So I do all of these things, but what really improved me to sleep thru the night without waking up as a 52 year old menopausal woman- was when I purchased a 100% French linen duvet cover and linen sheets. I haven’t slept thru the night without at least waking up to pee in years! I believe it’s because I don’t get too hot or too cold and they’re just so cozy! ❤ worth every penny. I put them in my guest room as well and my houseguests said they had the best sleep of their lives! And they’ve been here before when I didn’t have them on the bed and they never mentioned sleeping well. ❤😊

I never slept more than 6 hours a night, even as a kid, in a adulthood, the same, when I retired 11 years ago, I decided I would try to sleep more, because listening to a lot of talk about the need for at least 8 hours, all I accomplished was to get more anxious about sleep and got worse. Today at 68, I don’t worry about sleep anymore, I go to bed at the same time every day, exactly at 10 and wake up at 4, stay in bed for a guided meditation for another hour or two, sometimes I fall back to sleep, sometimes I don’t, get up and go for a 20 minute walk, and I stay active all day long, take a hot shower at 8:30 at night, put my orange glasses and read for about 45 minutes, and go to sleep, I do this every day with no exceptions. I take no naps, I don’t feel tired at no point during the day. I have accepted that, for me that’s the right amount of sleep, and don’t ruminate about it. I have to mention that the last time I got sick with a cold was the winter of 2005. Then again, I do eat very healthy and exercise regularly. But that’s me every one is different.

Well before I retired I used to get home 5.30pm cook dinner wash up,then do housework one night ironing next night hoover thru next out shopping for weekly shop etc etc.worked every night to have my weekend free!!

I agree with 100% of these tips. However, I know I will never achieve this until I'm retired. But you are spot on about it going against God's design for us. I usually sleep 4 hours, 10pm to 2 am. Get up at 5 am for work. My diet is great, but it can't compensate for sleep deprivation.
@EastStarc
@EastStarc 16 дней назад
I'm partly retired 61 I love to go to bed at 7am I sleep til 3-4 am without waking up. I feel great when I get up I get dressed first thing Then I take my probiotic with turmeric. Then I go walk for an hour Drink lemon water. Then I have avocado toast I make myself Then I go to work for 4 hrs. At noon I have my organic lunch and I'm done. Early afternoon I look at email Tv news Call loved ones Dance play guitar Work puzzles Knit It's a mindset of routine really but I love it so I guess it works. When I was raising my children I would go to bed at 8pm right after them. I have always believed in great quality sleep. My mother 88 still sleeps 8 hrs very healthy no meds

Time to change jobs (work hours), get better minimizing screen time as much as possible especially at night, get outdoors a lot more and sleep sleep sleep. This was definitely a life changing video. Thanks Dr Axe! 🙏

@@gerrikirwin4005 Funny you say that since I recently got Covid a few weeks back and it's messed up my sleep and I have heightened anxiety. I haven't slept more than 5 hours in the last 3 weeks. There was a period of 5 days where I don't think I slept at all during the initial stages of getting Covid. I really hope the both of us can get more sleep. Wishing you well.

@Jazmin-mb7ju 0 seconds ago I tell people out of the three things diet, exercise and sleep. You can still function if you skip a workout or decide to have that chocolate cake…however If you take away sleep for one day you’re not functioning at your best. Sleep is medicine🙏🏻

What really helped me is one word DISCIPLINE. yes discipline of sleeping before 12 o clock. I aim to sleep somewhere along the lines of 9-11 o clock. 9 o clock is better. And every 6 o clock in the morning i take a walk. At 7am i do sunbath for 15minutes and let some light into my eyes. I also ate breakfast because the research says it helps rewind body clock. And i also take magnesium 200gram morning and 200gr evening to help sleep. I also eat 3-5hours before bed. The most important thing is consistency and discipline

Thank you for all the info, I love listening to your shows. I've had a lifelong interest on improving health naturally and have generally been quite healthy but the last year or two been suffering from what I believe to be adrenal fatigue from several very stressful life events since 2016. I've used your recipe to make bone broth and I'm going to try to be better about being consistent with that and having some 'me time' in the evenings instead of working from 6a to 10p ... Thank you thank you for all you do!!💜

Recently I have found that taking magnesium before bed causes heart palpitations, hypnic jerks and insomnia. I took magnesium Calm powder for years and I slept great but now I can’t. I read that taking magnesium if you don’t need it could possibly cause an imbalance in zinc, potassium and calcium. Some nights I can’t fall asleep at all. Insomnia is torturous.

Two issues for this 77 year old: tiny bladder, so some nights is wake up several times to pee. So ends deep sleep after the first awakening. Number 2 is that if I'm in afib, the best I can hope for I'd mostly light sleep since my stress reaction is not in parasympathetic restful state. I'm probably going to bed way later than I should since I'm married to a vampire who stays up until 3:30 am, and doesn't come downstairs until 1 pm or later. Frustrating. Last night, we watched a movie and I got to bed just before midnight. Ugh.
