are ALWAYS asking for washclothes”, we Canadians were told.). The food was forgettable, but our fellow passengers beyond rude, butting into the buffet lines, stealing chairs, yelling, even taking our bus seats between stops on excursions after moving our stuff to less desirable seats. We were befriended by the senior American Armed Forces personnel spending the holidays with their families, and they were wonderful. The New Year’s party, spent anchored in the Bay of Gibraltar, was a drunk fest on the main deck. The next morning, we witnessed the crew shovelling hundreds of broken glasses into the sea. The butting-in in the buffet lines was so out of control, one of our American friends discovered that, if he put his breakfast or lunch knife under his plate with the blade exposed, he could actually make it through the line relatively unimpeded. Communication was terrible. English speakers were treated with contempt by the entertainment crew. We were put on shore excursions with French, German and assorted speakers, but we all felt our “talks” were given short shrift. It became something of a joke. Luckily, we are experienced cruisers, and educate ourselves before embarking, so knew what to expect - except for the camel ride on Arrecife…Then, at the end of the cruise, as I supected, we were asked for the “receipt” we were NOT given before we could retrieve our passports. That did not go over well. It seems from your video, things have not much improved. Of our 30+ cruises, pre-COVID, our experience on MSC was surpassed for awfulness by only one, on Seabourn. Those are two cruise lines, on quite different spots on the spectrum, we recommend avoiding.
I agree 100 per cent with you. Few Americans and few English speaking cruisers. Msc is nàsty. Pushing, screaming, yelling people. The Italians were worse. Just awful. I have a cane and was pushed aside when elevator door opened. Could wait 1 minute. At the buffet. Pushing, shoving, line cutting. When carrying my tray, people walked so close to me that I thought I was going to drop. I finally used my cane as revenge. Try to push me aside, I put my cane out to trip. I left cruise after 3 days..9 day cruise. I had enough.i am a retired flight attendant and I've had enough of bs when flying, I don't need it now. No more msc
@@barbaracameron5610 We were seated at dinner between a French couple and German family with two daughters, about 9 and 11. Our 15-year-old daughter was with us. In conversation with our French co-passengers, they indicated their dissatisfaction with the cruise in similar terms as ours. On the other side, silence, even amongst family members. The daughters were seated beside us. Thet seemed fascinated by us, maybe because we were engaged with each other. Our daughter started performing little tricks for them, like flipping a coin, and balancing a spoon on her nose. I showed them I could turn my fingers into a galloping horse. My husband could make a coin disappear. Not a word was spoken, but the little girls were delighted. The next evening, their parents were seated beside us, intentionally keeping their children away from our intemperate (?) influence. In contrast, the Italian children were running rampant through the restaurant at 9:00 pm, tripping the waiters, screaming and fighting. And Europeans think North Americans are uncouth!
That's an unusual cruise with people getting on and off the ship at every port. It is almost like a ferry. Your video came up in my recommendations and when I saw it is over 1 hour long, I almost did not want to click on it but you guys are entertaining and great on camera, conversational, relaxed, combined with professional editing, I watched from beginning to end. Great video!
Hello? It is normal to sail at night and to be able to explore a port in the daytime. And two days on the sea on a seven days cruise would be a "no go" for me 😉
@Patrice C. That's so people dont have to fly across Europe to catch a cruise. In the Carrabian, no one from US is going to fly to St Lucia or one of the smaller islands to catch a cruise at a halfway point so everyone goes to Mami or Ft Lauderdale ...
Thank you for posting your MSC experience. We are looking at MSC and have a few questions. 1) It looks like you were the only passengers who almost missed the ship. Were there additional passengers, who depended on the app, to arrive late as well? 2) Did the late gangway deployment happen multiple times or just once? 3) Regarding your ballet shoes, we like to travel very lightly as well. Did MSC specifically require "closed toed sneakers" or were you hoping they would let you participate in the activity with ballet shoes that did not fall off your feet? Any information you could provide will be very much appreciated. Thank you and safe travels.
My first time watching their videos. My impression is don’t be upset if your shoes don’t meet their requirements. Safety rules there for a reason. That’s on you, not them. Second…. I wasn’t impressed by the smiley smiley cutesy crap. She’s trying too hard and he isn’t much better. Both think they’re cute as pie. Oh, and quit chewing with your mouth open, Nat. Emma Cruises is much better imo. She gives an honest review without the ….. extras.
