Origami and Cats:That's sure not though what her original acting teacher in NYC told her when she was there and Bette Davis was there also. Her teacher told Lucy to leave show business.
Love, love, love this video. Thank you for posting this. Every dance number is a favorite of mine. Lucy was beautiful and so talented. Her and Desi make an awesomely sexy couple...
I am seventy. My Mom and Dad would let me stay up to watch Lucy in the fifties. This has been a real treat. Still watching after all these years. Never gets old. Thanks TP
I am 71 and I Love Lucy has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Lucille Ball was one of a kind but Desi played a bigger part of the show's success than he gets credit for. Aside from the obvious contributions he made to the show, I never hear anyone mention his own comedic talents. His expressions to Lucy's antics, such as the scene with Bill Holden when her nose was set on fire, was priceless. And his laughter! They, together, made I Love Lucy the success it continues to be. They as a couple, were the greatest and gave the world such a great gift.
Just turned 40 here and I've been watching Lucy and Desi my whole life as well. Desi's physical humor was very good on that show as well. My nine year old's favorite episode so far is that Bill Holden ep! We just watched it again the other day and Ricky's expressions really make that scene a riot!
The scene where the rice was overflowing in Job Switching was an accident the first time he fell, then he caught how funny it was to the audience and did it twice more. I think in the episode called Lucy Goes to the Rodeo (might be the wrong title), his belt fell off during a Texas Pete blooper and then he purposely made it fall for the actual take because of the audience reaction. He was so good at feeding off of the live reactions!
I have been watching I Love Lucy since I was a child. I think you missed one of the funniest dances they did the Tango. Also I think you cut the scenes too much.
How ironic!! I just saw the episode of Lucy and Desi dancing to *Cuban Pete* this morning, my FAV dance scene of theirs!! I always loved seeing them dance together, such a BEAUTIFUL couple they were!! OMYGOD and *The Waltz*, BEAUTIFUL!!💖🥰
Oh my goodness that was a phenomenal video! Lucille Ball was a wonderful dancer! I love Lucy! ♥️ Thank you for making this video. The clarity of the video was superb! Like no other I’ve seen on any other I Love Lucy videos.
Even though the character of Lucy Ricardo could not dance, Lucille herself was a former Ziegfeld Follies dancer- which was kind of like the 1920s version of being a Dallas Cheerleader or a Rockette. It meant you had to do an arduous audition with other women, and only the best dancers were chosen. She did not last long there, but she made the cut.
#2 is one of my favorite episodes 🤣🤣🤣 Also, even though the show is in black and white, I love some of the dresses that Lucy wore. I often wonder what color they were.
Lucy could dance so beautifully, but she could still pretend that she didn’t know how to dance for comedic purposes. She was one of the best entertainers of all time. Desi too. I love the scenes when they’re dancing and their real love for each other comes shining through. It’s a wonderful thing to watch.
I always loved Lucy & Desi especially when their genuine feelings for each other show on screen. I was born 3 days before the pilot aired which made it truly special in my heart.
Watching these five musical numbers made me realize how talented, genuine and touching these scenes were. And there were so many others ("We're Having a Baby".) I think my favorite is "Cuban Pete" because of the musical accompaniment. Every single one makes me emotional.
Great! The clips are fantastic. Watching Van Johnson and Lucy dance together demonstrated the talent and diversified skills she had. What talent the show brings and laughter to so many people to enjoy. Thank you Rick so very much!
The anniversary waltz scene always gets me. As well as the other anniversary episode when they're sipping champagne together in the closet. He was the love of her life and vice versa. Soul mates. ❤
rick nineg I respectfully disagree. It takes great acting chops to be that natural, open, and uninhibited in front of huge cameras AND a studio audience.
I am surprised though Rick, you didn't plac the dance scene after Lucy finally reveals he is going to be a father where Desi sings the lyrics to "I Love Lucy."
My favorite ones are where they do a 1920's Revue at the club, and when they are in Europe and in order to meet the Queen, Lucy attempts to do the circus pony act but keeps getting a charlie horse.
This was perfect! Just as expected with the Van Johnson dance being number 1! Always love that scene! And you can tell that kiss in number 4 was real! No acting there, despite the nature of their relationship! Like you said Rick, they truly loved each other and you could see it! Just sad that their love for each other couldn't surpass their irreconcilable differences.
