I can't believe RU-vidr Andy completely randomly cameo'd in this with his famous trademark articulation! No doubt this will be remembered as a classic RU-vid moment in years to come.
And he has voices in a BUNCH more games: He voices in Bendy and Ink Machine/the Dark Revival (Shawn Flynn), Vacation Simulator, Monster Prom Series (Calculester + others) [which has a BUNCH of YTers], Pinstripe (also has PewDiePie), River City Girls 2, and at least a few others.
Let's not forget a much smaller RU-vid channel that needs more love that also got a brief cameo in Subnautica as well. That being the Neebs Gaming crew, who show up as a cameo in a voice log on the big ship giving you a code for a door on said ship, leading you to get the blueprints needed for the escape ship. The voice cameos being of Apprso with Neebs in the background asking about what sandwich he wants.
Everytime ProZD, Gianni Matragrano, or PM Seymour show up in a game (or anime in the latter's case) I somehow manage to forget all of them are indeed professional VAs by trade and their voice takes me out for a minute. Special shoutouts to Gabriel Ultrakill for knocking me unconscious the second I recognized his voice.
Gianni also played the main character in indie game Endoparasitic, a character who gets everything except his -left- right arm ripped off his body in the intro. Very talented VA
Don't forger Baldur's Gate 3! The Sharran tiefling Nocturne, Shadowheart's one childhood friend in the cult, is played by Abigail "PhilosophyTube" Thorn. In this case though, the cameo is less distracting than it is lovely, especially since there are some interesting parallels between actor and character
Another hilarious Game Grumps cameo is in House Party. In a video game where the entire purpose is to sleep with as many people as you can, I was not expecting Arin and Dan 😂 It’s more than just a cameo too, you use a radio to crash their hot air balloon into the backyard party you’re at. It becomes an entire quest and while it’s super distracting and doesn’t fit the tone of the game at all it made me laugh, which is definitely the developers goal with this game.
The hitman devs should really consider putting the oxbox guys into their next game. Edit - apparently they already are in the game. This is fantastic news.
@@WinterMeadows3141 They were. Outside Xbox had a challenge video where they found and killed them all (except Johnny because custom contracts didn't allow that many targets).
The contract @@SilverEye91 mentioned is called The Envase Exclusion, made by Mike. It's actually a really neat contract. Can recommend playing it and their video on it.
It may be _too_ obvious, and not really immersion-breaking, but I was definitely startled to hear the voice of actor and RU-vidr Felicia Day, creator of the web-series _The Guild,_ as Fallout:NV companion Veronica. (She's had a number of other VA roles since, but that one surprised me.)
Came to comment this. I don't recall being catapulted out of my immersion harder and faster than that particular cameo. I came to appreciate the character, and even the performance, but it was definitely an uphill climb to get there.
You should do one of these with "Distracting Celebrity Cameos", because JK Simmons as Cave Johnson had me in stitches so bad that I barely remembered I was playing a Portal game
Whenever JK Simmons is mentioned I say he’s the funniest actor. And people say “what’s your favourite role of his” and I always say “Cave Johnson, we’re done here”
I didn't know Arin was in DA: Inquisition!! I played the hell out of that game and had no idea! 😂 Also, Jacksepticeye was in Subnautica as well. I think you could get a little Sam in a jar that said "Top o' the mornin'!" Good video, Thanks!
Not a RU-vidr, but something similar, is how tightly integrated Art Bell in the original 2006 Prey was. Basically, playing his radio show straight in universe.
This is a more obscure game and RU-vidr, but Josh from Let’s game it out is a wanted man in Hydroneer. He has a habit of stealing stuff from the stores. So, they added a wanted sign for him in hopes he will turn himself in.
hearing one of my favourite youtube channels mention _and_ clip my _other_ favourite youtube channel (game grumpos), and even mention of my favourite shows, man it feels surreal XD like worlds are colliding.
I don’t know why, but when Andy was asked to do his catchphrase I was expecting “Alright, 5 stars! Silent Assassin!” …Yes, I’ve been rewatching too much 3 Ways To Play.