So sorry for what you had experienced....but I was with MSC at least dozen times..and I had never had experienced like you did.......it’s was always a pleasure being with MSC...I went twice with Bellissima....and last month...I was with MSC World Europa....for Med Cruise....so , for me, I can’t complain....
I can relate to you guys. Unfortunately my sisters and I were left behind on a Carnival Cruise!!! They never did take responsibility yet paid for our trip back to the ship. I am done cruising - can't trust the management & website...Thanks for your honesty on here.
I appreciate your honesty about your experience. That was crazy that they were about to leave you guys on the dock! Glad you guys made it on and for showing the real experience even though it’s sucks in the moment
When you have checked out at the security at the exit there is always a big PRINTED information: "All guests back on board .... (time)". And yes, they wait maybe half an hour - or more if a tour bus is delayed - and then they leave. 🤷
Not if you're on a ship's excursion. Unless there are extreme circumstances, in which case most of the time you are flown to the next port. @@hansgustaf540
@@amyw5647 Matt explained this to me in his answer to my comment. As I never rush off with the first people I always see the infos for leaving passengers 😉
I use to Cruise often. Then I found out that “most ships dump illegally (Trash into the Ocean )”😮 Last Cruise I was on headed to Grand Cayman Islands. We actually seen all the trash behind the ship late at night. It was Very Upsetting to say the least. I will not mention names but the ships are in the top 5 top cruise ships in the industry. We don’t go on Cruises anymore!! We still travel the World 🌍 by Sailboat ⛵️
First one of your RU-vids for me. Absolutely loving it! Love your vibe, you guys look like you have a great relationship. Totally agree with all your points. Safe travels as always!
Exactly! If the app was unreliable there’d be at least a few other passengers that used this same app who arrived late, thinking they had plenty of time.
Nat you were cracking me up when in the elevator trying to kick your shoes off. I’m terrified of cruise ships so had to watch. Immagonna stick with trains, planes, and automobiles. Love you guys!!
My husband and I are avid cruisers. We went on MSC Divina back in 2014 for a Carribbean cruise and were disappointed with the staff and found them very snobby and the crew were not trained well. It's sad to hear that all these years later they have not gotten any better. The only 1 positive experienced we had was the food was very good, that's it. I appreciate your honest review it confirms my decision not to take this cruise line again.
You went to Valencia and exactly what paella did you eat? That looked like rice with prawns. Valencian paella does not have seafood it had chicken and /or rabbit.
BEAUTIFUL COUPLE who make no a no holds barred, unbiased assessment of their experiences re. MSC. Whatever your own personal views and experiences of this cruise line , I have to say they reflect many of my own opinions . Many will have had more positive experiences I'm sure but these guys tell it as it is and certainly as I have found MSC. Would I personally recommend MSC? well yes for first timers but for experienced cruisers who have never used MSC before ? No ! Dave Taylor ... 16 cruise veteran and brit living in Malaga Spain . My advice ? unless you need a departure from Malaga and are willing to depart from Barca or ports in Italy ... Try Celebrity or NCL .
You had so many funny moments in this video. My favorite was Matt's face drinking the ice water, and your foot kicking dance in the elevator. I was cackling away over here. 😂 I am glad all the annoying things that happened during the cruise didn't take away from making another fabulous video, and checking off more of your 1000 places to see before you die ❤
Awwww thanks so much girl!! We appreciate you taking the time to watch & comment! Means more than you know! 🥰💗 bahahahaha nothing like ice water after a hot day exploring 🤣 & bahahaha 🤣🤦🏼♀️ They should’ve let me on the high ropes course cuz those ballet flats weren’t coming off! Bahaha 🤣 Awww thanks girl! You know us, we’ll always try to make the best of it!! Thanks again!! 💗💗💗
Good walking shoes would have been a better choice. All the town walking is tough. I made the same mistake on our honeymoon in Europe. Blisters galore!!!
The foot kicking dance in the elevator and Matt hyping her up with the " look at her go" had me laughing out loud and rewinding to watch over again!! Such a fun and lovely couple!!! I love watching the two of you on your adventures!! Thank you for taking us along!! ❤️❤️❤️
This video was so well done! Didn't get bored for a minute. Really appreciate your honesty, as it helps others decide which lines to travel with and which ones to be wary of. I've been on most of the other lines and was considering an MSC cruise. Not any more. Thank you.
