No Magic Pagoda here. In case you don’t know, the Magic Pagoda was a funhouse type attraction that included a mirror maze, optical illusions, and some talking Buddha. It now gets used for one of the Fright Fest’s haunted houses.
I remember them all. Except I don’t recall riding the Dragon. I think they took it out in 1980. It was one of those rides that made it up and down the hill. Like the funicular, which is still there!
I was born in 72 and my grandparents would take us in the 70s/80s. I miss the Spillikans corner (craft corner) and transportation (sky ride, train, and monorail) that made getting around the park easier, (and family friendly)
Spillikans Corner! I believe that was way up where Apocalypse and West Coast racers is now and where Psychone was and what used to be Psyclone Bay. It kinda reminded me of Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town area you know, with all the craftsmanship vendors?
@@iselabermudez5110 Metro has been gone for quite some time now. But the tracks were left up for over a decade. Most are gone but there are still some remains that are hidden. One of the tunnels is being used by Full Throttle now.
@@ThemeSeekers That was the one from Great Adventure. However, the running joke at Silverwood is Aftershock is the "devil coaster," simply because it has some restrictions on it like weather/ temperature/ wind speed/ etc.... BUT when it's open at Silverwood, get in line ASAP.
Living in SoCal except for a few years after college when I moved for work, I've ridden just about every ride in the park at some point. I rode every one of these except for Green Lantern. It felt like it was here and gone in just a blip. I also remember Z-Force, Shockwave, and the Serajevo Bobsleds. I haven't ridden Twisted Colossus yet, but I have great memories of the original Colossus. Truly don't make them like that anymore. Deja Vu was fun, but not exceptional. Psyclone was a lot of fun. Must have ridden it in the early years, because I don't remember it being that rough. I remember one time I was at the park near closing time, and there was a group of people, including myself, who kept getting off the ride and then right back on, since there was no one else in line. Psyclone was near the back of the park, and the hoi polloi were filtering towards the exit. After about 3 times of us getting off and heading right back through the entrance, the ride attendants started just asking us if we wanted to go again. Got to ride about 5 more times in a row before the park closed and we really had to get off. Log Jammer was a classic, and I always tried to give it a ride every time I was at the park. Freefall I only went on a few times. It had the virtue of being one of the first drop towers, and I appreciated how it moved the game forward, but the way it worked was a little rough. Flashback was a complete and total piece of junk. I went on it once. I came out feeling like I had gone a few rounds with a prize fighter. I can count on one hand the number of coasters I've ridden that I came out with a headache, and that thing was one of them. There was a reason they told people to take their earrings out before riding. During its early development, it might have been originally designed to soften up people before interrogation. Just the worst.
Only went to SFMM in 1998. Log Jammer was a must re-ride and blew Splash Mountain and Knotts log ride out of the water (pun intended). Psyclone was 4 yrs post "earthquaked" and very painful then. It was my first SFMM coaster that day and the headache it caused was not fun! Flashback was ridden after lunch (that one popular burger joint that closed awhile ago...?)...not a great decision, Psyclones headache was much worse😂
Remember the bridge on tidal wave that was right above the end of the drop would get you soaked !! It was great for hot summer days to just get freshened up
I most definitely do. That was a really fun experience. It was simple and enjoyable. I remember getting on it once along with a group of people that kept shouting at someone named Frank who was not on the ride. Turns out, Frank talked all of them into going on the ride, then chickened out in line, so he was waiting by the exit. Once we heard that, everyone on the ride starting taunting ol' Frank throughout. Good times. 😆
I rode all of these. Some of these like Log Jammer, Free Fall and Deja Vu I miss. Flashback and Psyclone, not so much. You should make a part two which includes rides like Shockwave and Spin Out and Serajevo Bobsleds.
Even though the park itself opened in 1971, Six Flags took ownership 8 years later in 1979, up until then it was simply called "Magic Mountain ". SeaWorld and The Newhall Land and Farming company forged a partnership that brought the park to life.
But Colossus is still with us! Its spirit still lives in Twisted Colossus. It wasn’t demolished , but merely rebuilt and reborn. If I had my way Colossus would have been given a complete restoration to its original and former glory complete with the double camelback hills but I would rather see it transformed than completely demolished.
I miss Log Jammer, Freefall, and the OG Colossus. Not so much Flashback, which was more like Whiplash, or Deja Vu, which really hurt with the seat jamming up into the man zone lol
Does anyone remember the ride near. bugs Bunny world with a closed slide and small blue rafts you held onto-think it had a water element? It wasn’t in hurricane harbor, it was definitely at Magic Mountain
@@ThemeSeekers remove the theater that they haven’t used seriously since the mid 80s and build an Intamin flume ride like Chiapas or a Mack like Dudley Do Right.
Log Jammer should NEVER have closed. It should have remained open just like Jet Stream. SFMM is a hot park during the summer, and a few good get soaked to cool down rides is what the park needs. They could have EASILY put Full Throttle in a different location and it would have been fine, it was just laziness in my opinion.
I rode all these at one point as a kid, moved out of California in 1997 and went back for a visit about 6 years ago with my own kids and went to Magic Mountain while we were there. I was very disappointed to see some of these rides no longer exist, especially log jammer because of the nostalgia associated with it. Green Lantern was there when we went and I gotta agree it was a rough ride, it was fun but it really felt like it was trying to throw you out of your seat. I do miss the original Colassas, but one reason for the change and its conversion was it had caught fire and deemed too expensive to repair to its original state, don't believe the fire was mentioned in this video as part of the reasonings.
I generally find the front seat of coasters to be overrated. Except Deja Vu. The front seat on that ride was a completely different experience than anything else and that was what really took that ride to the next level. With that said though, Colossus was probably the best wooden roller coaster I've ever ridden even to this day so it's a tough call which is the most missed to me. Green Lantern didn't open until after I moved away and I haven't been back there since and Shockwave and Psyclone weren't that great for me so it's one of those two
