I'm an OT student and I would say these tips are equally as applicable for OT programs. Super helpful. I used your content while I was figuring out what I wanted to do for school, so thank you for sharing!
I LOVE your videos!!! I am currently in the application process for OTA school. I've made it in the top 50 and my interview is this friday. If I make it, I'll start this August. I've been kind of nervous but I'm trusting God will work all things out and I'm super excited for what's to come! Your videos are really helpful and bring me peace about the whole process, thank you!!! P.S. You are so sweet and kind hearted, I wish I knew you in person so we could be friends! 😊❤
Well this is the sweetest comment I’ve ever gotten!! 🥺 Thank you so much for watching. Congratulations on making top 50!! Sell yourself!! They have no idea who you are so show your best qualities, talents, skills, and be honest! Keep me updated please!
@@carlythecota Update! I got accepted!!! My first day of class is this August on the 22nd😊 Congratulations on your engagement, I'm so excited for you! ❤
@@nicoleacreman388 congrats ! how was the application process for you( how was your pre-res for OTA SCHOOL? did you have to take science class? what science class did you take?)
Really enjoying your videos!! I'm rewatching some to get geared up for my interview for an OTA program tomorrow! Thank you for everything you've posted. Your passion for the field really comes through! Wishing you much success & happiness!
The school I'm interested in is 2 hours away from where I live. Luckily they have a part time Hybrid program. Although they only start the Hybrid program in the Spring on odd years. I have 3 more prerequisites to take and then I'll be applying to the program in 2025. I started my prerequisites in 2018 but then life happened and now I'm going back to finish. Thank you for all this information. I love your videos!
I just got accepted to OTA school and start this January! I am very excited but at the same time nervous. Do you recommend studying ahead and if so what should I go for? Also, how were you able to sustain yourself while not working throughout the program?
Hey Korina!!! CONGRATS!!! Don’t stress too much about studying before, BUT if you want to feel more prepared, study muscles! Focus on the hands, arms, and trunk. Also, if you’ll email me, I will send you abbreviations that you can be studying that will help you feel more in the know when you start school. I think you can find my email on my page in the “About” section! I am very blessed that my family was able to support me while I was in school so I didn’t have to worry about bills, gas, groceries, etc. I just stayed conscious about what I was spending so I didn’t abuse what I was given. Many people in my program worked, but it made school much more difficult. You gotta do what you gotta do! Save save save until that point and possibly cut down on hours to begin with just to get a balance. You’ve got this!
Hey Sophia! Usually I will find the contact for the person in charge and email them stating who I am, what school I’m associated with, what my goal is, why I want to volunteer, and ask if there would be a good time to call and talk further. People are *usually* really open to helping others get started in this career. :) Thanks for watching!!
HI Carly! i just came across your videos! i am really happy to see your advice and tips. I have a community college thats in my county . i would have to ask what is it like taking pre-reqs? i have emailed you and i will reply to this video. When taking pre-reqs especially the science classes like Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 how hard will it be to pass everything to get the passing grades needed to get into OTA school? Also who should i ask for reccomendation letters and references?
Hey Jamie! Anatomy & Kinesiology were the classes I struggled in the most. It is a lot of information to understand and memorize in a short amount of time. If you are dedicated and use multiple study methods, you can get through it! I suggest asking previous employers and/or previous teachers/administrators for recommendation letters!
you can either achieve your OTA license and then apply to an OT program and pursue that degree OR you can participate in a bridge program that allows you to get your OTA license while getting your OT degree.
Hi I would like to know when it’s time for interviewing with representatives of the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Admissions Committee will a onsite writing essay be required?
Every program is different! I did not have an interview or an essay - just an application. Contact your schools OTA Program coordinator to find out those details. Thanks for watching!!
I am volunteering at a PT clinic under a OT department would that look good for my application. Ive been working under a OT that specializes in hand therapy which is the field i wanna study.