We've taken 4 msc cruises out of Miami & swore we'd never ever use anyone EXCEPT MSC because our 4 separate 7 night cruises were absolutely fabulous! I'm wondering if the different is just country of origin. I've traveled all over the world & know the different standards expected make difference. We're taking our 1st Norwegian out of Miami in 2 weeks & nervous we won't like it. And honestly the ONLY reason we're not using msc is because Norwegian was free for us so we figured why not? 🤷🏻♀️ so I'd say give them a shot stateside & you'll be pleased. As far as the balcony is concerned, I never have & never will cruise without one. It's a total game changer! We always order a bottle of bubbly for embarkation day & drink it as the ship leaves port on the balcony before getting ready for dinner. What other cruise lines have yall tried to compare to msc? We've loved them so much I refuse to spend money on another in fear we won't like it as much. But sounds like the Mediterranean idea on msc might not be as good. I do know, most countries I've been, I've found they aren't as friendly as us Tennessee folks. I always know half the ship by the end of the cruise😂😂😂
The US cruise is more straight forward but the European cruises for MSC is very different. Some cruises, they have people boarding and getting off at every port. There is a huge difference between the US and Europe cruise.
@Sun shine yeah in all my travels, I've come to realize different countries & different regions of the world is that every country isn't the same. That includes manners & all. We were raised in the south so its always be kind. Yes ma'am, no sir, hold doors open for others, talk to strangers, etc. Everywhere we go, we're used to not getting what we do but we know everyone wasn't raised like us. Even the staff in different countries aren't the same as America cause Americans tip. They know they have to be kind coming out of US ports if they want that extra money 💰 🤑
My hubs and I did the maiden voyage of the Harmony of the Seas (Royal) from Southport England to Barcelona, Spain and loved it! I really want to try an MSC cruise but think if we do, we’ll take one out of here in Florida to test it out. 😮
@Wonderful World Of Wendy we've taken 4 out of Miami with MSC & loved them. Doing our 1st Norwegian Sunday out of Miami. It'll be interesting to see the difference cause I was always so pleased with msc. But we got this one free, just pay taxes, so we're trying them out.
@@theRovingVets I hope it’s not the Norwegian Sky! I was on that one for a cousin’s 50th and it’s an old cargo ship converted to a cruise ship & just meh. On the other hand.. I went on the Norwegian Pearl for 3 nights on a girls trip a few years before the Sky and loved it! 😊
Yeah, agreed...great room, great vlog, lousy cruiseliner....You guys ROCK❤ Weird thing, when we took a MSC cruise erm, 10 years ago...yep....IT WAS FABULOUS....everything was absolutely on track. The balcony rooms all came with a frikin BUTLER and the whole ship smelt sooooo good (Aromatherapy throughout) and the food was really good, tasty, fresh, much more choices at the buffet...But we did have the screaming mic at the pool thing...Guess that was then...and this is now😮💨
I am a new subscriber and I must say that you guys are such a beautiful, fun, caring, loving and adventuresome couple. I am so incredibly sorry with the mix-up of the timing of your return back to the ship after when you visited Barcelona! It's amazing how corporations actually take no responsibility, feel no guilt and never apologize when they make mistakes but you would have been left if you didn't make it on their mispublished time. We are with you in spirit and follow every single moment with you applauding you every minute!!!
I took a western MSC cruise prior to the pandemic in September/ October 2019. Yes, I found it different that each port passengers disembarked and embarked. It was 7-days and 7- ports. No days at sea.. A beautiful ship, Seaview.. it was a cultural diverse cruise with passengers from all over Europe. happy to see you guys enjoying the same book I have, 1000 places to see before I die.. I love your content…..❤
Just came off a Caribbean cruise with MSC in March. 1 hour line to get checked in and into the ship, where we were greeted by a strong smell of sewage. We felt the food in the main dining was just okay, I did enjoy the buffet but it was extremely busy! Also, I could barely use my drink package because it was nearly impossible to get anyone to serve us because of so many people in the bar area!! The shower area was extremely small. I couldn't even pick up any item that fell as i could not bend over. In the cabin, there was trash inside the trash can on my first day and i wondered if other things that i can't tell, had not been cleaned. Some of the workers were rude. I felt a little PTSD also. I won't do it again either!
I am so happy to see people who have no idea what a cruise is like say they will never do one. That just makes it better for those of us who know the ropes of cruising.
We know our own minds thankyou. People are different. Being enclosed on a ship with crowds just does not appeal. It makes ME happy to watch these cruise bloggers and feel grateful I take my vacations on dry land.
Thats why I always do the ship connected bus tours, they don't leave without you, but if you do private tours or on your own, you Must Be back On Time!!
