When tying the double loop, do you not lose any redundancy in the top loops? That is to say, If one loop is cut, does this not cause knot failure? This is one example of my inability to get a solid line of demarcation between redundancy and over redundancy…
Because of how its tied the two loops are essentially two sides of a girth hitch finishing off this knot. I haven't seen an actual test but I'm highly confident that if one loop failed the other one could or would as well. U would base the decision of whether or not to use it on thw load ratings.
hey bud the inline 8 is wrong. You know its right when you have 3 strands exiting the knot together, the loop you created (2 strands) and the line itself (1 strand).You'll notice you have the loop and the line exiting the knot in 2 different spots. If you load the knot you made you will notice it's not so inline anymore and can pull out with the right load.
