I couldn't watch the whole thing, but that snowman was cool! Those speakers must REALLY have been hidden, because I didn't see them. That flame thing? Yikes! OK, you've told us about all the gadgets -- I'm sure you've had issues with devices not wanting to work when you want them to, with wires, connections and lights going haywire! Would love to hear about that! I mean, I just had an issue with a mic shorting out during a recording session, and that's small stuff compared to what you've got going there. (It's no wonder your hair is white. 😛)
Well - we do a show report each day that details exactly what went wrong, and so far, something has gone wrong each show. The obvious issues with radio mics - always a moment about one dying, spluttering, being muffled or being moved too far from the corner of the mouth. Today everyone had a whine in the headsets. We get fluffed notes from the band, occasionally, the wrong click track - we have a lot of play-off - very short versions and accidentally moving forward to one of those that suddenly stops is horrible. We have had lights having a little party on their own, others that move slower than expected - we have had back cloths go further in (down) rather than out, (up). We had a small fire when a pyro ember smouldered and then flamed. We have had a magic apple refuse to decend, and smoke machines get stuck on. We've had people come to stage without the mic, and have to run back to get it. We have had costume malfunctions including one person getting theirs stuck on a protrusion and leaving half the costume on stage. The rolls rose car came unhinged, a scooter that crashed into the set for real and it goes on. We are only on show 9 today!
@@pauljohnson4590 Hahahaaaa. Yeah, I've encountered the issues with wireless mics. I wasn't the tech person, but I had a cast member complain about the mic not working, but it was up on his forehead! 😛 The tech guy saw me explain it, and came by later and said "Welcome to my world!"
I’ve got a dual role. I’m in charge of all things technical so I manage the people doing sound, lighting, scenery, special effects. I’m also the person who looks after the cast. So if everything goes smoothly then I shouldn’t have anything to do. Trouble is, it never does. Today I’ve sorted pay queries, sourced repair parts. Recorded SPL at a location I’ve identified as oddly loud. I’ve processed a grands worth of petty cash from my account. Sorted catering for later, annoyed the director and I’m currently dealing with a recording for copyright payments and validation. My bosses just say make it happen. Then they leave me alone for six weeks! My title is company manager or historically company stage manager but the deputy stage manager actually runs the show. I’m currently sorting out the understudy’s. It’s like a combined management/practical role. Some who do it don’t do the technical part, I do both.
I might be able to put some short bits together - the problem is RU-vid already spotted the little bit of music in this video - so , it may be tricky - I'll have a think.
