On mistake 1, I’d say open a checking account when Chase offers a checking bonus. Right now if you open a Chase checking account, you can get $300. If you start with the Rise this way, this is kind of your sign up bonus ($300 + $25 for the direct deposit benefit). If you start with a Freedom card, it’s $300 + at least 20,000 UR points, a base floor of $500 as a welcome to Chase. If you’re looking to get into Chase rn, now’s the time with the checking offer

These were great tips Matt (I know you’re sharing mistakes, but ultimately the mistakes end up being great tips). I especially liked the tip about picking the right transfer partners. I’d love to experience the Emirates first class or business class seats, however, transferring directly to them may not be a great idea but it would be better to use a partner airline that may require less miles.
Timing for elevated sign up bonuses on the Sapphire cards always makes for tricky decision making, as you never know when the next one will come and you want to start that 48-month clock sooner rather than later. Thank you so much I really appreciate those kind words. I'd recommend the CSP in that situation. If you are traveling internationally, you'd likely be utilizing travel partners often instead of just going through the Portal to book things like United + Southwest Flights. I personally prioritize international travel as well whenever I have the opportunity to travel, and will be sticking with the CSP. I typically treat the CSR as more of a card best suited for people who travel domestically frequently. Really appreciate you watching!