#4 The anniversary waltz is the best!!! Very touching and their dancing skills are evident. Reminds me of all the family weddings and the heart-filled dancing by my parents, aunts & uncles.
Wonderful compilation!! The dance with Van Johnson was always my favorite, followed by "chick, chicky boom". The thing about Lucy was, even when she danced to get a laugh....it was always so fluid,so well done,as it is so hard to "mess up" on purpose. Fabulous dancer,"our" Lucy!
I just now discovered your wonderful videos of I Love Lucy. I have enjoyed this show for years! I started watching this show as a teen, and I still love to watch the show at age 72. Thank you for a truly wonderful experience!
And the classic songs 🎵! I grew up in the 60s, so naturally I love ❤ 60s music 🎶, but I also appreciate and enjoy earlier songs, like the ones we heard in these wonderful clips.
One more thing, I'm reading "A Book" by Desi and am at the part of how he proposed to Lucy. This is a MUST READ book if you are a fan. A crazy, beautiful love story. I cry each and every time I see the episode when she tells Ricky shes pregnant and that last scene.
I probably have all the I Love Lucy episodes memorized. The dance with Van Johnson is magical! I never grow tired of watching it. She was one of a kind; there will never be another Lucy!
Rick, you do a great job and have such a sweet attitude, a real pleasure in this day and age. Keep up the great work. The final clip made me think of an idea, maybe you've already done it: Lucy's Triumphs. Episodes where her schemes and dreams actually worked out for the best and she got just what she wanted, like with Van. Thanks again!
Hi. I'm very impressed by your knowledge and insight regarding I Love Lucy. Especially because you sound so young. Either way, well done!! I'd suggest another dance moment here. The episode where Lucy tells Ricky she's going to have a baby, "We're Having a Baby," song.
I LOVE LUCY is my absolute favorite show! Lucy is enciente is the sweetest of all ❤. I'm sure I've seen it nearly 100 times and it still makes me tear up every time. Lucy & Desi were a beautiful couple in the beginning. You could see the love they shared for each other in their eyes, their looks and glances towards one another. you can almost feel it just watching them interacting together. If only love could last forever.
I simply loved all the scenes with Desi & Lucy dancing. One of my favorite scenes (non - dancing) was the episode of The Anniversary Party. The two snuck into the closet, away from the party, to have their romantic moment together, alone, away from the party givers, totally unnoticed.
I’m 26 years old and I just received the entire dvd collection of “I Love Lucy” . I have been watching it for 3 days and on disc 7 out of 33 discs! I LOVED this show as a kid and am so thrilled to watch it from beginning to end!!! I wish there were more shows out there today like this. She was just hilarious and beautiful. No one can top her comedy! ❤️ 💖 I cannot believe that “Mama Yo Quiero” was not in here! That episode was hilarious. It’ somewhat a dance number, but really funny!
Good selection, but you left out the very best (my opinion) one-- We're having a baby--when Lucy tells Ricky she's having a baby at the club, you can see Desi tear up, what a moment. And wish you would have left the line in Anniversary Waltz where Ricky says to Lucy... "Come on honey" just as he takes her hand.. The Cuban Pete -Sally Sweet number was also one of the promos they performed for the sponsors to audition in the beginning along with the Hobo (Lucy) With the Cello routine. Sorry, I could go on forever.. Just love my Lucy !!
Lucy Ricardo was an awesome character created by a group of masterminds. They created a person who still touches our hearts. Lucille Ball played that part amazingly considering she was nothing like her.
The episode where she danced with Van Johnson was one of my favorites. She managed to meet him (in a typical Lucy way) and prove that she knew all his partners dance moves. Nobody believed her when she said she danced with him though, until Van Johnson called her, personally, to ask her to fill in for his usual partner, who couldn't do it. It's been awhile since I saw that episode but I recall she left Fred Ethel and Ricky with their mouths hanging open. ;-)
I appreciate your closing comments in staying positive and being hopeful especially during these trying times with the Covid pandemic. Thank you for the reminder, Rick, and hope you and your family are safe and well. ❤️🙏🏻 PS- keep those Lucy & Desi memories alive 🌺🌈🌻🌹🌷
Geeeeezz what a great compilation of awesome physical comedy and romantic comedy moments and the dance routines! Love it. only positive criticism: It would be lovely to see the entire routine without interruptions. Anyway I can go see them in DVD hehe Thanks for posting!!!