Agree with this sooo much. I've cruised over 48 times on over 11 cruise lines. Sailed with MSC 3 times, twice in Europe and once in the United States. Lack luster entertainment, low grade food choices, and overtly rude staff and customer service...
In Europe people don’t typically eat dinner until 7 or 8… hence the shifted late schedule. We live in France for next couple years and was real shocker most restaurants don’t open until 7.
It must have been pretty upsetting to realize that you were almost left. I watch a lot of cruise videos and almost every vlogger stresses the importance of double checking the departure time with staff (or clearly posted signage) when departing the ship. Yours is an example of why this is so important. It also points out the challenges of any Mediterranean cruise, the ports aren’t always very near the cities.
We are with you on this, took a caribbean cruise with MSC back when they first started sailing out of FL, think it was around 2015, got a killer deal on an 8 day cruise with a balcony upgrade and it was the first cruise we did not enjoy. ship was too crowded, food was bland, service was good though. Even though with a big discount we decided that our first MSC cruise, would also be our last, we will stick with Princess, we like them much better. One difference with us is that we determined that the balcony was a waste, spent almost no time out on it, if offered a free upgrade on cruises in the future we would take one, but we would not actually pay extra to have a balcony.
I've never been on a cruise and have never wanted to go on one. I love your very honest delivery about the pros & cons of your experiences on this one. Thanks a lot.
I’m so sorry you had that horrible, uncalled for experience . Did you notify the cruise line company when you got back to the states? They definitely need to be aware so no one else has that same horrible experience. The way you both handled it was remarkable. On the bright side you looked like you had a marvelous time at the ports of call. This vlog was so good. I loved that it was so long and detailed. Natalie you did a fantastic job with the editing. You and Matt are so much fun to to watch and give such GREAT information. Can’t wait to see where your adventures lead you next.
Thanks for taking the time to watch & write such a thoughtful comment! You know that’s a good point, I don’t even know who we would reach out to, to do that. But I sure do hope that it doesn’t happen to other people! That was such an awful feeling. 🤦🏼♀️ YESS!! The ports are what made the trip so fantastic! Lol awww thank you soo much! You’re gonna make me cry! Haha That truly means so much more than you know! 😭🥰 We were nervous no one would want to watch an hour+ video so that is sweet of you to say!! 💗💗💗
I literally can feel the frustration with MSC!! This happened to us 4 weeks ago and they take no accountability for the wrong! I will never cruise with the ago…
I also agree compared to other cruise lines MSC falls way short. I have done the long relocation cruises a few times from Italy to South Africa. Each time the service and offerings got worse. The food is particularly poor. We paid for the wine package and for the last 4 days there was none left...tough..they underordered and its our problem ?.... We were always met with attitude when we made any negative comments. Our cruising days with MSC are finished , sorry guys !
Yeah at our agency we stopped booking clients on MSC cruises. Too many logistical issues and the crew not helping or is just super rude. Until they figure these things out there's so many other cruise lines. Love the vid. So funny.😅😅😅
[2] I also think that it was a big mistake to go off by yourselves in places/ports/countries that you had never visited and in languages that you did not speak. Bottom line: expect things to go wrong (be it airlines, cruiselines, taxis, trains, buses, etc.) and use official excursions of the cruiseline. That latter tip is the only assurance that any passenger has of not being left behind if something goes wrong. Furthermore, it ensures that you are accompanied by persons who know the language(s), the place(s), the route(s), and have constant communication links to the cruiseship and local agents for any emergencies.
Great Video :) I have cruised MSC 6 times and overall enjoy them (few main dining room options hit or miss). The all aboard time on the app is wrong and definitely a bad issue for MSC to not update it and the staff being rude about it is not good at all (although sometimes europeans are very direct and don't mean to be as rude as they come off), but as far as the schedule being 30/45 minutes off in the morning this issue is usually not always controllable and not always the fault on the cruise line as sometimes the port its docking in does not always give the go ahead to allow passengers off at the time indicated, or the ship arrived later than expected so getting things organised to get everyone off can be more difficult, this issue usually occurs a lot more in europe than in the carribean, although it can be annoying if you have an excursion or flight booked it happens on many cruise lines (or at least in my experience I have had it on NCL too) not just MSC. Hopefully it didn't ruin the cruise too much for you guys!!
I hope MSC does not take the bait and give this couple a refund. One of the pet peeves was having to put their card in the slot to turn on the electricity.