They didn't give Caddicarus a part in Oddworld? I recall he recorded lines for it, was super excited about it, is friends with the director. He has Abe's marks tattooed to the backs of his hands, a fact that earned him two steak dinners, i believe?
Fun fact: They also cameo with their DBZA voices in an episode of the Dragonball anime's dub. Specifically, there's a scene where the main characters watch a play based on the Cell Games arc and the actors are voiced by TeamFourStar, reprising their DBZA roles.
JackSepticEye was also in Bendy and the Ink Machine, which was pretty surreal. Halo 3 also had an Easter Egg with the Red Vs Blue cast that was different depending on game difficulty.
Neptunia Virtual Stars was a crossover no one asked for. And then there's the RU-vidrs who are professional voice actors like TeamFourStar who had player character voice options for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and ProZD who has been in a handful of games.
I am not good with recognizing voices. So, this was a treat, but I like to think that when Oxboxtra make their cameo debuts I’ll recognize them immediately.
I'm not sure if this counts, but in the platformer A Hat in Time, the youtube star Yungtown voices the Snatcher who is encountered in the Subcon Forest area.
The Jack one is funny because you chose the instance where when he got to the video in is own playthrough, he mentioned that every game that asks him to do VA work directs him to make his accent really thick.
Civvie 11 also voiced himself in Postal 4, selling crack pipes to Postal Dude while also insulting him to his core. Cancer Mouse, a glowing radioactive racist conspiracy theorist in Civvie's videos, also made a few cameos in different games (though minus the racist conspiracy theorist part). Also, it goes without saying, there's an entire DLC to House Party which includes the Grumps as characters with different results (including a D Club meeting getting a little out of hand!).
I'm glad to see my money is going to good use. They got The Andy Farrant...wow!! Gonna be kinda sad that one of them has to go with food for the month, but Andy Farrant? What a get.
Personally, I keep forgetting that the guys from Critical Role are also (nerdy ass) voice actors. Bumping into Liam O'Brein as a random NPC in Starfield was a bit of a surprise...
I remember in Battlefield 4 i was perched up on a cliffside scoped in and focused on the match. I got pulled out of my focus hearing Neebs screaming "promoted"
Man, Starfield's facial animation is *rough*. I think they've actually gone backwards from Skyrim, I never would have recognised BDG without the voice.
Uh...you're not supposed to recognize the voice actor from the facial animation? But yes, it's pretty rough animation. Technically better than skyrim, but at least that was ancient enough that it was charming.
@@mcbellyman3265 Often times it's the other way around though A character gets designed, and an actor is chosen who happens to look like the character How would a character sound if not how someone who looks like them IRL? You're absolutely right about the cases like Keanu in Cyberpunk, or Kojima's weird thing with movie actors
They’re not direct cameos, but in Need For Speed 2015, a few races are named after famous RU-vidrs. Drift Like a Panthaa was named after BlackPanthaa, CJ-Tastic was named after Craptastic Jack, and there are a few others that I don’t remember. There’s a video that goes through almost all of them, with interviews from the RU-vidrs mentioned in-game, and I think the former community manager for Ghost.
Anyone remember Violet Berlin, one of the presenters of the UK TV show 'Games Master' in the 90s? There was a period where she claimed to have the record for the most number of cameos in games, which included things like a walk-on role in Gabriel Knight 2's FMV and a character avatar in Micro Machines 2.
Arin Hanson has been in a few games now. Borderlands 3 DLC Love, Guns and Tentacles features Arin Hanson as Mancubus Bloodtooth, FFVII Remake he's done random additional voices, Gunvolt Chronicles as Ace, Advance Wars as Max...the list goes on
In Baldur's Gate 3, one of the characters in the House of Grief is played by Abigail Thorn from Philosophy Tube. I recognized her almost immediately. She is an actor though, so it makes sense.