I agree. I was just getting into the music 🎶 when it would cut ✂️ to a different scene in the routine or cut ✂️ to another episode altogether. But still enjoyed it.
CBS holds copyright to all the I Love Lucy episodes so Rick has to work within the strict confines of copyright law and can't show to much only snippets.
The Van Johnson dance episode is my all time favorite. But I felt you cut the most beautiful moment-when the camera pans to Ricky, Ethel and Fred and they look so happy and proud of her. I wish we could have seen it in full, without all the constant cuts but overall this post absolutely fabulous.❤️
I LOVE CUBAN PETE! I love the dancing but the singing and how Desi acts to see her come out. Both here wonderful talented dancers! Thank you Rick. Loved this one.
You nailed it Rick. Number 1 for me will always be Lucy dancing with Van Johnson. I cry every time I watch it. Just like I do every time I watch the ending of An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. This episode reminds me of a bygone era, a time when the tv and movies were filled with joy. The funny episodes are great too! Number 2 for me would be Dancing Cheek to Cheek. Thanks for sharing! They are all great!
WOW! WHAT A MARVELOUS PROGRAM YOU HAVE. I THOUGHT I HAD SEEN ALL OF THE "I LOVE LUCY" PROGRAMS, BUT TODAY I'VE BEEN SO BLESSED IN SEEING NEW CLIPS THAT I HADN'T...GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WONDERFUL SHOWING OF BOTH RICKY AND LUCY... AND LOVE YOU TOO, MY BROTHER. SHALOM: TURÉ 🎵 OLIVA 🎶
She reminds me SO much of my mother especially in the dark wig. I was 3 in 1951. Totally co fused. Lucy looked like my mother . Ethel looked like my grandmother. Mom said dad had an accent ( not Cuban but... ) and my grandfathers name was Fred. I thought it was my family somehow .
I love Lucy I've been watching you since I'm a kid and I can watch them over and over and over and they will never ever be anyone like I Lucille Ball was number one with Desi Arnaz
Enjoy watching your videos; this one was hard to watch as EVERY dance was cut up into little snips. Lucy and Van together is just magical. However, "Pregnant Women" dance is not as good at showing the Arnezes' real happiness as the two-song dance from "Lucy is Enciente". The nightclub scene actually broke down when Desi rushes to Lucille's side to say "Really? Are you sure?". The stars both were overcome with tears of joy; that moment was cut out and a second take is what is seen on the episode. I think it was the only time a film splice is visible in the entire series. That one is my favorite episode.
@@ricknineg I'm watching "ILL" RN too! LOL. I have about 30 episodes on DVR! I literally watch it EVERY day!!! RN the episode with Van Johnson is on!! I LOVE it! I cry everytime!! LOL. Candy
Thank U for doing this, ur connecting us to very special historic period of time in America's history. Lucy is the very best of Hollywood in the history in my opinion. Very ellegant, classy & talented. I'm an immigrant American & Lucy is my favorite in Hollywood. U have very special instinct who can notice & remark all her special features. Thank u again for sharing ur thoughts, much appreciated.
Rick, thanks for your great love of LB! Knowing so much of the great Lucy dance numbers, can you help me find a favorite of mine? I think it is a "Danse Apache" - the dramatic couples dance, but Lucy dances the "duet" all by herself at home! Fabulous. But the ILL episode I can find is called "the Adagio" and is a duet with the French fellow in which they never actually dance. Do you know the one I am looking for? I've been looking for years...I hope you can find it for me! Thank you!!
I honestly feel bad for Mr. Gary Morton, bcuz as wonderful as is or was, it was obvious to the world that Desi was her one true love. We only get one. I'm glad she found peace with her 2nd love
Nothing to be sad about she treated him like a king, he wanted for nothing and he got a third of the estate, most if which his bitch of a second wife the Golfer sold out from under Lucie and Desi Jr. after he died. Even their Mom and Dad's love letters she auctioned off. I'm sure Lucille had thought Morton would do right by her children and see to it they got such mementos without her having to specify each item in the will but he didn't and helped himself to as much as he could get away with. Not feeling one bit sorry for him!!!!