I feel you Matt! I have been there before. So upset that your voice shakes and blood pressure is through the roof! I was feeling every bit of your pain bro. Great job guys on the episode!
Bro... I was fuming! Lol... Glad you get it though! It was SUCH a stressful experience. As the thumbnail says... Never again! Lol... Thanks so much for watching!
First time watching your videos and it was so well edited. I love the maps! You both were very entertaining and I enjoyed the quick synopsis of each of your port stops. My one issue is after you were almost left behind through no fault of your own, everything else was seen so negatively. Even the fact they wouldn’t let Natalie do the ropes course although it was obviously not MSC fault she didn’t have the right footwear. I understand the emotional turmoil, I’ve cruised plenty and had some close calls almost being left behind (in Naples port coming from the Amalfi coast). I can even understand not particularly liking the fact the announcements were in multiple languages (although most ppl that do research know this in the first 5 min), the fact the food was sub par, and the up selling (which is also very common knowledge). But after your PTSD moment, I believe you both checked out IMO.
I'm not sure why you just trusted your App. Getting left behind is such a traumatic experience I would have imagined you would have had the time of departure (or last boarding) confirmed on board.
I agree 100% and came here to say just that. This is the first video of theirs I've watched - everything seemed to be going along just fine until almost getting left behind (of no fault of theirs) but afterwards a lot seemed negative. Up-selling is a common situation on all cruises, not real sure how that can cause them PTSD, especially if they've been on other cruises. I also agree that they shouldn't have gotten upset because they were not allowed to do the rope climbing while she was wearing ballet shoes. 😮🤦🏼♀️ They never really complained about the food until after their near miss of getting left behind as well - then, almost every meal seemed less than desirable.
We almost had a disastrous vacation due to MSC's communication problems. I spent one whole day at sea, that was suppose to be restful, trying to get permission to disembark at Mykonos as they told us, when I called before we departed, that we could. We had to go to Immigration in Mykonos to get things straightened out. VERY STRESSFUL! I was only out a few hundred dollars on a hotel and a ferry that I had to cancel, but it was almost thousand dollars. The balcony was good, while the food was very lacking flavor and substance. No more cruising for us. Keep up your good work. I am enjoying following you guys. 🙃
Took our first cruise on MSC and it was chaos from start to finish . Thousands of people lined up to get off on one gangway, while the other gangway was functional but closed, it felt like we were cattle. The food was below pare , and charging for water in the dining room was just petty. The staff were often just so rude when asking questions of them.. I also found that they lacked organization
Thanks so much for your excellent videos. I am from Texas & have been on almost 50 cruses but never sailed with MSC. Now I am thankful I did not waste my money on a sub par cruise line! Can't wait to watch your in-depth city cruises videos you mentioned! God bless you both for sharing your experiences!
You don’t take other people’s experiences to make a decision, you should try it yourself, look at the other comments from viewers they loved their experience with MSC - don’t just be a follower or a sheep experience it yourself first hand
I gotta say, the balcony is good if you want special time with your loved one. But sitting in the hot tub with a drink and seeing the amazing view of the ocean was definitely much more fun!
This was so fun to watch, thank you! Although I’m sorry you were treated that way with them almost leaving you behind…that is my worst nightmare when we cruise, I super stress about getting back to the ship on time at ports. I think you guys were fair in your rating and you didn’t discount the entire cruise line. Who knows, maybe the Caribbean one would be great! Language barriers definitely impact a lot. I’ve cruise Royal about 6 times, but have taken a Carnival (never again) and a Disney about 15 years ago. It’s funny you mentioned music at the pool deck, I highly recommend looking into an 80’s Cruise, usually it’s a Royal ship that is commissioned and their staff is always amazing. They even do Star Trek cruises, lol, so you know the Royal staff gets to see the best of everything 😂. You get concerts literally every day, the food is stellar, and the ships are fun - lots to do and concerts at the pool all day long. I know you guys are young but 80’s doesn’t suck lol…anyway, I appreciate your channel and I love your style, Nat! Thank you for everything you guys do!
Awww thank you so much for watching!!! 🥰 We appreciate you taking the time to watch & write such a thoughtful comment. Yeah it wasn’t the most fun! Bahaha 🤣🤦🏼♀️💀🥵🚫 ahh We do love Royal! Have never done a Disney one! Ohhhh that sounds like an absolute blast!! We love 80’s music?! I mean who doesn’t?! Haha 🎉👌🏼 That would be a fun time to film! Haha thanks so much for your kind words! They mean so much more than you know! 🥰
