o comentario que quero fazer em relaçao ao desenvolvimento da madeira, é que gostava de ver a madeira sair um bocado da dependencia que tem no turismo. o turismo é muito fragil. nao conheço nenhum sitio onde tenha estado com tantos hoteis por m2, com acrescimo de novos hoteis estarem a ser construidos. bem grandes até. o savoy entao é muito grande. não sou muito apologista de uma economica focada no turismo, mas nao podemos negar o bom que isso tem sido para a madeira. a madeira neste momento é super popular. espero que sejam capazes aproveitar esta boa onde que estão a ter. tambem merecem.
Pois Andre, passamos aí uns anos de desgraça, da pandemia, e agora temos que ser espertos e saber aproveitar, não só para os locais mas sim as gerações seguintes. Também gostava de ver outras indústrias a crescer, tecnologia, agricultura, etc … algo pra todos nós pensar. Um bom fim de semana my friend 🙏 grande abraço 🤠
In the early 70s, my dad drove trucks all over the island’s older perilous roads, which is hilarious because whenever we visit he refuses to drive in Madeira now. He learned to drive the trucks in the military before being shipped out. He used to tell a story of driving through Camara de Lobos with his boss and a load of bananas. He misjudge how tight a road was, but before he could reverse, dozens of kids started jumping into the back of the truck taking bunches of bananas. The spot they were in was so tight, that my dad and his boss couldn’t open their doors-they were trapped. They had to sit there and wait for the kids to finish taking the bananas before they could drive off. I’m sure he wasn’t the first truck driver to find themselves in that situation.

I actually thought Churchill's Place had closed down as during the last two occasions I was in Câmara de Lobos it appeared as thus. At the bay side of that restaurant is where I've launched my drone from both times! More history please as I love hearing about these places in depth & it was today that I realised the connection of the seal art to Câmara de Lobos' name lol! 🤣 I was actually under the impression that Winston Churchill visited several times. By the way what was the clear drink served to you at the end of your meal I'm curious to know? Have an amazing week my friend & relish your days off as you work too damn hard! 🤗

Great content as always Jeff! Bit of random trivia for you; that chapel of Our Lady of the (Immaculate) Conception, is also dedicated to the Spanish saint “São Telmo” who is the patron Saint of sailors/mariners and is venerated in both Spain & Portugal specifically. Keep up the good work!
Alguns comentários infelizes sobre a segurança em câmara de lobos.. uma vila onde recebe centenas de turistas por dia e que são sempre bem recebidos. Pessoas com boas e más intenções existem em todo o lado.

@@Hittheroadmadeira Não deixe que certas opiniões lhe façam pressão ao ponto de lhe censurarem, diga o que tem para dizer e quem não gostar que tape as orelhas. Camara de lobos, como qualquer outro sitio, tem de facto coisas boas, mas também têm coisas menos boas, e sendo assim, está no seu direito de expressar-se. Independentemente se os turistas são bem recebidos, não altera o facto de ter certas zonas onde se comercializa droga e onde seja comum a prática de assaltos ;)

Also, apart from the cool Monk Seal sculpture, I’m fascinated by the door art in the restaurant district - particularly the plastic oil can people. We look forward to our move to Madeira in a few months and hope to see you soon. :-)

We went to Filhos d'Mar after lunch to balance our walking lol 😂. Really good poncha I must say ❤🥃. On the other note, yes I agree, Madeira has developed since my last visit. Unfortunately, we came across a big number of homelessness and drug increases too. Madeira para sempre ❤😊.

Im from camara de lobos have no problem being called chavelha 🤣 little comments of be careful and we have expensive stuff making us look like we are so bad😢 But good video thanks for explaining our history.