Jacksepticeye also appeared in River City Girls voicing Godai, it really threw me out of it, then as I went up the street I was jumpscared by the Game Grumps themselves sat in the background
I left a comment on a Jesse Cox video about how my wife was so bad at driving in Cyberpunk that she failed the mission he cameod in. He actually replied "RIP my junk."
Arin is such a talented voice actor, it’s frustrating to listen to him on Game Grumps do the same handful of over-the-top silly voices - especially the one and only female voice he ever does.
I mean, technically Andy, Mike, and Jane were referenced in Hitman. Also the characters of Corazon, Egbert, Prudence, Merriwen, and DOB were in a mobile game.
I have this problem when movies have famous actors - if Leo Dicaprio is in a movie, I'm always just reminded of him and previous movies he's been in and I see it as him rather than the character
Can't believe the most INFAMOUS youtuber cameo(s) didnt make the list. Almost any cameo in Hunt Down The Freeman, complete with the legendary "THE ALIENS ARE COMING" from Pyrocynical
Sea of Stars. was playing along, enjoying the story, then suddenly I'm staring at a pixel art jirard khalil, the "Constructionist". and it's not just a passing cameo, he's an npc you have to deal with to build a town in the game
Jacksepticeye, Dan, and Arin from Game Grumps also voice acted in the game River city Girls. A friend of mine had to point it out to me before I started to see the similarities in the character's voices.
Jack and Geoff being in RDR2 was awesome to me, mainly bc I still like to go back and watch the OG fails of the weak videos from the halo reach and 4 days
I thought the subnautica one was going to talk about neebs gaming crew voicing some lines. I also remember Arin talking about how he wasn’t told to make an accent and that it would be fixed or edited to make it different and than it wasn’t so it is just him.
I think you should've included Honkai Star Rail here. During a quest in the kinda-Russian nation of Belobog, you encounter 3 NPCs who, in the English dub are voiced by the main cast of the Trash Taste podcast: the RU-vidrs CDaawgVA, The Anime Man and Gigguk. The first of those isn't easy to recognize - he's a professional VA after all. and the second tries to do voice act too. But the third sounds the exact same as on his RU-vid channel - a distracting cameo no doubt.
Hunt Down the Freeman does this to hilariously awful effect. You got Alex from I Hate Everything playing as a soldier, Pyroncynical playing as the colonel, and most bizarrely President Killer Keemstar who just completely surrenders right at the end of the Seven Hour War. Yeah, sounds like what would happen if Daniel Keem was the president.
Subnautica also has Neebs Gaming cameo. They guys calling you about building a spaceship and arguing about a sandwich. And Jacksepticeye has a doll you can open with a code.
for the longest time I thought Geoff's cameo in RDR2 was supposed to be a tie in to Red vs. Blue: The Shisno Paradox where they do time travel and also released in 2018, like this was supposed to be a time traveling Grif but sadly that wasn't the case
Honestly, if it's not you lot or Playstation Access, I don't know from RU-vidrs. I wouldn't know one of my native American RU-vidrs if they bit me on the face
I finally started playing Honkai Star Rail recently because I finally got curious enough about the story and while enjoying the story I suddenly hear this NPC talk and think to myself "What a surprisingly nice voice for an NPC. Like they are usually nice but man this is a nice voice and accent". Then I click to hear the next line and I suddenly realise, that's cdawg va!!! Checked his IMBD and yup, it's him. It felt jarring to hear a youtuber I know in a game.
*Me playing River City Girls:* "Why the hell is Godai voiced by an Irishman if he's this bad at hiding his accent?" * Goes online and sees that he's voiced by Jacksepticeye* "Ah, so he was hired for name recognition instead of his acting ability, that makes more sense..."
I know you all mentioned Jacksepticeye being in Poppy Playtime chapter 2, but I never forget that he was also Godai in both River City Girls 1 & 2. To be fair, those games had cavalcade of RU-vidr Easter eggs, like Billy and Jimmy being voiced by Dan and Arin of Game Grumps.
there is something truly hilarious about Markiplier being featured in a game about an ocean planet. also how have i played DA:I for ten years and never realized Arin was in it??? (also hilarious that he voices a dwarf)
